What blows my mind is his ability to casually dole out riffs one after the other, that could easily be a theme to a whole separate song. In a very grand yet subtle way, it's as though all of his playing is one huge song, grasping to exceed it's reach and reveal to us the wonderfully infinite & mysterious world that music hides so well. Thank you Shawn. May your spirit soar free & high, as we do on the wings of your music.

Very true!! Shawn has said before that a lot of his songs are comprised of short musical ideas/riffs that are combined into one piece. Not only that, Shawn was a great improviser. Look no other than the things he did with Hellborg/Sipe, with 10+ minutes of complete improv with developing riffs/ideas that compliment each other. I haven't even mentioned the stuff he also composed on piano. Shawn was a complete genius

I've always felt that way about Beethoven's music, that it just goes on and on and he occasionally wrote endings for the regular humans that listened to his creations. I feel Bach's music is similar. Shawn Lane's music too.

I agree with all of you here. Sounds like a bunch of really passionate guitar players on this comment string. It's definitely not a sport or whatever. And none of us killers would ever even think about having the conversation around anyone who's in the first several stages of playing. But what gets me about Shawn Lane is he seemed to encompass virtually every vibe at will. Seamlessly. I never got to see or meet him, but a couple friends who are insane players in their own right, hung out with him, and said he was as sweet and soft spoken as he seems. Just such a special human. In my opinion of course.

As far as I am concerned, Shawn is The Master. It's a shame that he couldn't have still been here amazing us further. He was great guy with a humble and gracious character. I did get to see him play in Hollywood at the Starwood when he was just 14. I will never forget that night. My friends and I couldn't believe what we were hearing.

Words can never do justice. He was "THE CHANNEL" through which the GUITAR could find PERFECT, UNLIMITED EXPRESSION. Every so often, ONE is sent amongst us - Shawn Lane was IT. Then you watch him mesmerize on KEYS, he was OVERLOADED with PURE TALENT. That responsibility took its toll, sooo much to carry on his shoulders. An enduring TREASURE and irreplaceable LOSS. Can never get enough of his musical genius and technical prowess.... There could Only be one SHAWN LANE..... ever - Numero Uno!

Get you back is one of the hardest compositions on guitar, and Shawn has multiple alternate versions of it and never played the same thing live, evertime he played he added something new, atleast on the videos and audios I have heard and it is the same story with most of his tracks, a testament to the genius of this man

Yeah, that's true. It's just astonishing how many iterations of some tracks there are, e.g., Not Again has a lot of demos/alternate takes as well as live versions obviously with the drum and guitar solo, all different and distinctly unique. It just goes to show Shawn's genius

@fremontvids
@fremontvids 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Wesley are you the producer for Mr Lane? Is it only Mr Lane who plays, or do you play also? I don't know if you've been watching any Fremont videos, I was reviewing them all last night my 5 or 10 most recent posts. .. for filming outside I need a different setup, and so I'm looking into a using the smartphone for the audio and a mini camcorder for the video. There's definitely a lot you can do now with the technology to bypass the big expensive studio productions.. I know a lot about it for sure, since believe it or not in the studio the professors are still using mono for the vocals, I was shocked I was flabbergasted mono, what era are you living in 25 frames per second it was really sad. So I quit filming video, now I do business and I'm much better at it and no doubt I will get my associates in applied science. Somehow I just wanted to touch base with you and you know provide encouragement cuz some of the stuff is really excellent it just needs you know some more structure some some more some more band and I'm sure some of the stuff could be a very fine album. But yes in my very early years when I did not know anything about music at all except for the lessons that I was taking, I had access to studio and so my friends and I we call ourselves a band but we were just you know tinkering my friends and I you know really enjoyed the studio environment like you have no idea. But I guess my dream has always been to be a music producer.. or rather a record producer that's it yeah that's it A RECORD PRODUCER!! Ha nailed it! I guess for a record you need lyrics, and I've tried and I 100% failed on that, because I'm not a native English speaker, I speak in a right English perfectly, but it's not the same thing as writing lyrics. But this day and age, live video is really you know in demand, just like the Black eyed peas lyrics, I got that HD flat!! ( Flat screen) If you ever do start on the video path remember that MP4 is not the same thing as mp3, when you migrate an mp4 to KZbin it gets separated and now you do have two different animals but the video that you get on your on your phone or on a chip that's one complete thing MP4 it's a tautology. Typed using Motorola voice recognition

