Been happily married 11.5 years and dated for 3.5 before. The best advice I can share with any couple through learned experience is that when you get upset and are about to fight, you CAN control your reaction. When you realize and understand that actions/reactions are choices, not reflexes, you then have two options. You can choose to add fuel to the fire, or you can choose to throw water on it and try to extinguish the fire. If both of you are aware of this and genuinely work to start doing this, it will absolutely change your relationship. That, and honest (but not brutal) communication. Grace goes a long way!

I am as well so passionate about that subject regarding child exploitation. This whole topic has really shifted my mindset and it made me realize that maybe it was wrong of me to talk about my child’s issues online. My daughter went to a friends house with my husband a while back and when she came home she told me that there was someone there who knew so much about her and said that they have watched her grow up on facebook and she had no clue who this person is. She said she thinks that’s weird how other people know so much about her and we didn’t ask her if it was ok. Ever since then I have privatized all of her pics and I will only discuss my own stuff and nothing about my kids. I will leave it up to them to discuss their business when they are older.

About the filming of children topic, i just want to say that I think it's important to consider what kind of content are you putting on the internet. Would your child be ok with that in 10-15-20 years? Would they be embarrassed? Would they be ok to see that their parents showed the entire world some really hard moments they had (like some tantrums)? Because I'm pretty sure at 2 years of age they can't really decide whether it's fine with them or not. And it's not about them not wanting to be filmed right now, but more on the impact those videos may have on them once they realize how exposed they were once.
@AW-1811

Yes exactly, how can they say their kids get to decide when they're literal babies...
@afullchalicevlogs7979
@afullchalicevlogs7979 Жыл бұрын
They can’t ever consent. Even as they get older- their entire lives- mommy and daddy are “so happy” when they decide to film. What kid is going to say “no” when that is their “normal”? They have no ability to predict the outcome, to understand how it will effect their peer group, or know that the internet is literally forever. If my parents did this to me- I would have nothing to do with them. I don’t care how much money they made off me- I would sue them for it as an adult, write them off, and then share every private and personal detail that I could about them. Return the favor, ya know?

@@afullchalicevlogs7979 i think these (influencer) parents kinda assume that their kid will follow the same path as them. And since the kid grew up only knowing what online exposure means, they won't really have a problem with that as adults. Which is obviously a very wrong and selfish way of thinking
@shaelyngoode8408
@shaelyngoode8408 Жыл бұрын
@@afullchalicevlogs7979 Or you know the kids could love it have no problem with it and be perfectly fine having their parents recording because they grew up with it and if they ever have a day where they just don’t want to film they could just say so and take a break for a day and not sue their parent when they grow up for literally nothing and just deciding to make a KZbin channel
@liliphdr

This is absolutely no hate towards any of you, because I like your podcast, both of you have really cute families. It's just my own opinion about children on the internet. You mentioned that when your child says "no, I don't want to be filmed", you'd turn off your camera. And that is awesome and more people should do that, but I don't think a 2 year old, let's say Jack as an example, is aware of what the internet is. And you might post something about him that he says yes to and then 10 years later he regrets that video is on the internet forever. And it's not even just about little kids, because you can't give informed consent until you are 18. Another thing is the memories, I get that, but you don't have to upload those memories to millions of strangers, because they are for you! I also understand how it makes you feel good when people message you and say lovely things about your family and kids, but I could not not think about those people who don't have good intentions towards my family.
@AW-1811

Thank you for this, I really hope they read comments like this and change. Neither one of these families children are old enough to understand ANYTHING about the internet...
@livm99
@livm99 Жыл бұрын
They (the kids) don't understand the impact of it all... and I strongly believe they have no idea what those videos mean - in terms of how they're on the internet for everyone to see and that's infinite once something's out there. There are many celebrities who do that (protecting their kids) and one thing they always say is that they themselves chose this life but their children haven't and so I feel like in order to want the best for your child you shouldn't show them unless they can rightfully consent. I'm sure they all know how lucrative it is to show the kids... not saying they're exploiting it, just saying they're definitely aware... especially considering the recent content I've been seeing about their daughter (Beeston's).
@-neleh-
@-neleh- Жыл бұрын
@@AW-1811 I believe that they do understand things about the internet. They have social media accounts, they vlog, the spent half the podcast talking about it. They understand enough to make their own choices on the topic and it's kinda rude to say they don't understand anything about what they work in. Maybe they shouldn't show their kid as much as they do but it's not your job to criticize them for it and it's not your choice what they do. They specifically say they know what you're talking about so maybe watch the podcast and learn more about who you're criticizing. They started tearing up about the topic so don't say they don't care about it.
@ananastea
@ananastea Жыл бұрын
yes, it’s important to consider this but i also have this in mind: do 10-year-olds fully realize what they’d consent to and what “the internet is forever” means? yet they can do and say so many more “controversial” things than a 2-year-old.
@liliphdr
@liliphdr Жыл бұрын
@-Goose- if you really actually care about your children and you even mention the dangers of the internet so you are aware then why are you not protecting them? When Sarah said "we know there are creeps out there but at the same time our followers send us messages like I love your kids they are so cute" I could not believe what she just said. I get it that it makes you feel loved that other people love your kids but those people are strangers and even though they are nice how do you that that message wasn't sent by a creep? Just because it was a nice comment it means it wasn't one?

I honestly love that y’all are both young, good looking couples, who waited until marriage to be intimate together. You don’t see that very often these days (I had a terrible experience losing mine forcefully at 14, loads of self esteem issues, only doing better now at 30). That’s really awesome.

Definitely! I vlog too and it took me a long time to figure out a balance between filming for content, filming for memories and being present in the moment. I now usually film things i think are important in depth but dont necessarily pay too much attention to the screen, so the angles might be a bit off sometimes, but I've captured the moment AND experienced it. Things that i find beautiful eg on a nature walk, I'll stop to film a quick clip, take a few pics and spend the rest of the time gazing in awe

I love both of these couples, BUT, you simply CANNOT say that your child’s safety is your #1 priority while you are allowing predators to have free access to them online! The BEST thing you can do to protect children today is to not share them on the internet. Also, I don’t think your child should EVER be a revenue source that you depend on at ALL. IF you’re going to choose to allow your child to “work” then every penny that is earned with their content should be put back for them. I don’t think parents that share their kids are horrible people, but you do have to be honest about things AND do things as responsibly as you can.

As pertaining to filming kids, I think it’s ridiculous when creators say, “These videos will be our home videos.” The same was said by Kate Gosselin about the Gosselin kids and look at the way that turned out!! I think creators have to be very careful because they know if they don’t have their kids in their videos, their videos won’t be as popular.

So we know you know the risks of putting your children online, but you’ve justified it to yourselves so you don’t care 🙃 you should all be seriously embarrassed. Sarah literally says, “I know there’s creepers, I know there’s scary things out there… but at the same time…” you make so much money from it that it’s worth it?

These family's go to extreme to ensure their kids safety. They're completely moving because dangers were touching their lives. If you don't want to that's fine but don't judge others.

loved listening to you talk about the realities of parenting and how it throws planning out the window. From when our daughter was about 6 months old I realized if it's really important I could plan it 2-3 months ahead for things like gifts and have it go 'to plan' and otherwise it's probably not gonna happen or happen late. Kiddos just need so much and the curveballs that come with them make life so erratic.
