I GREW UP LOVING HIS VOICE, AND I GOT TO SEE HIM WHEN I WAS ABOUT 43/2-4 AT THE MS/AL STATE FAIR WHEN MY MOM TOOK ME THERE. I LOVED HIS VOICE BEFORE THAT, BUT I FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM AND HIS AMAZING VOICE THAT DAY. IN THE LATE '70"S INTO THE 1980'S I BELONGED TO THE BEST EP FAN IN THE WORLD. SOME OF THE MEMBERS WERE VERY CLOSE TO ELVIS, MS. ALVINA ROY, AND MS. MARY JENKINS, 2 OF HIS HOUSE KEEPERS AND COOKS, AND JOE ESPEDITO AND A FEW MORE, BUT THEY DIDN'T ALWAYS ATTEND OUR MEETINGS. WE PLAYED EP GAMES AND THEY GAVE THE WINNERS A PRIZE OF EVERYTHING ELVIS. I ALREADY HAD A LOAD OF EP STUFF THAT I HAD COLLECTED DURING MY LIFE, BUT THE THINGS I WON PLAYING THE CLUB GAMES WERE MOSTLY SOMETHING THAT HAD BELONGED TO ELVIS. IT LASTED FOR ABOUT 2 YRS BCUZ MOST OF US WORKED FULL TIME AND HAD SMALL KIDS, WHICH WE GOT TO TAKE THEM TO THE MEETINGS WITH US. MOST OF US HAD FULL TIME, AND OUR SCHEDULES WERE DIFFERENT, SO IT WASN'T EASY TO GO TO ALL OF THE MEETINGS, SO AFTER ABOUT 1 2/2 YRS WE DECIDED TO RETIRE OUR CLUB. BUT GOOD GRIEF TALK ABOUT FUN, AND BEING ABLE TO DO THAT WAS THE BEST THING THAT I EVER GOT TO DO BESIDES GOING TO ELVIS IN PERSON 2 TIMES, AND OUR CLUB FOR AS LONG AS I DID, BUT I STILL HAVE EVERYTHING THAT I WON, AND ABOUT A THOUSAND MORE EP THINGS I WAS GIVEN, OR BOUGHT MYSELF DURING ALL THOSE YEARS. WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THE EP EXPERIENCE? Did you know that when Jackie Wilson became ill, he couldn't pay his hospital bills and didn't have money to pay for his care. Elvis found out, paid his medical bills and paid for his care the rest of Jackie's life, even after Elvis himself had died. Elvis made that arrangement in his Will. Jackie lived until 1984 so Elvis' estate cared for Jackie all those years. They were good friends. You can be as racist against Elvis all you want but, Jackie and James Brown both thought a lot of Elvis and he them.