Hi man, I'm not the producer for Shawn haha, I'm 17 so that's way out of my age range unfortunately. I only take a large amount of inspiration from Shawn for my playing and composing music. This video is all (allegedly) Shawn, with rough takes and demos of his works that have been released on PoT and Tritone Fascination. I appreciate your kind words though, not sure if you're commenting about this video or some of my own stuff, but regardless thank you. I do work in studios time to time and sort of have a grasp on the environment and such. But yeah, not sure really, I do work with a band but it isn't the same as my solo projects, so I'm tackling a bit more mainstream music in conparison to fusion instrumentals. But yeah, I appreciate the words though man, thank you

So had to break out the profex 2 and push it through another amp and was using another pedal adaptive distortion setting to unity and trying to just boost not color the settings which If I could ever find with permission id be able to try to sound like that. Of course its Shawns hands and muscle memory but its there very fast and consistent . now it has to be fed into PA front of house as well axe 2 and now 3 in order to record the dry stem tracks into axe 3. Ive been chasing tones for 30+ years and of late the Dumble line and whats wild is of the two settings Shawn had shadowed eq wise one of them the darker or 4 band vs just 3 band happens to sound ALOT like a Dumble only its not it was the holmes rig with westbury 20 or some other goodies so when I was comparing I found its very close to ODS Dumble lead tone straight in no pedals on the Dumble where as with the 2nd voicing for Shawn he would add pedals to send it into peace in Mississippi land. The woolier of the lead sounds. Im curious if that might have been for single coils because its so dark already where as the 3 band setting is brighter and more BARK then Woof. When I spoke to Diane initially I asked her if they had the patch settings and she said no nor did she know who did them for Shawn when they designed his pro fex 2 with his specific sound. To which I said im going to find out and she said I believe you will and when you do have them contact me which I did they did not give me anything settings wise as its artist relations and they didnt disclose but to Diane they did and she asked that I be allowed to work with them and for them to be sealed private which they are. I programmed Shawns Niece one and built and voiced a Burgundy Mist Strat for her which I built. Diane was sent the preamp fully loaded and I went through and made every patch I could by ear to each song even sweet home alabama.. Playing it this afternoon is blowing my wig because its so responsive and instantly I was shredding the lines were blazing out of me because it is so fast in tracking.. If you put a westbury before it OMF there it is especially with the right tubes USE YOUR EARS but since its solid state things like adaptive distortion or heavy metal pedal which I would never in a million years would think would sound at all good does. any guitar ive ever put through it even the worst guitars my friends have sounded amazing through the preamp which explains why any guitar Shawn played through it sounded like the best one you ever heard that and of course its him and always will be just him. That said A man has to try.. My next step is inputting this into Axe 3 straight in dry on 3 band and 4 band and saving both patches as SL 1 SL 2 Forever into AXE 3 When I do those syx files will be sent to Diane to do as she wishes with them. But I feel Shawn would want them to b e heard and played and enjoyed and loved and so id be encouraging of that to Diane and Family but its always their choice not mine. I vowed to not share them with anyone directly too Diane and honor