1:06 that is the problem. we are adjured to make our bodies the living sacrifice not dead animals. we are reminded we are chosen to be a kingdom of god's priests and kings. the letter to the hebrews should make us appreciate the new covenant and subject ourselves with joy and love in our hearts to the law of god reflecting his very image we were created for and thus created for such.

Talking of the shadow of Jesus's sacrifice found in Isaac, it's also of note that Isaac carried the wood upon his back to the place of sacrifice as the two of them went on together. (Gen. 22:6) A perfect shadow of the road to Calvary.

32:34 was Jesus offered on Mount Moriah or Golgotha? Seems confusing at that point
@DavidPawsonMinistry3 жыл бұрын
The Old City of Jerusalem is built on top of a mountain called Moriah which is surrounded by valleys Mount Moriah is the mountain on which Solomon built The Temple and where the Temple Mount sits today , There are two sites reported to be Golgotha where the cross stood : - There is a small hill that looks like a Scull, where the Bus station is located today, and is next to the Garden tomb - and there is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre ...............both sites are situated on top of Mount Moriah
@PeterGarofalo3 жыл бұрын
@@DavidPawsonMinistry interesting that Abraham was to sacrifice/worship on the mountains of Moriah . & then later David takes the head of Goliath & puts it on a pole outside Jerusalem . Both Prophets had a revelation of Jesus & His sacrifice & finished work on the cross.

6:02 "not his style, not his language." the writer also declares "WE (paul does not speak of knowing anything as "we") must pay closer attention to what WE HAVE HEARD..." but paul claims to have been personally taught by jesus-one on one, even better teacher-student scenario than what the disciples and apostles had.
@JesusWantsU Жыл бұрын
My conclusion to the evidences of who Hebrews was written to is that it was likely written to the Christians of Israel, especially southern Israel and Jerusalem. I also see Paul as the likely writer since he's updating them about Timothy and how the two intend to visit. Paul's association with Timothy and desire to visit Jerusalem were paramount aspects of Paul's life in those years. And then, to me, the mention about Italian Christians does not indicate the letter was going to Italy, but more like it is coming from Italy. Maybe during his first house incarceration in Rome.
@kimberlya95918 ай бұрын
How could it be TO Italy, when it clearly says FROM? Ch 13v24 "Those FROM Italy greet you" - that's like closing a letter you wrote TO someone and saying "everyone here sends their greetings" as if saying the rest of the family (FROM where the letter is being sent FROM) sends their greetings.
@DavidPawsonMinistry8 ай бұрын
If you please listen to what David says - he acknowledges it is sent ' from' those in Italy - he does not say it is sent 'to' Italy ....but sent to the Church in Rome "from" everyone in Italy - and specifically this letter is sent to just half the church in Rome during the time of Nero - the jewish believers The pressure is on Christians - persecution - damage to property and having possessions taken from them - and imprisonment This was happening to all christians but the half to which this letter is written - the Jewish Believers have a way out of persecution ......by returning to teh synagogue Synagogs were registered -and legal the Christian church was the underground church - unregistered From those in the whole of Italy to Jewish believers in Rome

32:02 "that mountain was where jesus died on the cross." mt moriah was recorded as where abraham was to sacrifice isaac; where david built an altar to the lord; where solomon later built the temple; rebuilt by the returning exiles from babylon; expanded by herod. golgotha where jesus was crucified while the temple still stood. therefore, jesus was not crucified on the same spot as isaac was to be sacrificed.
@DavidPawsonMinistry Жыл бұрын
Mount Moriah - is a mountain opposite Mount of Olives and separated by the Kieron Valley ....Some call Mount Moriah today the "Temple Mount" but Mount Moriah is a much greater area than just the Temple Mount on which the Temple was built . David teaches, and I believe Golgotha is outside of the old city walls, still on the Mount Moriah but away from the Temple Mount There is a hill which is still there today that looks like a scull , its right next to the bus station - Jesus was not crucified on the Temple Mount So David and I would not agree with you - both Golgohan and the place where Isaac was to be sacrificed are both located on Mount Moriah but as you state - are not one and the same place.

Just cannot understand why timid and avoiding persecution will lead to lost of salvation. Look at Peter, he denied Jesus 3 times. May be by that time, I will know why!
@bal0ng103 жыл бұрын
He deny indeed but there is still hope for he still is alive, when there is Jesus there is life, when there is life there is hope. and also everything is not yet clear unto peter and the disciples of Jesus that He is the true messiah, they believe but in part they doubt, they fully believe after they have seen Jesus resurrected, much more when they recieved the promised Ghost and i believe if peter would deny Jesus once again after that, it is nearly impossible for him to come back. God only knows.
@bal0ng103 жыл бұрын
2 types of denying, peter and judas, you see what happen to judas? he did not overcome the enemy and he came to the point of ending his life, that is why the book of hebrews teaches us not to gamble on that matter, it will be the biggest regret a christian will do to his entire life. and also if you see the story of peter, how in all days of his life he always have that heavy burden inside his heart of denying Jesus even if he knows Jesus forgive him. that is why he ask to be crucified upside down for he is not worthy to die in the same manner as Jesus.

I won't. There are many people who have denied their faith publicly to save their physical lives but i can bet you they are in heaven/heaven bound because their hearts still beat for Jesus. Even if you take our natural relationships, if you deny your father is your father, it doesn't change the fact that your father is your father because DNA says otherwise. If you deny that you are a citizen of such and such a country, it doesn't change the fact that you are a citizen of that country because your citizenship says otherwise. I love David Pawson but this is one of the things I disagree with Him. This and his teaching that a believer can lose their salvation and go to hell. The teaching that a believer can lose their salvation and go to hell is very misleading because that can never happen. The day a believer goes to hell is the day God goes to hell because the Bible says we are one spirit with Him. The Bible also says believers are the body of Christ. Jesus losing even a single believer to hell would make Him incomplete, as that is tantamount to you losing a part of your body no matter how small or insignificant that part may be. The Head (Jesus) cannot be in heaven and part of His body in Hell. Impossible. The truth is there is no bad news in the good news. We start with faith, we continue with faith and we finish with faith and Jesus is the author and finisher of it. He saves us and keeps us saved to the end. We do not and cannot keep ourselves saved and trying to do so is what Paul calls falling from grace. If good works could not qualify you, bad works cannot disqualify you. What is at stake for the believer who lives a careless life is not heaven, but their physical lives (because they endanger their lives) and ultimately their crown/reward. Heaven is not a goal for the believer, it's the starting point. The Bible says we are already citizens we are not aiming to be one day. God is not in the business of childing and unchilding His children. But i will give Mr. Pawson credit for this one thing, he always gave a disclaimer for anything he taught and said that if what He says disagrees with what the Bible, to always go with the Bible and I respect him for that. I still think he is one of the best Bible teachers (if not the best teacher) I ever encountered, and I often ask the Lord to thank him for me. Never just take a man of God's word as truth. Any of us can be in error. Search the Scriptures for yourself and if what someone says does not agree with Scripture, toss it out regardless of who said it.

@@jaysplaylists189 Salvation status can be changed throughout our earthly time period. Re-read carefully the church of Sardis warning from Jesus. If those living in sin there were about to be removed from the book of life (the roster of the Heaven-bound) so can we. The Bible says 'even the demons believe', and that there is greater responsibility on one who has been blessed (reborn), and that one who 'saves their life' for the flesh's sake or denies Jesus as Lord will be rejected by Christ before his Father.
