The thing I've always wanted to do with a Stormlord is convert it up to look like a rolling cathedral, fill it with Scions or Kasrkin who are like, the duty-bound honor guard of that particular rolling church. Have the entire army themed around being part of a shrine world where all buildings and settlements are mobile. Maybe make the rest of the army be mounted in Chimeras or tanks. I just think it'd be neat. Not good, strictly speaking, but neat.

I have played ALOT of games with this unit. So great. Except for the movement problems with the 10th edition rules where a titanic tank can not just run over ruins... 3 ratling units inside is always fun to... :P

gonna take this as second super heavy when going from 2000 to 3000 points, it pushes along with chimeras while baneblade, dorn and malcador stays back and gives fire support

movement is the biggest challenge. it is a crazy points sink but could swing a game.

Remember Stormlord is Titanic so even in combat it can fall back through enemy units and doesn’t take desperate escape test. Give it move move move first and it falls back 12” right into the center of the board and disembarks.

The sacrifice of its shooting is pretty steep, but totally good to snag points!

Can fill it with catachan and stracken to give it a scout move and a lot of fun options.

I had that idea too but since it lacks the Dedicated Transport keyword,nit cannot gain the Scout ability.

Mount up doesn't ever seem like a good use of this unit. The best benefit is getting one Lord Solar order to cover multiple units inside for the +1BS, and you can't jump back in if anyone's left, but you'll want to stuff this thing full of heavy weapon teams and elites with special weapons, so it's probably never going to be empty. Certainly not worth just making a longer charge for a melee unit. Now if the wording let it only jump one unit back in, but up to capacity, THAT would be a great screening trick. Maybe in the codex? Not like the super heavies are seen in tournaments, and it's not like this is even considered the best one, so maybe it will see some love?

StormLord Disco Ball 3 HWT = 9 3 platoon cmd squads = 3 1 infantry squad = 1 +4 on the StormLord = 4

I've been looking at the crassuswith 2 squads of tempestus, 2 tempestus command squads, and 2 ogrym bodyguards as a good assault and defend in a similar vein

The second load out is 2 kasrkin squads, and 2 tech priests with servitors attached to each, since you can upgun those squads with 2 plasma guns

I was wondering how this tank would perform filled with lascannon Heavy Weapon Squads paired with “take aim” order from Lord Solar to really make use of those firing decks

Does anybody have any advice not really sure where to ask this, I painted a kreig kill team when they first came out and just recently painted my first 10 Cadians and I guess I’m just wondering if it would look weird on the table to have classic Cadian tanks /infantry mixed with kreig infantry and tanks mainly I just like the grey look for ones like malcadors and macharius.

Guard get thrown together all the time. When multiple regiments fight in the same area, it's usually too expensive to send them elsewhere, so they tend to just get combined into a new mixed regiment (and usually stay put). Especially if they take enough losses that the individual pieces can't function as full armies anymore. Also, you can make your own regiment that either just happens to look similar to the famous ones, or in canon was inspired by them and copied their looks.

I see folks do it all the time. Just make sure it's obvious to your opponent what the unit is and then go for it.

3x Lascannon Heavy Weapon Teams (9+4 = 13shots) & 5 Ratlings for 5 Sniper shots, all from the safety of the Stormlord!

If you wanna chuck lotsa dice, run 3 mortar teams plus an infantry squad with 2 more mortar team. Thats 11 d6 blast

If you get one just build it so you can swap between all the variants

If you are going to spend that much time and money on a single model, add the extra couple bucks and 40 minutes to magnetize it. There's lots of tutorials out there, and we have a Codex coming... sometime. So whatever you build may not even be in the rules anymore, let alone good.
