United Airlines had no right to boot any of them off the plane. Generally, airliners who want to make space due to overbooking have to block the booted off passengers from entering the plane in the first place instead of asking them to leave their seats. Also, all United Airlines offered in compensation was an $800 voucher. What’s $800 compared to a $1,500 plane ticket. Changing my fight from United Airlines to either American Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines may cost $200 more but at least I won’t have to worry about being booted off the plane once I’m seated.
