Recent subscriber and 40k player. Obviously I decided to punish myself and become a Guard player. Love your videos! I'm sure all these reviews are done already. Perhaps for the future you think you could also put the weapon profiles up along with the stat line in these videos? Also hope to get some more battle reports! Keep doing what you're doing!

Playing guard is not a punishment though, more like voluntary homework 😁 It's my first and only faction as well and I'm loving it. So many units, so many ways to play. And when we get a codex with new detachments, the possibilities will be, eh, probably paralyzing I'm afraid..

I liked this video. Glad to see an update on artillery units so quick after the changes. I tried a 2 FOB units as bombasts the other day. I really didn’t care for their output. 9 mortars is cheaper than 4 bombasts and I think the mortars are much better. The AP1 kills the bombasts. May as well be AP0

Fob also have sustained hits which technicaly makes them hit almost at 3+.

as someone who is looking to get into astra militarum and being new to 40k, your videos have helped greatly when it comes to understanding each unit and which ones compliment each other. it has helped with coming up with a 1000 point list to start off at my local game store. have you thought about making some videos featuring strategies to use in battle with various units with the recent rule changes?

Just a heads up born soldiers has a line of text that says the unit you're shooting at has to be VISIBLE to gain lethal hits so it doesn't work on indirect. Still would work for direct use of artillery though

Yeah, unfortunately not against infantry which this is mostly geared at. But having it against monsters is great when Angron starts smashing up the deployment zone (except for blast but that's another issue, solved by falling back if possible). I think our sergeant here recorded these reviews in a row since he is well aware of the line of sight requirement, still good that you point that out for those who might not be.

Between the Basilisk and the Wyvern, an enemy unit hit by both and suffered one wound will be having a bad day.

Fun note, if you use UKTC rulings you can't fire out of ground floor (US: First floor) windows so this strategy with the sentinel and basilisk wouldn't work in that setting sadly.

I posted this on the artillery video but also posting it here to try to get more eyes on it and answers. I’m so confused. The rule states “an UMODIFIED hit roll of 1-3 always fails”. But the +1 from Heavy and the +1 from Take Aim order are MODIFYING the hit roll down from 4/5 to 2/3. So why are people saying 1-3 auto fails regardless? The hit roll isn’t unmodified anymore since it’s being modified by heavy and take aim.

Because modifying it doesn't exempt it from the rule. Think about it like phases. First you remove Unmodified hits. Then you can modify those that did even though it wouldn't affect the Hit unless there was a -1 effect.

Good point at the possiblity using artillery with direct fire. Really, why not. Bassilisk is self-propelled artillery and has some durability. I am also curious about is how you guys use sentinels? When I use them my opponents just kill them in first turn and i can not get benefits from recon after 1st turn. I am thinking of using them in pair and if killed use reinforsments strategem on them.
