My first cat I got when I was 6 was my best friend. I loved that cat, but when we moved, my parents didn’t want them in the house any more. Then they finally took them to the shelter when I was about 16. 21 years later, (a few weeks ago) I saw a Facebook ad for a cat that had been surrendered to my local shelter. He coincidentally had the same odd name as my old cat, so I thought it was meant to be. At our first meeting, he was just the sweetest little guy, basically melting in my arms. I’m going to keep him.

My soul cat is almost 16 years old, our meeting when he was a tiny kitten was definitely a spiritually prearranged psychic appointment. I was walking down the street towards the bus stop on one of the hottest days of that year when I suddenly got an over powering strong urge to cross the street and walk down the opposite side of the street to the bus stop. It was so strong that I had no choice but to follow my gut feelings. I walked a few feet on the opposite side when I spotted a tiny kitten in the wrought iron fenced courtyard in front of the Performing Arts bldg (I was downtown) with a cobweb covering his face so I called to him and he walked right up to me and let me pick him up!!! I removed the cobweb and knew immediately that I wasn't going to be catching the bus to go shopping but instead was meant to take him home with me. I was forced to walk all the way home and he rode the whole way home on my shoulder and and even drank several times from my water bottle on the way home! What's even stranger is that I had been wishing for a kitten for several weeks prior... He is my heart and always will be.

Cherish every moment with your soul cat. My Ricky Ticky was murdered by the neighbor's dog in front of me when he was only six. Almost 24 years later, I'm apparently still traumatized, as I sob my way through this video. Ricky was a purebred Siamese and a birthday gift. That first night, and every night after, he slept on my pillow. If I rolled over, he moved to the other side of my pillow. We used to hold conversations and we cuddled all the time. He was never allowed outside, unless he was supervised and only in the backyard, maybe once a week. It was a beautiful morning and he had been begging for days to go out, so I relented. The dog... you don't need the grizzly details. PLEASE, keep your cats indoors! Keep them close and love them as long as you can.

Caroline sorry for your loss! My daughter's fiance threw her cat out and the next door neighbor poisoned him! For getting in his prized flower garden! Years later the neighbor not knowing who I was admitted it! I would have vandalized his garden but I don't want my daughter to know who murdered her cat!

When I was a kid, I had a solid black cat 🐈‍⬛️ who suddenly disappeared. I vowed to never have another cat. Fast forward a couple of catless decades, and I heard a cat meowing as soon as I got home and closed the door behind me. I opened the door, and a young, solid white cat came right inside, jumped onto the couch, and went to sleep. The cat had either jumped from the roof onto the doorsteps OR "fell from heaven." My "all-white" cat had pink paw pads and pinkish-colored ears. ONE time, when someone asked me what color my cat was, I replied, "Pink and white." As true as it was, it sounded unbelievable! EDIT - Also, a pink nose As I type this, I have an "Orange Man Good Kitty" 🐈 on my lap! 😻

I got mine at a very sad time in my life. My son had left home one of my best friends died after a long cancer fight my fil died unexpectedly and my father had just been diagnosed. My husband took me to a breeder and I sat among 3 litters of kittens- I saw one I really liked buy this tiny little guy kept climbing in my lap and crying. I have been very lucky to have had 6 wonderful kitties in my life, 3 are gone, and 3 are stil with my family. While each has been/is a wonderful cat and family member, all very sweet and to loving and bonded to humans, two in particular will always stand out for me. Those two,who also happened to be closely bonded together, really showed me how much of a relationship two beings can develop, and how much of importance can be communicated, even without sharing a species or common language. my soul cat was a brother to me. My ex said he brought the cat home because he was the runt of a litter of kittens and there was talk of euthanasia. I didn't realize it then but I had the most amazing connection with that cat. I didn't have Stinky for very long. He died his first night at the animal hospital after only a couple weeks of illness when he was just 3 or 4. When I left him at the hospital, they said it was for IV fluids. So, when they called that night, I was really shocked. I have a little scar from when he was scared of a dog and jumped into my arms. I still feel sharp loss when I think of it. It was 26 years ago. I go back to July 2 years ago, our winter here in the Southern Hemi. Cold windy night, I get out of an Uber after spending an awful day at the hospital. (They wanted to keep me in, but I felt reasonable enough to go home and almost felt drawn back there.) Before I was even properly out of the Uber, Cathy the Calico Cat is crying out to me from the roof of my house. Had never seen her before, and we have been sould mates since. I had a SOUL cat for nine years and we were inseparable we even traveled cross country together, twice and He hated to travel. We even shared a year being the same age(cat years are different from human). I think I let him down when he suddenly disappeared and try as hard as I could, I never found him again. I got into a lot of trouble with neighbors because I was walking in the woods with a flashlight every day and night for weeks. Six months later, a feral cat moved in with me and gave birth to the "Tuxedo Three" right on my lap. My long-time Tuxedo buddy was gone but the Universe gave me three who grew to see me as a big kitty...nowhere near the end of the story but I do believe cats have a way to connect on a SOUL level...but, I cannot say only one or two per lifetime as with 23 cats and counting, I am being called a "cat whisperer" and after I name them, there seems a connection formed...not as deep as with my travel buddy, but the jury is still out with all these others??? ME-Owww❤😻⚡

