@@noodle253242 I am glad it has helped you I would look up "the cycle of abuse". Google images shows a lot of simple type graphs that are easy to understand. Like if there is ONE thing I would do in a relationship is trying to make that person feel special and not saying like "oh yeah my ex was like this and that good thing you’re not" cause even of that sounds like good it just makes you feel like you’re 1 out of many others, like you’re just a sort of experience... Well, now he’s in love (he told me that as an ex already...) and too bad for him I’m not...well how could I when he was treating me like this 😅 Anyway, make that special person actually feel special!

@Archemel6 жыл бұрын
Beanie Ginger he might not have been as hostile as the abusive girlfriend, but when Ali brought up a concern and told basically that he hurt her feelings by blaming her for not coming, he continued to blame Ali saying, "I didn't think it would he a big deal. You're freaking out about it." Again, somewhat blaming Ali for a legitimate thing she was upset about, instead of saying something like, "I didn't mean to make you feel that way, I'm sorry." Acknowledging his own mistake and taking responsibility for it, and apologising for it. No relationship is going to be perfect, but it needs to be filled with open communication. So Ryan and Ali were probably a little "better" on the relationship spectrum, but his lack of active listening when Ali opened up to him, and his reluctance to accept his mistake is a little. Eh.

The best thing about this is that it’s kind of subtle. It shows that emotional abuse isn’t always yelling and threatening and throwing things. It’s sometimes just about the little things, like having to walk on eggshells around your abuser, having to explain every little thing to them, as if you’re defending yourself. The sad thing is, many people don’t know they’re being abused because they only think of the really severe things, like physical abuse. And this is often how really abusive relationships start. With someone who’s a little bit controlling and uptight. I love the little hints and giveaways you can see throughout the video. You have to really be looking for signs of abuse to really notice it sometimes.

It was trivial high school matters, rather than more "adult" abuse scenarios such as the video. So I see where OP comment is coming from.

This is absolutely terrifying because I’ve been with someone like this before. Guys! Although this focused on an abusive relationship between a couple, this can totally happen platonically, too! Please remember that. People's action cannot be justified by how long they've been in your life, and if your friend(s) become abusive, you need to take action, and try to find help. I just wanted to point that out.

Buzzfeed is full of creators, actors, artists. That's what they are, a creative place. The fact that they don't allow their employees to express their creativity and passion out of the Buzzfeed environment is just crazy. Employees have left this company on their own because they didn't have the liberty to create content of their own since it wasn't related to Buzzfeed. So much for being a creative place huh?

this is what abusive people do. they seem normal. nice. but whenever something they don't like happens, you're immediately to blame. abusive people blame you for everything that's ever gone wrong for them. act like they own you. deliberately hurt your feelings, then play it off as teasing. know when something's wrong, or when you're feeling bad, but don't even bother asking if you're okay. everyone needs to be taught what abusive relationships are like - not just the ones with domestic violence.

Your comment really hit home for me because you didn't specify that it was about dating relationships like how most of this video did. People think that dating relationships are the only ones that can be abusive. But I've been in a friendship for over a year now that's been nothing but abusive. I'm still too scared to leave. She calls me stupid and she tells me to shut up all the time and when she gets upset about something it's my fault and if I try to hang out with anybody other than her she gets upset today she blocked me on Facebook just because yesterday I went and hung out with one of my other friends. She blocked my phone number too.
@Epiphannie18 жыл бұрын
Your words are so true. As the one being emotionally abused, you end up anxiously scrambling to make sure the other person is happy and comfortable, and you take on so much worry that you neglect your own happiness. Especially in groups, because you know there's the potential for awkward tension if even the smallest thing happens, so you'll take even more just to prevent others from having to see the abuser in his/her natural state. It's especially easy for "people-pleasers" to get into this kind of situation. Important to note that this can happen in friendships as well, not just relationships.
@thesubjectofstars8 жыл бұрын
Nightwing009 abuse can take place in any type of relationship, of course. i'm so sorry your "friend" has been horrible to you. i had a girlfriend who was just like that. she made me believe that i would never have anyone love me again if i broke up with her. but with the help of my current girlfriend, i left her. it takes an incredible amount of strength, but i know you have it in you. you can't let her take advantage of you, because there WILL be other people who would love to be friends with you - people who will treat you with respect and will be there for you when you feel badly. her blocking you on fb and blocking your number might just be the push you need to clean your hands of her. it'll hurt, but you'll be so, so better off for it.
@scarlettwinblade80657 жыл бұрын
At the beginning I was confused about where the abusive actions were, but then when they finally arrived at their destination I could definitely see how toxic the girlfriend was. I feel bad for the people who really do experience people like this. Just remember toxic people may hurt to let go, but aren’t worth the pain.

