I get what Jake was getting at with the ‘not meddling’ bit but I think y’all should’ve specified that to be directed at online figures who you don’t know/haven’t met IRL. There is an increasingly scary epidemic of women experiencing violence in public and ZERO intervention taking place, ie the subway puncher incident a few months ago. People feel as though it’s no longer their job to intervene even if they suspect someone might be in danger and that just creates a hell of a lot of bystander effect that primarily affects women and women from marginalized demographics. I think the issue with Ballerina Farm and Nara Smith is that younger women or people who aren’t in the realm of social media and understand marketing tactics think that dropping everything to become a tradwife will look like the fabricated image they’re using to make a brand. i hope we as a society can move past choice feminism. You CAN choose to be a trad wife but that choice doesn’t exist in a vacuum and the essence of making that choice is not what feminism is about. Idk if this makes sense these are just my thoughts

@GhostsMcGeeАй бұрын
@@MaggieButtercup the commenter you're responding to is specifically referring to bystander intervention, which generally means acting on behalf of a stranger in a public place, not someone you know. What the hosts said referred to intervening in relationships of people close to you. These are two different things.

i don't think the author was wrong for writing the article. she ultimately went there to interview hannah and daniel made it incredibly difficult to do so. i absolutely agree that the public response to the abuse allegations are not appropriate at all. he could see those comments and take it out on her and the children. it's such a complex mess and she was 1 of 12 dancers accepted to Juilliard!?? she really was so capable and on-track to becoming a star like she dreamed of, that's what's even more heartbreaking edit: grammar lolz
@clandestinecoherenceАй бұрын
yeah the author didn’t say there was “pain in her eyes” and “she’s a caged bird” lol - she was just reporting on the fact that hannah only opened up when daniel was out of the room and daniel would steer the conversation and correct hannah on everything. i don’t think she implied or inferred too much
@arianamitchell7050Ай бұрын
@@clandestinecoherencenot to say the author is not completely biased. but it’s hard not to be when presented with… whatever the neelemen’s presented during that day-long interview. and if they “work equally” together like daniel says then she would be a co-owner of the farm but she is not #takehertogreecedaniel
@culturalresponse2447Ай бұрын
How is it heartbreak when she clearly loves her life, and made it clear that she does. Now all of you have projected your own issues on her and claim she’s an abuse victim because she’s not living the life YOU want her to live!

honestly I would kinda recommend the jordan & mckay video about this ballerina farm article. The journalist did specifically go there to interview the wife (which the couple knew) and the husband did as much as possible to derail her attempts
@nowthatshowwedoitАй бұрын
The main critique about the "Trad Wife" trend is the constant comparison to people who don't live like that. Most people wouldn't care if these people wanted to bake their own sourdough bread and teach their kids how to farm if it wasn't used as a superiority thing, like "I'm better than you because my husband provides enough for our family, so i don't even have to work" . (While making a lucrative career on social media).
@culturalresponse2447Ай бұрын
You’re projecting. They are not saying they are better than you by living the life they want to live. Their lifestyle IS NOT a personal attack on you. Imagine thinking the world revolves around YOU!

I totally understand what Nicole is saying. I never told anyone what was really going on with my ex. My mom knew bits and pieces but my brothers knew absolutely nothing. And if I told them it would have just made it worse but I also know I would have been convinced to leave way sooner and I wouldn’t have as much trauma as I do now.
@grace_994Ай бұрын
Did you read the article? The author only really described her experience, she didn't make statements about her husband being abusive (although, you could infer it from the description if you know the signs).

Idk ballerina farm sounds like she’s in a scary situation. Maybe that journalist was trying to shed some light on the situation. I do agree the author was kinda mean spirited lol

The journalist made up her mind before she even met them to paint their life in a negative way. The manipulation is clear. She was hired by The Times who pushes 4th wave feminism.

I mean she chose to marry the guy and live that life....its not scary lol, she's rich and living a great life. Maybe be concerned about people who actually are in need of help...instead of a trad wife by choice. She chose to give up her ballerina dreams boohoo so who cares lol