My friend rescued my boy from her abusive mother! I didn't expect to meet him! He was dying of flea anemia had to work hard to get me out of my sleep trance! I awoke to stop an old man slitting my patio screen I kept him out! My kids I worked real hard and we saved him from the fleas! We saved each other! My boy is special needs! He needs his colon rebuilt due to his preemie status! Even though he's very expensive I will always help him! My baby has gotten me a new friend who works for my vet ! My Ragdoll chose me when I visited the litter. He immediately snuggled up with me while the others played. Fast forward 15, nearly 16 years later and he is my constant companion. I struggle with chronic illness and when my pain is high he does not leave my side. He is so intuitive. This occurred about 7 years ago. My immediate neighbor had a cat. She was a young adolescent at the time.Prior to this event, I had not seen her, nor she, me. One day, I was in my yard and she was in hers. The moment she laid eyes upon me, she came bounding over her yard, to my place. She didn't want to go home, and spent most of her nights with me. I didn't encourage her, since she belonged to someone else, and I didn't want to be accused of cat-knapping. Finally, the person who had her asked me, "Do you want her? " Duuuh!....YEAH!" In the following years, the bond between us just grew stronger. I call her my "Honey-Cat" & "Life Partner." Her name is Meow-Meow, by the way. That's how I tend to address all cats that I don't know, and after a while, I thought, "I guess that's your name." The question is, "HOW did she know?" She hadn't been poorly treated by my neighbor. He always left food out, for her. And we hadn't encountered each other, until that day.

i have a similar experience. my neighbor 3 doors down owned this black cat Shadow who she actually got from another neighbor a few doors further because he didn't get along with their other cat. i had encountered him many times before we became further acquainted because he spent most of his time outdoors and was known as a "bully" -- he scared my family cat and also a bunch of my neighbors because he had an "angry sounding" meow and would swat at people (i think it's because he was declawed and always on defense mode). i always liked him anyway but he wouldn't let anyone get close enough to pet him including me. in 2016 he was already at least 10, and out of nowhere started hanging out on my front step/garden. this happened at the end of one of the worst/hardest years of my life so far. i spent the next 2 years unemployed and spent a lot of my time sitting outside with him -- i always made sure he had food if he was hungry and even built him an insulated cat house on my front step (his owner knew about/was fine this, also she worked long hours and often into the night). he seemed to like that i sat with him even though i couldn't touch him yet. around 2018 he started coming into my house and didn't wanna leave -- his owner would come to pick him up around 10 pm and he would hide and meow unhappily. this was odd because i knew she loved him and that within her house Shadow was affectionate with her and a 'normal cat' (not a mean bully). apparently his owner around this time had adopted a second cat and shadow didn't get along with him very well (though shadow didn't get along too well with my cats either, but was civil and deferred to them). not long after he started coming into my house he started to let me pet him and would sit on my lap and come sit on my bed with me. his owner would let him out in the morning and he would come straight over to my house, and stay there/in my yard until he was "taken home from daycare". after about a year of this (shadow being reluctant to go home every night) it became kind of a mostly unspoken thing that shadow just lived with me, and instead would have brief visits with his owner(/previous owner). i definitely wasn't trying to steal him, he just kind of chose me to live with? we were kind of co-owners of shadow, but in my neighbor's part mostly in name -- we discussed health decisions and stuff with her, and he kept wearing the collar she gave him kinda thing. shadow and i quickly became super attached and we were very protective of each other, he was super clingy and would cry to go to bed at night so i didn't stay up too late and would greet me so happily everytime i returned home. he was a completely different cat from how he used to be with me and friendlier with others; a huge softie and a cuddlebug. even getting closer to my cats! he had seemed lonely since my neighbor was always busy and was misunderstood/hated by most of my other neighbors. he needed someone who had endless compassion and patience and i needed that reminder to care for myself and feel needed and wanted and chosen. every night he would wrap all his legs around my arm like i was a teddy bear and nuzzle into me and sleep soundly and happily; he would also lay on my chest in bed and just gaze at me, and would purr loudly when i said his name. i could write so much more but i'm getting long-winded. he passed away peacefully in early 2023 around the age of 20, cradled in my arms with his (old) neighbor petting him. i have 2 other cats who i love deeply and feel extremely bonded to, but shadow was something particularly special. he was my best friend and i would have done anything for him. i'm very thankful he chose to spend the latter part of his life as my cat.

