This is hands down the best tutorial on Prefabs I've ever seen. Far more engaging and easy to understand than the stuffy official Unity tutorials. Awesome job, John!

I looked at the game you are making, blood and mead and saw that the ground under the grass was as clear as the trees or sky. from the perspective of someone that plays games I believe it would be aesthetically pleasing if you made the ground dark or fade to dark instead of clear. I loved the tutorial as I am someone just learning how to make games.

3:55 Something thats really important that needs to be clarified is that the object thats pulled out of the Hierarchy and put into the assets apparently has to be a merged group. I had several bodyparts that I would highlight and pull into the assets but it wouldn't become a prefab until I created an empty in the Hierarchy and stuffed all the bodyparts into that empty THEN dragged that empty into the assets. One little hiccup like that stops the entire process : /

A very good tutorial, but can you redo one with prefab variants?
@gielheldens40952 жыл бұрын
I was wondering, you were talking about 'applying to all' (with the rotating spike obstacle) and then probably saved it. Such that you had to do it all over. What would be a way of preventing this? Maybe working with git such that you can revert to older version? Or is there some smart prefab trick to overcome this? Thank you!

What a out the scripts on the prefabs? Do they "update" and all show the same value or are they different? How can I make them independently from each other prefab? Is thsi something prefab related or code related?

what about animated prefabs?
@GaviTSRA4 жыл бұрын
Cool video and I learned much but I have a problem. I have a prefab of a part of my 2D game because it is randomly generated. In this prefab there are ground block grass blocks and coins. The coins have a script on them that if the player touches the coin adds one to the coin counter. The problem is that I can't assign the player in the script in the prefab. Sry if this is simple to solf but I'm new. I hope someone can help me.

Hey I just found your channel by youtube suggestions. Are you going to keep making new tutorials for unity? I have a few topics which i personally found arent really well explained or not much out there on youtube. If youre interested. I think with the way you explain things, you might be able to succeed at those unless youre doing exclusively Unity2D
@LostRelicGames5 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex! This channel is NEW so I will be making heaps more videos: Unity tutorials, both 2d and 3d, Game design philosophy, art creation and general Indie content. Basically anything an indie dev working with unity would find useful.

A more decent video. Will be better if you cut the unnecessary intro and cut straight to prefab in unity. Also, need to cut out all the parts where u mention your old games, not everyone knows you or any of your old game and we dont need to know those to understand what prefab is and how to create, edit and update them.
