As a complete noob, I appreciate these great videos, and you're excellent at explaining them. I would love some help, in just understanding, how I can get the triggerbox play a sound, by not being triggered by the player, but by another mesh? In my example, I have an old, wall mounted phone, two meshes, one is the receiver, one is the actual base of the phone. When in VR, player picks up the receiver, moves the receiver in the triggerbox, plays audio. Is this something you could explain for me how to do? Much appreciate it if you do... cheers.

I just recently picked up the Meta Quest 3 so your comment it great timing. I'm still getting the hang of VR in UE but hope to be making videos with it soon.

Hey... Nice explanation.. Can you put a video on how to stop a sound if we end the overlap. Like I want a sound to be played only in a area..

You should be able to call another collision function called "OnActorEndOverlap" and run it to a 'Stop" node that references the same audio file.

I have a problem where the box can be moved to the left or right as far as I want but the sound will still play and it plays twice, once about 10 meters away from the outside of the box and again when it enters the box. If I move it to the left far enough it will still play before it reaches that location on that axis but it won't play a second time because it can't overlap the box. I was trying to have it move down a spline along an assembly line.

I saw the video you recently posted on your channel and I think the best solution for your project would actually be to trigger the audio based on event rather than a collision trigger.

@@TheSoundFXGuy Yeah appreciate that, I just threw something similar together because the guy I'm doing it for is presenting it to this company today to try and sell his idea. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I'm completely baffled as to what the cause of it is but I have at least one absurd idea, strangely enough they normally end up being the cause in the end.

Hi, I need some help, so the sound and trigger box thing worked, but what if I want it to only to the sound once? Because I’m scared whenever somebody plays my game and keeps triggering the box and the audio over laps. So it would be cool if you made a video or just tell me how to do that

great tutorial. I'm new to UE5. Please excuse my ignorance on this subject. When I use trigger boxes or trigger spheres, I'm only able to get a sound wav to play instead of a sound cue. What am I missing? Why does it not work with a sound cue? thank you!

You should be able to trigger sound cues the exact same way you would a wave file. I may need to see how you've got it set up. Trying to build a level from the ground up with a friend and I'm stuck on that as well! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you

How do you add more than 1 box trigger with a different sound? if I edit one on my map it edits all of them

I'd have to see your project for more context and to see how you have it set up. It sounds like you may have something set up incorrectly because each box trigger is it's own entity. Feel free to hit me up on Discord (link to my server in video description) and I can try to help.

It will. If you use the 'Do Once' node, you can walk back through that trigger a million times and it'll never re-trigger the sound unless you restart the level.

@@issamaf80 In that case, you can put a 'Destroy Actor' node at the end of the chain in the same manner that I did on the pickup cube and use the trigger box as the reference for the destroy actors

This tutorial is amazing, but It doesn't address the issue I'm having. I wanted to set up a trigger sphere that played a loop of relaxing music while the player is colliding with it, then play a more combat-like track once the player leaves. but I can't find the node that stops the track when going to or from the sphere, so the two songs kind of just overlap each other. is there a way to STOP and audio cue upon entering or leaving a trigger sphere/box?

I understand that I could stop it on the node "OnActorEndOverlap" but I can't find the node that actually stops the loop

Pull off the "Return Value" of your audio component and type "Stop". It'll attach it's execute pin to the audio component so just disconnect it and run your "OnActorEndOverlap" node. You can then run a pin from your Stop into your next audio component for the combat music. Should look like this: blueprintue.com/blueprint/i88f9-hs/

Alternatively, you could also do something like this to make them crossfade so the switch isn't so abrupt. (replace starter music cue with calm music and replace Explosion cue with combat music) blueprintue.com/blueprint/n692xp2-/

I started trying out unreal engine maybe a week ago, and I'm struggling to find exactly what nodes you're referring to, and I can't find the ones in the example blueprint because they are either under a different name in my version or are custom made. is there a discord I could join to find someone like yourself to walk me through this?
