No unicorns were harmed in the making of this video. Can’t say the same for woodcutters or elves though.

Breeding is a good source of food and trade goods for most forts. Personally, my latest fort uses a modded raw to allow giant cave spiders to be fully tamed if bred in captivity, as well as trained as war animals and used as exotic mounts. It's quite entertaining watching elves flee in terror as my horrific giant spider pets rush them
@mathdarven5634
@mathdarven5634 Жыл бұрын
Rather than modifying the raw files by yourself, some mad dude made a mod making any vanilla animal tameable and trainable. Which is useful, knowing that you can't train unicorns for war while elves can, and I want my Unicorn Rider Death Squad (or if you want to try and train any small cute animal for war but don't know what spawns in your biome)

@@quantumpassport3573 Next update is villains part 2, then the map update, then the big wait (myths and magic). Listening to a few of the interviews I am half convinced that the armies update is going to get moved up to before Myths and Magic as well. They were not working on Myths and Magic yet before the steam release, unless you count brainstorming, in which case they were working on a lot more than Myths and Magic. On the plus side for @ThortheGodly, Hauling Improvements Part 1 may get included in the armies update, officially right after Myths and Magic, but possibly before.

Hooved kicks are nothing to underestimate: One of the first Forgotten Beasts that entered my fortress's caverns was of an antelope body, with mandibles for extra bite. Most of its kills, including some 5-6 other Forgotten Beasts were with rear leg kicks absolutely demolishing ribcages, skulls, shattering bones. It has grown Tough, Strong and Agile from its hundreds of minor kills such as blind cave bears and cave crocodiles. I am not looking forward to claiming the first cavern layer anytime soon.

I did this once, worked great as we converted the deep soil into an underground cavern with mushroom to graze on. Few walls and cages got me nearly 12 unicorns to start with. 5+ years of lots of training and several foals grown adult and have gave birth new new unicorns, this 3rd generation of baby unicorns were fully domestic and would be just as loyal as any of the horses we had. I then tried to release the 1st gen unicorns back into the wild, worked great as most went back to being wild without the handlers feeding them. Except one unicorn that went as a dwarf was leading it to the surface. We lost a good dwarf, impaled in the heart by a unicorn horn and bled out fast. The unicorn was scratched and bitten by the now deceased dwarf and was quick caged up. It earned a name among my dwarf's and had it cage moved under a tree in the surface, as they planned on releasing it still after the death. They only to realize it was dead in it's cage later. Upon the doctors further examination cause of death was determined to be infection caused by the bite wound it suffered. Damn
