I bought a 1987 Buick GN in 1991 with only 2,400 miles. Still had the little yellow markings on the Goodyear eagle tires. I kept rhe car dor almost 5 years and did my thing with it. Car had 7,500 miles when i sold it. Paid $14,900 for the car in 1991, sold it for $14,500 after 4-5 years, so it cost me about $100 per year to own. The weirdest thing with the GN i had was no concert sound stereo so there were no speakers in the doors. Also had a fixed mast antenna where as most were retractable.

I talked to him about 4 years ago and he still has it , the Buick still has the window sticker on the window has the plastic covers on the front seats and the plastic on the floor mats covered with cardboard , he bought the car with 4 stock steel rims & tires and he told the dealership not to mount the Buick Grand national rims & tire he kept them unmounted this whole time . He starts the car from time to time to keep it from seizing up and to prevent cylinder ring rust plus he kepted it on jack stands . I put a straight pipe in for the converter , also I put a computer chip in it and lastly I changed the the wheel on a Garrett turbo charger I believe that was all from correct . At 15 miles an hour that thing would break loose, smoke the tires and take off ! They had a GNX up on lift with a cover on it . I tried to buy that one but it wasn't for sale . It was very expensive for me at the time with the mark-up price . Just for my regular GN there was a I believe 10,000 added to the sticker price from the dealer . @CarsShopsAndCollections Only reason I bought the Grand National I bought a 1987 IROC that March of 87 and in late October some lady ran a stop sign and T Boned me totalled the car. Went shopping and Buick dealer here in NJ had new 4 left over 1987 turbo Buicks, 3 T-Types one white ,one silver and a black one and 1 Grand National, and I bought the Grand National, stays garaged, driven only the weekend and clear days!! I also own a 1966 Riviera GS with the factory dual Quad 4 bbl. All options bought on the night of Desert Storm from original owner!! Just love hot Buicks!

I guy that lived in the neighborhood I grew up in retired from GM in like 91 and had multiple cars saved in a climate controlled garage with white carpet on the floor which always seemed silly to me. One was basically identical to this. I loved his daily driver that was a tan basic looking Regal with the turbo 3.8 and several other little things I had never seen on a standard regal before. He told me once it was built specifically for him but who knows if that was true. He had a beautiful late 60s Eldorado as well that he said was his wifes car but I never saw it out of the garage in the 18 years I lived there. 😊

Yep, back then you COULD order cars to your specification, within limits. I Ordered a 1987 Buick Regal Limited with the turbo package back then. Still own it.

I've seen quite a few of these turn into an accordion. The 80s, but the 70s or bad to the bone.

Wish I hadnt sold my last muscle car. 71 Charger RT, 440 Magnum. Gold with black stripe and gills and flat black hood. Looked good, dependable and would still be getting faster when it went by the 145 on the speedometer. I bought it when the guy that had it outran me in my 69 Superbee.

a customer ordered one of those 1978 indt pace cars from the local dealer. but once the car showed up the dealer increased the cost four fold because of its collector value . anyway it went to court.and the purchaser won after several months of litigation

Average GNX sale is $175k, top of all time is $308k, that one had 568 miles on it, I imagine this is worth roughly the same

My cousin bought an 87 GN , drove it a couple of years and has been storing it up on blocks all these years. I just saw it lately and it looks great yet.

I know a guy that bought a GNX edition I believe, it was numbered between 1 and 500 and he parked it. The horse power those turbos got out of a V6 was incredible

I remember being at the Chevy Oldsmobile Buick dealership staring at a 78 regal with a funny hump on the left side of the hood.. I remember he made the claim that this six-cylinder regal will blow the doors off of any other production American car... And it was a six-cylinder... I remember looking at him with disbelief..

I had a 1987 GN,talk about getting respect from Mustang,Corvette+even old hot rodders admired the GN..when the boost kicked in be prepared to be thrown backb into the seat. Missed that car, sold it to get a ZR1 Corvette. The ZR1 somehow didn't have that Presence the GN had then+today.

I've driven that very model of car. In 1990, I was 17 and a friend of my brother lent me his GN to go run an errand for him and my brother. Sweet car. I was shocked at how fast it accelerated.