It's so sad....and triggering tbh.... and for those who don't know, that shower scene was also hard to watch....invading privacy in moments when you want and need some time alone is a tactic for manipulation aswell...it keeps you on edge all the time.

this could be the setup for ACTUAL movie
@DelinahLovesHouseBunnies8 жыл бұрын
+Christine Turner It *is* an actual movie--a short film. But I know what you're saying. It could make a good full-length film, yes. But I really like short films; I wish I could see more of them. I like short stories (literature), too. So I really like it as it is. I like the subtle bits, such as how the abuser asks who Brittany is texting at the beginning. It could just be casual curiosity, but in retrospect, we realize it's part of her controlling who Brittany talks to because she so fears betrayal and abandonment. She gives a certain look (I watched it again). Another good bit is when she mocks Ryan for having squirrels in his childhood home: "Ooh, scary," even though he isn't even saying they were scary like rats (I find ratties adorable; I miss my friend's pet rats that have passed away). 💕🐭🐭 He is merely mentioning something he has in common with Brittany--an animal infestation--but she twists his words. Could just be friendly teasing, but she later goes on to twist Brittany's and Allie's words, and to mock both of them more obviously. Evidently this is a habit she's developed for selfishly controlling others so that she herself feels safer and more in control of her life. And when Brittany says, "She's always late but blames me," it doesn't sound like that big of a deal, until we find out her partner angrily blames her for *everything*. Only those who are hurting want purposely to hurt others, but some hurting people turn the attack inward instead, like Brittany, so blame from another resonates with their self-blame and they accept it. I love how the ending has one more subtle moment: Allie notices Brittany crying in the rearview mirror--I'm sure she'll comfort her later, when they're alone--but Brittany's girlfriend ignores her and chats and laughs with Ryan, confirming that she is thoughtless toward Brittany. Not once does she think to look over at her own girlfriend, to check in with how she's doing. During the whole film, she only thinks about her own feelings and desires. Of course, the meaning of the crying is communicated well. Brittany sees the happy, straight couple and realizes she is very unhappy. She finally admits to herself that Allie is right, she is being abused, and now she has to do the hardest thing she's ever done: stand up for herself. 😔 ////Bunny kisses for all!

Dear Buzzfeed. Thank you for this video. Because of this video I was able able to identify and remove myself from an abusive friendship. I'm still healing, but I'm better for it than when I was in it.

I was in a friendship like this in high school. One day she flew into a rage over me wanting to go finish some homework rather than do what she felt like doing one lunch time, and she treated me like the enemy ever since. I found out that I wasn't her first best friend that she'd done the exact same thing to. :0

They also don't have to be directly rude, I am not a lesbian, but my ex bf before my current relationship kept stereotyping me and telling me and asking me why I'm not like other girls and why I am not breaking up with him for someone better looking, well listen up, I was not breaking up with you because you needed love and I tried to give it to you but you didn't want it. And now sad to say I have found someone a lot nicer and better for me, not better than you... and for those reading this you wanna know what he did after a week into my new relationship? Well he called me and asked why I hate him, tbh I hate him because of that, I don't hate him because he was skeptical of me.

abuse happens in private, it is usually indirect comments/remarks, backhanded compliments which is a subtle way to manipulate you . Usually involves embarrassment, jealousy, guilt tripping, rage outbursts (disproportionate), then comes the apologies, followed by charm, attention, love and it starts up again. Power and control cycle. When you are in it and isolated from friends/family, its hard to see what that person is doing. But you'll feel something isn't right. Always follow your gut :)

I know you put the quotation marks and I know this was a while ago but they are not your friends if they don’t believe you about things like that.
@jessiepolana8006 жыл бұрын
Olivia Webster exactly, friends are supposed to be supportive, calling someone crazy is so dismissive. I rather have 1 true friend than 100 fake ones. She deserve better than those “friends”
