Wow, I never have seen a plane land coming from the ocean. Any idea why they changed it for this landing?

So when storms come into the Los Angeles area and the wind starts picking up they will go to this west bound landing and east bound take off operations. It’s really fun as an aviation enthusiast as you get a different approach and look of the Los Angeles metro area.

They chose the site they did at KLAX because of its highly consistent westerly wind, which was better for takeoffs and landings as the runways could be lined up to take advantage of it. They reverse the airport whenever there is an offshore wind of sufficient strength; I believe 10 knots is the threshold. I live 3 miles south of the airport - I can sorta planespot from my bedroom window.
