It's OWA wrapped in Edge Webview2. I hate it as a desktop "client". If I want to use OWA, I'll open it in my browser. I want a real client that has all the features that the current desktop client has. I sure hope MS doesn't force this on us.

When I first turned on "Try the new Outlook" I swear it actually just opened in Edge. I closed it and reopened it, and it opened in a webview2 window (even indicates that in the task manager).

But it is missing rules, quick steps, VBA (or some type of macros), search folders and add-ins?? until they get close to these it cannot replace current outlook desktop

These features are interesting, but whether they're helpful depends on how you work. For instance in the old Outlook interface you can just drag and drop an email on the Calendar icon (navigation bar) to create a new event. I use this regularly and the new interface doesn't support it, so that's a deal-breaker for me.

Hello. I switched off the New Outlook toggle because not having a unified email inbox is really bugging me. I wrote that in the feedback form and see a message from Outlook that the new Outlook currently doesn't support seeing mail from separate accounts in a single inbox but they're planning on supporting this feature in a future update. I'll try this app again in the future. Thanks for the video.

Outlook had a unified email inbox 15 years ago, then MS removed it. Ever since, they've promised to bring it back and never have. I don't know why. If they can do it in the toy Windows Mail program, why not Outlook? Beats me. That's why I'm skipping the "new" Outlook.

I think they should just integrate “To Do’ and “Task” with the Calendar. I like to look at my calendar for meetings, as well as things to do for the day without clicking another tab. I also like to drag and drop an item like iCal.

Thank you for showing the idea that you can pin a category. I use categories extensively. By the way I struggled with the idea of trying to find a professional use case for using Microsoft boards and that completely changed after watching your video that showed that details on a board that have a due date can automatically be populated into Microsoft to-do application. I literally had to stop and think about it before re-watching your video to make sure that I was seeing what you were showing. Then I watched the video that described that LOOP task lists could auto-populate to both Microsoft planner and as well as Microsoft to do. At that point I thought to myself this is a complete game-changer. The deal Breaker regarding using Microsoft planner is that we require at my company that a planner be associated with an existing Security Group. That completely destroys the idea of being able to use planner as a personal productivity tool.

n the old Outlook, in the calendar pane, when the current time exceeded the end time of a meeting, the meeting disappeared from view. However in the new Outlook, the entire day's meetings remain in view all day. When it is 3pm, I don't want to see meetings that happened at 9am that morning - I just want to see what I have remaining today and other future meetings. Do you know how I can arrange that? Thanks!

Tried this very morning and so far, ran away ... thanks for this video, I like the feature of pinning the mail, the rest of what is new seems, uhhh, useless to me (my way of working, as somebody down pointed out correctly). I wonder if we ever get the feature of being able to move an email to a folder by selecting the icon, where we have the last 10 used folders and just writing the name of the folder, narrowing down the list of matching folders and moving like that. I believe the mobile version on cellphone does have it, why not the desktop? that would be a game changer for me ...

I'm an intense keyboarder - my accuracy with a mouse (or lack thereof) slows me down and it was so easy to hit the alt key and pull up my menu (knew the recipes to the features I used) - now it's complicated hot keys that I get to learn all over again. I think MS really missed the mark when considering how their users were using the app and how challenging it would be to learn what replaced the original design. A straightforward tutorial on this vs. that would have been great and as of right now I can't find anything like it This video is almost 2 months old - still nothing to support transitioning users.

Blah blah blah, whatever dude. The fact is when you migrate from old to new Outlook, the following do not get migrated when you try to upgrade IMAP mail accounts to the new Outlook: contacts, calendar, mail account settings (yes you have to start from scratch as if you're adding a new account), inbox folders, inbox rules to mention just few little things. How or why any user, especially business users, would want to put themselves through so much disruption and manual data capture just for some new features is a question for the Microsoft nerds who think this is soooo cool. Zero out of 10.

Terrible. It was fine as it is. They're making existing things worse in favor of adding new stuff that I'm not asking for and don't want. More wasted space on the left which is taking space away from messages when it was just fine keeping those mail/calendar/contact buttons horizontal at the bottom of the list on the left. On top of that, much needed title bar space required to click/drag is being taken away requiring them to force you to click multiple times before you can activate the app as a whole (this is already an issue and extremely annoying). This just scratches the surface; when they're rebuilding the interface, they have to *rebuild* features that are now missing that people were using (e.g. others are mentioning search folders). Seriously.

You might have a slider toggle in the top right corner that says "Try the new Outlook" - that's it. :) It's hit and miss, though - I had it, and a couple other people in my office never saw it, despite us all being on the same current version of the desktop client.
