It's always frustrating when an eBay purchase doesn't measure up, but to be honest you have to be just as careful on Amazon or other sales sites especially with 3rd party sellers ! Great hammer project, time flys when you're on the lathe !

That Simplified Electrical Wiring book from Sears looks like a gem--will keep my eyes peeled for a copy. The cool Italian miniature hammer gave me a laugh--wasn't expecting that either. Very nice work with the homemade hammer, I really liked how customizable you made it. I think the knurled handle with the small red end was my favorite--but they all were pretty sharp--Nice job Scoutcrafter!

I like those DIY manuals. They remind me that I learned so much from Popular Mechanics and Popular Science magazines back in the day. Your homemade hammer is so much nicer than what I saw recently at my local hardware store. It was a Stanley no-mar hammer with plastic heads and wooden handle. Cost was $17. Foreign manufacture. Easter blessings to all.

Always loved working with wiring. I tried to get an apprenticeship with the IBEW, but wasn’t selected. That is one cool looking hammer. There was a hardware store in our neighborhood that had a sign that was a big hammer hanging out front. It was a local landmark of sorts.

Hi Scoutcrafter that is a cool little hammer. The handmade hammer is really nice. The problem that we have in Canada is they get you on the shipping for an item like that you see it and the price you are willing to pay then they add $30. or more for shipping it makes it overpriced.

Great presentation sir. The book I used to help me through my home projects was the Reader's Digest Complete Do It Yourself Manual. I noticed that another manual you had was the Improvised Munitions Handbook. Is that book similar to the Anarchist Cookbook? I also like the work you did on the Italian hammer. It reminded me of all the hard word you did on the SAFE-T-GRIP Hammer Restoration. Wishing you a great Easter.

I love those old books. My mom picked up a set of handyman encyclopedias at a garage sale when I was a kid. This was around 1985 and they were published in 1961 I think. I loved looking through those. Wish I still had them, but the basement flooded. I absolutely love that hammer. I have a little homemade hammer I got a garage sale or something, but nothing like yours. That is a work of art! Happy Easter.

If that hammer kit were available in a catalog, or online, it would already be in my cart. Just beautiful! Those diy manuals came in very handy, and they weren’t always for electrical work or Sears-Roebuck. Audel’s had a manual to fix just about anything, auto repair, plumbing, carpentry, if something was being manufactured or built they had a manual for it. Folks liked to fix their own stuff, and its good to see the actions for “rights to repair” now ongoing.

3:53 Our version here in Europe of the Chilton's manual is the Haynes manual. I learned all of my car mechanic skills reading those manuals when I was a kid. And to this day, I still service my car thanks to those manuals. Modern cars are too complicated, but if you gave an older car like I do, get a DIY service manual and service your own car. It's such a great feeling and you'll save money too. It's a win-win. Great video btw, Mr. Crafter.

John, What kind of maniac makes a hammer with only two faces?...Not you!...lol I think someone should start a help group called H.A. (Hammers Anonymous) for those individuals that have WAY too many hammers. I have been hitting local estate sales a few times a month lately and almost always find one or two. Today was no different. I got out of work early and went to part two of an estate sale near here. The house belonged to one of the people that died last year going down to the Titanic. I found 2 small Stanley claw hammers maybe 8oz. each? The fella running the sales laughed because I came up from the basement with them knowing that I would find them. The guys I work with almost get upset Monday if I don't have at least one hammer. Last month I found a Handy Andy claw hammer, but one claw was broken. The handle is in good shape though. Happy Easter, Everyone, George
