These are, by far, the best knot strength videos on KZbin. Thank you!

Thanks for the tests ! Wish you would test end of line loop knots

Interesting results on fluoro, the knot seems to do very well on the thicker lines, similar to mono.

05:37 ??? Can't believe the knot finish makes such big difference, nice explanation.

It does! I really learnt a lot testing this knot, its worth comapring the results side by side with the Trilene knot.

Some excellent content here. Have used the uni knot for 30 years as a charter fishing skipper. We double the main line before tying the uni knot, and have never broken a knot. Would love to see the test for that variation. We do similar with braid, direct to a swivel or snap swivel, but we double it twice, four strands, then tie a uni. Again, have never broken at the knot

Just comparing the results now to the Trilene, its so interesting that the one is better for lighter monofilanent and one is better on thicker lines.

It’s incredible really, it just shows how much abrasion you get in these knots and how much it varies from knot to knot.

Which is the strongest fishing knot Uni knot or trilene knot..
@toitfishing3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rahul, for what line type specifically? For example in Mono it’s an interesting one, as on the lower diameters, 50lb and less the Trilene does outperform but the Uni steps it up a notch in the heavier line types, 80lb and above. Fluoro is slightly different, you may need to look at Episode 3 & 4 for specific charts in the video, I have them under “Chapters” so you can just click straight to them. Tightlines.

Since you also test Improved Clinch knot you need to test Modified Uni knot as well. Cause when tied Uni knot with braid line people need modified version to avoid being slip. Finally i'am sory for my english .
@toitfishing3 жыл бұрын
Oh don’t apologies about your English, I understood you perfectly. I have got both the Modified Uni knot and the Double Uni Knot on my list. Braid does slip that is a certain, thank you for the support and comments. Tightlines.

Need a much better more detailed video on tying the knot with each type of line. I use this knot and love it but found out the hard way that the way you wrap the tag end after creating the loop through the hook/lure eye matters. You have to go in the correct direction from the start or the know isn’t good at all. Please make a more detailed video and explain which direction everything goes. Thanks.

Hi Michael, appreciate the feedback I typically release 2-3 Videos per fishing knot. The video you watched is the Testing video, part of my World's Strongest knot series. There is also a "How to" video on the Uni Knot and a "Unwrapped" video where I look at any advantages/short falls of each knot which I observed during testing and tying the knot. Take a look at those and let me know what you think. Thanks for taking the time to review this video. Tightlines.

@@toitfishing I wonder if adding extra wraps to a snell knot would break it faster. I wonder what the best amount of wraps are. Specifically this snell kzbin.info/www/bejne/mH-vaYKDnbqtorc

@@timbowtton131 Hi Tim, I have got 2 more knots to get sorted in line to line connections I will be looking at Loop knots and Shank knots following that . Thanks for sending the link, I will take a look in due course. I think with a lot of these shank knots if the correct hook is chosen and it is deburred well at eyelet or is spade hook or is a brased hook eyelet, I think these knots have potential to be really strong. The only insight I can offer at this stage is look at the Albright knot testing and overview video, the concept is similar and failing points may be similar. Thanks for support and Tightlines.

Only 3 wraps for mono and fc? Try 5-6 wraps.

You need to go thru the hook eye twice it will improve to beat all knots

Hi Ian, agreed this will certainly stop some movement within the knot, it will be interesting to see how this stacks up as soon as I get testing on these improved versions of these knots. Tightlines.

The other way is to tie the whole knot as a double line.
@toitfishing3 жыл бұрын
@@mcaddc I have got this down on my list to look at also. Appreciate you pointing this out tho. Guessing you prefer the double lined technique? Do you tend to use this option for Braid only or on all three different line types? Tightlines and thx for the input.

@@toitfishing, Thanks for the in-depth research and testing. I don't actually use this knot much. Depending on the rig, the Palomar is usually my goto in most cases. Time is of the essence when the fish are on the bite!
@toitfishing3 жыл бұрын
@@mcaddc appreciate the support and encouraging comments, I did do the Palomar knot also on the testing when you have time take a look, the main thing with palomar is the placement of the final loop, which actually effects the strength a lot. Would appreciate your thoughts on that also. Tightlines and have a nice Easter weekend.

One of the best known expressions in SA, loved seeing them arrive in Toti for their holiday in December, with their plastic fishing box and some of those red and white dobertjies on every single rig with a 6 ounce lead on and catching mullet in 2 foot of water with a 6/0 hook 1 inch away from the swivel. I meant trying to catch.
