Aside the Saunders story which Alan Hill claimed was 90% bullshit. I know who I'm inclined to believe. Well known Clough had a drink problem but to embellish a story like Saunders did was disrespectful and upsetting to Clough's family. The Crossley story appear's genuine and a fair recollection. Not the first time it's been recalled by Crossley.

Had huge respect for Cloughie when we (oldham) played Forrest in league cup final..On the walk out he made sure big Joe Royle basked in the occasion and walked ahead of him..he pushed him forward as if to say come on Joe you deserve this. The corporatisation of all sport has completely ruined things for me as a spectator. I still love my beloved Radiers and West Bromwich Albion; but there's way too much showbiz and histrionics from the players. Personalities like Cloughie, Malcolm Alison, Big Ron and the like are gone and never to return along with the sheer excitment.

Loved this im a blade from Barnsley, refereed Mark for over 45s, great lad. Cloughy is my fave ever manager

One Cloughie story I found funny was told by Stuart Pearce in his autobiography... Forest were heading back from an away game, Cloughie made the driver pull off the M1 towards East Midlands Airport, instructed the driver to stop within viewing distance of the Airport and Cloughie said 'Look Skipper, we'll be there in a few weeks, give it a wave'
@mikelitorous5570 Жыл бұрын
We need a proper film or series about clough which has input from his family and from the lads who played under him and the influence he had on their career and their lives. Such a funny character but arguably had the greatest footballing story ever, up there with Leicester
@howwwwwyyyyy8 ай бұрын
I'm sorry, Leicester was a great achievement,but this man's achievements outdo anyone, promotion, then first division beating an outstanding Liverpool side that were champions European champions and fa cup finalists, then following that up with two European cups and a league cup thrown in, it'll never be emulated.