that to date. I KNOW SHAWN WOULD HAVE TRIED AT LEAST THE AXE FX LINE AND IF HE WERE HERE IN PHYSICAL FORM VS SPIRIT THEN THIS WOULD BE THE PATH HE CHOSE BECAUSE OF THE CONSISTENCY IN TONE EVERYTIME ITS TURNED ON. SO AS A PLAYER IM CERTAIN NO QUESTION WHERE SHAWN WOULD BE THOUGHT WISE ON THAT HE WOULD HAVE MASTERED BOTH AXE 2 AND 3 ALREADY BY NOW FOR BOTH GUITAR AND KEYS NO QUESTION AND IT WOULD BE THE LIBRARY OF TONE. SO WHAT YOU THOUGHT ID GIVE UP AND QUIT OR STOP ? THINK AGAIN IM PLAYING IT THIS AFTERNOON IF I CAN GO DIRECT TO PA AND I CAN WITH ALL 3 PREAMPS THEN IN FACT I CAN RECORD FROM EITHER 3 DRY THEN FEED THE STEM TRACKS DIRECTLY INTO AXE 3 AND SHADOW THEM BOTH TO SO CLOSE HUMAN EARS CANT TELL. WHICH IS WHAT WE AS FREAKS DEMAND WE DONT WANT IT TO KINDA SOUND LIKE IT WE WANT OMF THERE IT IS THEN TO BURST INTO TEARS BECAUSE WE CAN ENJOY IT AGAIN. I THINK SHAWN WOULD HAVE BEEN SHARING PATCHES WITH AXE FX FOR HIS FANS BUT DIANE MAKES THAT CALL. BUT TODAY RIGHT NOW IM PLAYING THROUGH IT MY PA IS HERE SO IM GOING TO START GOOFING WITH THAT GET THAT GOING TESTED AGAIN THEN PATCH PRO FEX 2 AXE FX 2 AND AXE FX 3 ALL INTO SAME MIXER FRONT OF HOUSE. THEN WE WANT NO EFX AT ALL JUST AMP AND CAB AND SPEAKER AND DRY RECORDINGS OF EACH. 3B 4B AND EVERY TUBE AMP I OWN DUMBLE ORIGINAL AND DUMBLE 1:1 CLONE BUILT OFF ORIGINALS INCLUDING THE BIGBOY STEEL STRING SINGER 150 WATT AMP WITH DIFFERENT TRANSFORMERS THEN ODS AMPS HAD AND 6550 OR MY FAVORITE KT88 FOR THAT AMP ALL OF THE AMPS MUST BE RECORDED DRY AS IS FED INTO AXE 3 THEN ITS ON LIKE DONKEY KONG. BECAUSE YOU CAN CHERRY PICK EVERY AMP AND GO THROUGH AND PAIR THEM MAKE A LIST PAIR EVERY ONE UP TO HEAR HOW THEY ACT TOGETHER AND SOUND MAKE NOTES SAY EH EH OR OMF KEEPER AND YOU SAVE THE CHERRIES. STACKING THEM ALL UP TO HAVE THEM ALL AND YOUR CAKE ALSO BECAUSE WE DEMAND THE BEST AND WILL ACCEPT NOTHING SHORT AS OBSESSIVE TONE JUNKIES. DO I HAVE A WITNESS ? CANT FKG HEAR YOU IF ANYONE THINKS THIS MIGHT BE A BRILLIANT IDEA AND WOULD LIKE TO VOTE THE THUMBS UP HERE MAYBE WHEN IM DONE I SEND THEM TO DIANE AND SHE CAN OFFER THE SYX PATCHES FOR DOWNLOAD AND SELL THEM DIRECT AS A BUNDLE PACK OR SOMETHING. FOR THOSE WHO MIGHT HAVE AXE FX AND WISH TO BUY THEM DIRECTLY FROM THE FAMILY THATS UP TO HER OF COURSE ALWAYS BUT IM CLEARLY HER HUCKLEBERRY IF SHE SO DEEMS IT... I DID MY HOMEWORK RELAX ITS VERY MUCH ALIVE AND UNMISTAKEABLE WHEN THE TSUNAMI OF SOUND HITS YOU AND FOR SOME REASON YOU CAN JUST BLAZE AT SPEEDS NOT EXPECTED THAT YOU CAN EVEN PLAY THEY JUST BLOW OUT OF YOU. LETS VOTE SHALL WE WHO WOULD CARE TO SEE SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPEN ? THUMBS UP START WRITING TO DIANE HERE AS TO HOW YOU WOULD ASK HER TO PLEASE CONSIDER IT I ALREADY STARTED AND ITS SITTING BESIDE ME OF COURSE. IT TOOK ME 30 YEARS TO TRACK EJS SSS DUMBLE 005 VOICINGS DOWN AND SRVS WHICH ALLOWED ME TO MAKE THE ENTIRE DUMBLE LINE FLAGSHIP AMPS IN AXE 2 AND 3 ALSO ALL OF THEM. AXE FX DOES NOT OFFER THE ENTIRE LINE BECAUSE NOBODY IS GONNA GIVE UP A MILLION DOLLAR AMP TO TAKE APART BUT ITS NOT NEEDED IVE GOT THE SCHEMATICS FROM THE MEN WHO FIXED SRVS AMPS AND I MYSELF WAS IN ERICS WHEN IT BURNED UP AND HAD TO BE SENT BACK AND NEVER EVER SOUNDED THE SAME. SO SINCE AXE 3 CAN RECORD AND SHADOW AND MATCH STEM TRACKS THEN ALL OF SHAWNS CATALOGUE AS WELL ERIC JOHNSONS COULD BE LOADED INTO AXE AND EVERY AMP THEY EVER OWNED OR GOT RID OF AT ITS PEAK SOUND WOULD BE AT ONES FEET . EVERY MARSHALL EVERY FENDER VOX DUMBLE WHAT EVER AND EVERY EFX AND SPEAKER PLUS CAB COMBINATION ALSO WHICH IS THERE FOR ME TO DO IF ERIC WOULD LET ME FURTHERMORE SHAWNS COULD BE DONE WITH PERMISSION FROM DIANE OF COURSE AND SAVED FOREVER ALSO. SO THE BEST MUSICIANS IN THE WORLD THAT COULD EVEN PLAY IT OR GET CLOSE TO PLAYING IT COULD PAY TRIBUTE THROUGH THE SAME RIGS.
