I saw comments under the JP version talking about why Arlecchino refers to herself as “Father” may be because she wants to separate herself from her “predecessors” who were known as “Mother”. Rather than being an abusive and controlling “mother”, she would be more akin to a watchful and guiding “father”.

@@hikari9262 It's subtle enough the CN Nuances would get lost.It's the same way that the "stranger" Pahsiv is talking about in the world quest IS Neuvillette but their are dialog puns in CN hinting to that that get 100% lost in translation. Clervie at least looks like her mother and nuance is lost a little but the bunny's at the begining (the one knealing before "mother" rabbit) and only using "mother" when Peruere/Arlecchino' is talking to Clervie are at least some context clues.

The flower that was withered was the Lumidouce Bell which, in the archives, symbolises partings and the wish for reunion. It is also the same flower on Clervie's necklace. In CN the mother daughter argument line specifically uses birth mother, so Clervie was the previous Knave's actual daughter. So "Mother" mentioning "pruning" the Lumidouce Bell before it withered is symbolically worse than initially thought. There is a cut to a sword with an orange ball after Clervie's death which might represent the unnamed blonde haired girl with the Bulle Fruit hair tie, so most likely all the other kids are dead too just like the storybook in the beginning foreshadowed.

I've put hours into the game, and there hasn't been a hint of a larger overarching story for years now, and I can't seem to connect to the characters because many of them don't have large stakes in what's already been established. It gets exhausting sometimes.

@@jaymz2385 uff buddy I don't know what you missed but there is a big overarching story and the traveller is sort of like the key that explores the story as he traverse regions. I have already said before but the world building of genshin is one of the best ways of establishing your world in a story game ,like how a particular incident in a game has multiple conflicting stories from people of different regions just like in real life . Particularly the orobashi God from the Inazuman people you get the story of an evil god but people from the watasumi islands has another story that show him as a benovelont God, I can go on but you get the gist .

Im so happy they learned they couldnt keep harbinger backstories in events and text like Scara and decided to do this. I'm also happy they only showed what we already knew, and not some loredrop related to her curse, origin etc. I want all the important stuff to be in game and only supplementary content in video form. Also i hope ppl dont say its the Honkai writers whenever something sad happens in GI. We already got confirmation that its always been the GI team handling the story for GI from a QNA done by Xiao Luohou the lead scriptwriter, and their team says Act 5 of Fontaine is their proudest story yet. Its fine if we say "its reaching Honkai levels of storywriting" but saying "the honkai writers came in and wrote it" takes away credit from this team. Its like if soemone says "u draw like *insert famous artist*" which is a compliment vs "this was definitely done by *insert famous writer*" which takes away credit. You don't know how happy I am at getting this animated/shown in general!!! It was hinted in the Inazuma world Quest that Peruere/Arlecchino killed the former Knave/Harbinger and reformed the House of the Hearth practices. It still brutal as Tsaritsa still needs her Assassin/Fatui agents that are trained there but less cruel to pit the children against one another to the death to weed out the "weak ones"... If they die it's now on missions or if one betrays the House they are killed. (Some don't return to the next "Hunt" as stated in the 4.6 teaser) Freminet was raised under the hand of the former Knave/Harbinger, if you read his unit story/voicelines it shows things are done at his early age. Lyney and Lynnette where brought in after Peruere/Arlecchino took over the House and at first he was confused by their nature and the change of operations. This shows that the House of the Hearth was Moved into Fontaine City after this as well, so that Children knows what life is instead of being isolated in the "mountains" for their training. (I'm not sure 100% where the old House of the Hearth is... it might be in the current mountains but it might also be the island we are going to as the older building where used after the fall of Remuria all over Fontaine but different groups including the House of the Hearth.) Their Current Fatui NPC stories that talking about how he because a Fatui instead of his sister as they both grew up in the House of the Hearth. And the sister can live a normal life as an actor/singer due to his service. EDIT: I just released something.... You see a Bulle Friut (orange) hair orniment hanging off a sword after Clervie died. It implied that Peruere/Arlecchino had also killed her blonde twintail friend that had it in her hair growing up. 😭 Clervie has a Lumidouce Bell necklace and it's the plant the "Mother" called grotesque.

A question I now ponder is what happened to make Crucabena so obsessed with being the most powerful and being the "king". Plus there's also her statement about innocence and kindness which makes me think something happened to turn her the way she is, maybe that's just me reading into it too much but it really seemed like she genuinely wanted to "crown a king" among her "children". It is also a matter of her being a harbinger, so I'm guessing she must have become disillusioned with the system of the seven or at least with an integral part of the system of the rest of Teyvat if the Tsaritsa recruited her. okay since no one is talking about the relationship this may have with columbina i will in mythology factors , a mourning dove (columbinas constalation) is known that doves provide comfort because they help people remember their loved ones are watching over them. in this case columbina would be reassuring alrecchino about cerise. because the greek mythology stageplay arlecchino and columbina are based of on. “The birds soft cooing song” is also what a dove is said to do when comforting the “friend” who is mourning over loss. who sings? columbina. and there is a slight humming and singing in the trailer too. My opinion on Arlecchino has been fairly neutral this entire time, but this short made her jump up a couple of tiers. Some things I’ve been curious about(like why she refers to herself as ‘Father’ instead of ‘Mother’) make a bit more sense now. I don’t play Genshin anymore, but I’d probably end up pulling for her if I did after this.

This is just me speculating but, The Tsaritsa said this legacy (title of 'Knave') is one of bloodshed, implying that Harbingers of the orphanage killed the previous one (or "King"). Arlecchino wants Lyney to succeed her and Lyney is horrified by this idea. Arlecchino wants Lyney to KILL her. And what's the best way to get to him and MAKE him have no choice but to do so? Threaten Lynette and Freminet (and to an extent The Traveler). This story quest is going to be brutal, I can already tell. Even if no one dies, Arle, the Lyney siblings, and Traveler will not look at one another the same after this. But man, the short itself felt more like 2 minutes than seven. Bravo Hoyoverse!
