Buyer beware. There is no excuse for not getting it checked out, even small dealerships will let you take the car to a mechanic shop that is close by for inspection and I’ve had private parties meet me at mechanic shops to have cars inspected before purchasing

Idk, a car for $900 would be the first red flag. Buying it from a mechanic that “fixes” and resells cars would be the second red flag, and id walk away. Really, how well do you expect a $900 car to work? This is really a buyer beware situation. Also, you always have the option to negotiate some sort of warranty on any used car.

I do agree but on other hand the guy could've spent the 60 bucks and stopped in any random shop during test drive and got it checked out. He definitely knows better. Can't trust anyone right now. Car places lie and once u sign it's game over. They don't give a shite! Dealer n Ohio tried to game me like this. And would've if I didn't get checked during test drive. Was buying small car commute for son n drove over n hour to get there. Found a random shop paid fee, and the guy called me to garage to show me all the damage and pink foam pouring from head gaskets. The car was fckd, n I almost got fcked too. All the guys there said run as fast as u can. Don't buy it! I almost gave them 5000 cash. When got back to shop the guy disappeared. When saw him he never asked if I was ready to buy or ready to do paperwork nothing he couldn't even look me in the eye. Told him what he was doing was fcked up and probably illegal n that I was definitely reporting him to attorney general for business practices. He never said one word except sorry . Sorry cuz he got busted not sorry cuz he was WRONG

As-is sales should be criminalized. They enable sleazy and greedy people to sell dangerous and defective cars to vulnerable people who don't have the time or money to get the car checked out by a mechanic first. There should be a law requiring some kind of warranty for any car sale, at the very least.
