Speaking as a Columbia University graduate student encampment member, private universities are corporations and cannot be reformed! There is no such thing as 're-imagining the university' (an initiative at my alma mater the University of Chicago) and university administrators are complicit in genocide and academia at large has remained neutral/morally flaccid in the face of mass murder. I'm done engaging with these institutions to seek an education and 'future' through them, and joining the struggle to abolish them for good. A socialist future depends on public intellectual institutions, scholarship, and education and this is necessary for the deconstruction of Israeli apartheid, occupation, and a FREE FREE PALESTINE--everyone else in academia speaking jargon around this basic fact is a part of this white supremacist 'academic' structure and an impediment to Palestinian as well as human liberation 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

Maya’s scholarship is definitely questionable. There is a Supreme Court Justice, who is an Arab in Israel, who put a president of Israel and a Prime Minister in Israel in jail. In 2022 there was an Arab party, which was a coalition partner in the Israeli government. One of the biggest banks in Israel has an Arab as its chairman. the propaganda this broadcast in Israel are absolutely false and the questionable scholarship of these people is nothing more than propaganda from a pamphlet. There is so many lies in this broadcast it’s hard to believe these people are not blushing when they spout such bullshit.

I wonder if she knows that Arabs enjoy preferential treatment in terms of acceptance to many Israeli universities especially in the medical schools, this can be seen widespread as the medical system has many many Arab doctors and personnel. Universities in Israel accept and welcome Arab students and foster their success. My guess is her research is based on one sided untruths rather than true empirical research. Conversely I doubt that any Israeli would be accepted to any Arab university across the Middle East