One of our cats was rescued from a hoarding situation. She was our 2nd white cat with a little pink nose. Probably why she was already named Pinkie before we took her in. She was opinionated, strong-willed and more outgoing than any cat we've ever had. She was going to go where she wanted and sit on you if she chose to. She had many health challenges and was not an easy cat to provide guardianship for. And she was an absolute terror at the vet's office, literally causing one of the doctors to LEAVE the practice. But there was something so indescribably wonderful about her, and she chose me as her person about 10 seconds after arriving. If I had a bad day, she was immediately there to make it better seconds after I sat down - coming from any room in the house. I could instantly feel my blood pressure lowering and breathing change. She slept on my head / pillow at night - and I could NOT sleep without her there. She was an odd, mess of a cat, but she was definitely my soul cat. We only had her for 6 years before cancer took her. Felt like someone inserted a razor just above my belt line and carved out everything between there and my shoulders. Still hurts to this day and that was in 2011. And I still miss her terribly! SO thankful for those 6 years, though.

Several years ago my wife and I came home and saw an orange cat parked in front of our garage. She had half a mouse as a bribe and tried to get inside the house. I shooed her away; but the next several days every time I opened the door to go inside she would run across the street and try to get inside. Finally we gave up and let her inside. We asked the.neighbors about her and were told she went to every house before choosing ours. Once she was "adopted" every time my wife and I would try to watch television or read a newspaper the cat would jump into our lap, place its' front paws on our shoulders, and stare into our eyes. I wish there was a happy ending; but about a year later the cat died at the veterinarian's office great terror and pain. God, I miss that cat.

My first cat and third cat, female Russian Blues. My first cat, Smokey, passed with unknown causes young. My Third cat, Solstice, I believe is my soul cat. She has very close behaviors as Smokey and both liked sleeping in a very odd spot with both more meowing at the door when gone. I recently stayed home because I wasn’t feeling well, solstice hit call to a person who I had up and they brought me to the ear Room, she saved my life. I was developing a build up in my immune system with walking pneumonia and severe bronchitis. The worst part of this was that my blood sugars are off. The result was, being in the hospital for three weeks and being diagnosed with a blood infection due to that immune system problem and the walking pneumonia. Smokey did the same in 2012 with the same symptoms and I firmly believe that solstice is Smokey and the same cat, she is my soul cat. I have two gorgeous British short hairs now, absolutely wonderful pets. A mother and one of her sons. The son I was there during his childbirth, there were complications and his mother neglected to take care of him straight away. So I carefully opened the placenta, started gently cleaning him with a wet wash cloth and help him start his breathing - that until his mother did turn his attention to him. He has been super affectionate ever since, moreso than almost any other cat I've ever owned. Still...on the subject of soul cats...I can only, suddenly, think of Sushi. Sushi was a European short hair mutt. Me and my gf at the time wanted a kitten, when we arrived at the place the woman off-handedly commented that we were the only ones who responded, that she was about to migrate and that she would put the mother and the rest of the litter by the front door if no one else responded. Shocked we took in mother and her, I believe it were 5 kittens until we found them all a home. Sushi however we kept, she soon became my 'pirate monkey' always jumping on my shoulder, perfectly and calmly perched, just to be with me and witness whatever I was doing. When my gf and I quite messily broke up she kept the pets, the apartment and was all vindictive nastiness (even though, in hindsight, she was very much in the wrong). When I got back in touch with her, many years later, I learned Sushi had died within just 2 years. She apparently just...gave up the ghost :(. Along with all the other stuff I learned I decided to just not stay in touch with her any longer and Sushi...over Sushi I'll always remain heart broken. I am sorry my lil' pirate monkey. I should have fought harder to keep you with me :(.

hmmm, i just always thought these were signs that we had a great relationship. while not all of the cats i have had the joy of living with were as close to me as the rest i have had way more than the one or two that you claim is all we get. maybe most people don't need more than a few, but then again maybe it is more of how many cats you allow to touch your soul.

There's actually some pretty awful human to cat behavior in this video. grabbing a sleeping or resting cat, dragging a cat onto the lap, holding a cat up on it's backend - awful behavior, didn't watch a anymore 😢

I understand exactly what this video is trying to convey; however, my cat is not my soul cat. Don’t get me wrong I love my kitty kitty very much but the universe didn’t align with me till my doctor prescribed me drugs.
