For anyone interested, the same studio put out undungeon arena, which is basically a prologue style of title (shorter story, but same basic gameplay). You get to choose from both characters there, so you can test out the other character that will eventually be added.

Love to see a game with cenobite vibes. So few try and even fewer games get it as well as this one seems to get it. Love the background lore and pixel art in the cutscenes too

Ohhh... this was the game that had Splatt trying to see the main character's "butt wriggler" before getting denied by a cutscene. That charming and cute enjoyment of a game was what got me to start subscribing and watching this channel in the first place, and I chewed through Splatt's old videos in somewhere like a month and a half. Its been a wonderful and happy experience through a few of the hardest years of my life (for all of us, probably), and I can't hope to thank you enough Matt. Watching you love your job, your life, and your family (two-legged and four) raises my spirits daily.

Insofar as the game goes, it looks like a nice game. I like the storyline concept, and is something I could really get into. I hope it works with a controller too though, wasd sucks on my laptop. The combat seems kind of repetitive though; I'm not sure what they could do to improve it, it might be better later in the game once the character is more powerful.

it had been. dropped a little for the kickstarter when it started like uhhhh wanna say 4-5 years ago or something. internal drama and a bit of outside assistance to help them get back on their feet and here we are i guess.

Thank you for covering UnDungeon Splat! I really do appreciate the unique world the devs have built here, and their decision to not make yet another bog standard, pseudo western European, high fantasy adventure romp. UnDungeon is definitely unique! I tried UnDungeon myself, but I bounced hard off it.☹️ I found the narrative focus WAY too longed winded and tedious, the UI elements WAY too big and in my face, and even the screen resolution way too Zoomed in on the character. As you mentioned Torment as a touchstone in regards to UnDungeon’s unique weirdness, (which I do appreciate), I find that Torment itself also suffered from the super zoomed in resolution, (at least in the original release) which massively nerf ranged and magical characters. I find it very odd that two very dissimilar games suffer from so similar of a flaw. Perhaps it is a choice, but I think the game would both look and play better if the action was a bit more zoomed out.

World building takes time. It seems like this is a multiverse like in Marvel or DC. Seven dimensions collapsed into each other. The beings who maintain creation are trying to fix the damage. The Nothingness is your boss, and you are his messenger/angel. Living beings see you as we would see an angel. This has a lot of potential if they bring in other "gods" with their factions. From what we saw, their are factions who want destroy everything to gain power. They want everything to slide into the void. If you don't succeed, then the pillars are reality will fall. Very big stakes. Hope there's a good big bad villain.

If you can animation cancel, there is almost no strategy required in combat. It’s just spam attacks knowing you can dodge at any time.

Once you commit to a strike, even if you change your mind and try to change what you are doing inertia and the way the human body works will significantly hamper your ability to do so.

@@Damiv I do not have the other link for now i will give later but check out channel like pursuing the knightly art and you would surprised first fighter, dedicated one are very physically strong, especially back then, to be fair almost everyone was strong, anyway i badly wrote myself, i simply disagree with the fetish of barely more than turn based combat you want, ( probably with the oh so cliché cheesy animation where the character spent half of his time showing off his armpit while spinning his sword on itself and through his fingers.. rather than hitting his opponents..) entirely based on "stunlock" which mean everyone attack in turn.. It be better if they had block, dodge( without invincibility frame) , parry, grapple, feint maybe even go fancier have dodge parry hybrid like risen 1 did, anyway you speak of momentum but this void dude is using his claws not some kind of cliché oversized animate sword..

The one thing that kills me is that, the gear you equip is not visible on your character. I’ve seen some very neat looking items in this game, and I dig the body part upgrade system but, they unfortunately do not change how your character looks. It’s a shame. It’s definitely what I look for in an rpg. Otherwise, interesting game. I would love to play it when it’s out.
