For an animated movie, that opening was absolutely brutal. It's so beautiful, but at the same time it tears you apart.

This is the only animation movie that brought me to uncontrollable tears.... actual weeping. I lost my first wife of 23 years to cancer in 1990. She was 43 years old. One of the last things she said to me was, "I regret that we won't grow old together." Up really got to me.😢❤

Back in the not too distant past when Disney knew how to make a movie, Cars really surprised me with a wonderful story and great animation by Pixar. Also, for a good time Western, check out Owen Wilson and Jackie Chan in Shanghai Noon. And the sequel Shanghai Knights.

OMG, the best reaction yet, absolutely Stoatin and just pure magic; Thank you Emma, watching this film with your completely heartfelt, Laldy and genuine asides was just pure quality; The little aside/quip by Emma as she watched the little bit about the aches and pains we feel as we get older struck a cord; Anyway back to the start and Carl and his wife Ellie from when they first met, fell in love, married and grew old together tugged at the heartstrings; Then dealing with loss and loneliness and change; As the World changed around him Carl decided to fulfill the dream he had shared with his Wife and thus set of on a spirit of adventure; Emma gave a just pitch perfect Full Bhoona as two disparate lonely souls found friendship and kinship; A nice comical story of bonding as they saved an endangered Bird, and overcame a respected adventurer/scientist who turned out to have feet of clay; All in all, just a delightful story, made better by Emma's Stoating telling of it; Another good animated film that I think also stirs some emotions was Watership Down, which also had a terrific theme tune by Art Garfunkel; Bright Eyes, though it is in parts quite dark and violent; Now age restricted, but back in the 70's they didn't tend to worry about that sort of thing. Sorry Emma, this revue has become far to verbose, I must become less wordy before I send you round the bend. 🥰😍💘💝👍👏✌🤟🙆♂.

Thanks for this reaction Emma. My favorite character is Dug the dog. I have just met you, and I LUFF you! 🐕🥰 I saw this film in theaters with my fiancee when it first came out, and we both enjoyed it. I lost her to suicide a few years later after we lost a daughter to miscarriage. I watched it again after her death and couldn't get past the opening scene without spiraling into sadness and tears, and turned it off. It hit too close to home and was a traumatic experience that felt too much like my own life. I tried again repeatedly to watch it over the years, and could never get past the opening scene. I finally watched Up from beginning to end last Christmas. The tears still flowed, as they did again today, but at least I can finally see the beauty in it. There are so many wonderful moments in this film to make one smile between the tears. It is truly a masterpiece of storytelling.

Karl sends Russell on a "snipe hunt", which is a hunt for a fake bird called a "snipe" meant to get rid of somebody and waste their time. It is a type of "wild goose chase" or hopeless quest. The point is to get rid of the person being pranked. The joke is that the bird, Kevin, actually exists. It's a big part of the plot of the movie but non-English natives may not get this detail.
@regularsizeruss3874Ай бұрын

You mentioned the soundtrack. Pixar really wove some magic with the music, conveying different emotions with different arrangements. They use it to connect you to Ellie in the 40:45 beginning, and traumatize you by showing their life struggles and taking her away suddenly. By the end, they can play the Ellie theme softly and slowly, make you cry before you even realize what you're crying about. Powerful.

If you don't know, snipes aren't real. People send kids on a "snipe hunt" to make them go waste time doing something impossible.
@onepcwhiz6847Ай бұрын
Pixar lost me on this one. There was no way I was going to let my kid see this movie.
@meanmax9663Ай бұрын
I don't understand why. Kids respond very positively to stories that include many of the same aspects of real life, and that includes tragedy, such as illness or death. By shielding our kids from what really happens in life, we're preparing for them to fail when these times actually occur. My kids have all grown up on the farm, with animals/livestock of all kinds. They've experienced the joy of nursing a sick animal back to health, and experienced the pain of losing the ones that didn't make it. Also, the responsibilities normal care and feeding of the animals we have had. All of this has prepared them for dealing with the death of loved ones, such as with their grandparents, while understanding the significant importance of the babies being brought into our family. Kids can't grow up in a fantasy land where there's no pain, suffering or consequences, and then magically know how to act when they reach the age of adulthood. I think this animated movie is a wonderful learning experience for children to one day become well-adjusted adults. But, that's just my comment and opinion, and anyone who thinks differently is entitled to their own opinion as well. Cheers.
@onepcwhiz6847Ай бұрын
@@meanmax9663 I understand. My son is now 25 but at the time he couldn't have handled that. I just thinks Pixar PG movies shouldn't deal with death.
