I'm pushing 40 years old and this band, this album, transports me back to happier/simpler times. I had longer hair and played in a touring metal band. These dudes...the cream of the crop for me. Fucking love this band and the memories that are attached to it! The late 90s and early 2000s metal core scene I will always cherish! Horns up brothers!

The best metalcore band of all time. Unearth laid down the foundation so fucking well alongside other groups like Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Parkway Drive, Lamb of God, Eighteen Visions, Poison the Well and Avenged Sevenfold (The old school stuff). When I was a kid I got a summer job interning at a local community radio station. One day someone didn't show up for their show. I commonly helped the djs with the technology, and I knew how to run everything so I got the airtime slot. I played the entire Oncoming Storm album for the whole city. I don't know how many people tuned in, but there had to have been at least 1 metalhead that stumbled on it and rocked out with me. 😂🤘

I literally remember listening to this album for the first time in 2004 and my dad yelling at us to shut up in the backseat (we were in his car at the time) so he could hear it. I'd never really given a thought to music other than Metallica but oh my god. Listening to this entire album opened my eyes to metal music and it gave me a drive to expand my horizons as far as my taste in metal was concerned, which consisted mostly of Metallica, Slayer, and Iron Maiden. Also please note, I'm 21 right now, which means I was 9 when this happened. Still one of my best memories to this date. Just sitting in the backseat dumbfounded at the brilliance of this album. Unearth is undoubtedly the band that forced me to expand my taste in music. And I love them for it. Even as a child, I knew musical genius. Unearth and Opeth are in a tie for my favorite band currently.

It was last night on the midnight train back home I ran into this one yet unfamiliar tone I know I should have known It was last night I knew I should have known Chaos Our busy minds asleep We drudge across the land Is this the coming of our monarchy harmless We meet increased demands Is this the life we had in our dreams Our eternal nightmare all of us are blind to others Hide behind our plans to nothing Cage us We weep in self defeat All humanity is lost In this eternal nightmare All days are lost to conditioned zones All days are lost to what we know free us A piece of mind Gone are dreamers who strive to know All of us are blind

Unearth (especially 'Oncoming Storm') was just the perfect band coming up at the perfect time when metal (metalcore, whatever) really needed the boost. They were, and still are, incredible

I first heard this song on Comcast Cable Music Selection when I was a kid. Now I can play all these songs on the drums ha ha I listened to this album everyday when I got on the bus otw to school. This song was on my playlist. I'm 29 now. Was down and this song makes me feel better because life sucked back then.

Realized this song/vid is about the misery of working for corporate and how it destroys us emotionally. And this guys quits in his dream. Love how it ends with all of us are blind.

Ah back when Metalcore was actually metal and hardcore mixed instead of just "Hey we're emo but we have some breakdowns so that makes us metal now right?" like most metalcore bands now.

This was Unearth at its peak: no structures, no over-reliance on the double kick, human approach to drums and incessant amount of attention to detail.
