A few weeks ago we attempted to start the engine in an old 1950 Chevrolet 3/4 ton truck ( • Will It Run? 1950 Chev... ). But where did the truck come from? Here's a video to answer that! Davin went back to the site of a recent Barn Find Hunter episode (Episode 59: • Tri-power Oldsmobile S... ) with shovel in hand and the help of Brickyard Towing. Follow along as we unearth our next Redline Rebuild engine project as well as a potential project truck to get back on the road.

You know it says something that a 70 year old truck still looks so good being outdoors for years.

Absolutely heart wrenching when you see cars just left to rot like the T-bird. Not my fav car but to set it aside to keep it only to allow it to rot. The frame ripped with the rear end. I had an old 66 Lincoln that I had dreams of restoring. But after 5 yrs I realized it wasn’t going to happen. Sell it, give it away, don’t just let them rot away! Nice truck tho, I had a 51 Chevy 1/2 (didn’t have the corner windows tho). Small block 400 with a 4 speed. Chopped ass - had 3 equal sections (tire/pumpkin/tire) big fatty looking rear end lol.

Most likely buyer is another hoarder who will just leave the car. I don't think it is curable, some people are just born that way.
@dericksmith2137

jonnenne - best of intentions and things do happen. That’s my Lincoln, stored it with intentions. But then comes a family and a business. No money to restore a car that doesn’t pay bills. Plus it was sitting in a field, so after 5 years I ended up just letting everyone I knew that it was available, gave it away for $500. If I had room to store it in a dry garage, I’d have kept it. Kids are grown, business is sold, could have fixed it up now. But better someone had it before it became a rust bucket. Old timers can’t admit they can’t do it anymore but keep hanging onto these ‘projects’, but every year that goes by the car gets more undoable .

My dad had one in this vintage. My brother in law, borrowed it and was hit head on it and survived. The truck gave its all to save a family member. They are so tuff, wish we still had it.

Essie Tangle - as a dumb assed 20 yr old I got right mad and punched the drivers door of my 51 Chevy 1/2. Broke my hand in 2 spots and didn’t even dent the door. Lol. Damned tuff trucks. That’d been around 88 or 89, so 37 year old truck still solid then.

Super excited for this one. My parents had a stock, unrestored '53 Chevy 3100 five window truck for a few years when I was less than 10 years old and I still have vivid memories of that truck, including the day they bought it home, although I was probably only 3 or 4 years old at the time. That was around 30 years ago and a 1953 truck seemed ancient even then. I just thought it was the coolest thing. I grew up around a lot of old cars but that truck was definitely the one that got me hooked on them. Can't wait to see what you do with your '50.

it is amazing that the county did not come in and call it a eye sore years ago or when scrap was over 200 dollars a ton back here where i live thirty years ago we had all kinds of old complete old cars just every where and then three things happen the local goverments filed charges monster farmers bought the land and then high scrap prices got them

@Black Buick the cost for license on those cars in ill if running on road is five dollars a year and sense it is civil court no warrant so sticking the year of manufacture tags on it is legal but yes i live in southern ill and local governments have caused problems big time not just the city of Chicago

My first rig was a 48 GMC 5 window. I bought it for a 100.00 when I was 12, back in the late 60's. Had help from my dad and local mechanics and went through pretty much everything to get it running. That was the start of my love for automobiles and bringing them back to life. Its a shame to ruin the T-Bird, but the undercarrage must have been badly rusted for it to come apart like that.

Too bad about the 2 door T-bird! My parents traded my Fathers Z16 (Original owner) 1965 Chevelle SS in on a 1 year old 69 T-bird 4 door-got to love the wrap around rear seat- (Aqua and black) the old 429 Thunderjet use to do great burnouts. Then they got my Mom "The Tank" in 73- gas crunch era. Premium went to 50 cents a gallon which caused the switch to a 1972 Impala Wagon with a 400/400 with the funky hide way tailgate.
