I was a B-52 crew chief at Barksdale AFB from 85-89. Brings back memories.

Matt, As always you've done a superb job. 2 cameras and managing to film through the fence. I wish I lived closer and could have been there.👍 Steve.

I saw a B-29 that was used as a museum piece and thought it was awesome. I would actually plan a trip around seeing a B-52.

Blimey that's a lot of smoke even for them!

If you want to see smoke from a jet, look up footage on KZbin of America's 1950s B-47 Stratojet bomber (the B-52's predecessor). That thing not only had smoky engines, but used rocket-assisted takeoff in many cases! Probably one of the most dangerous planes the USAF ever operated, and it's no wonder they made the switch to the much better B-52 as soon as possible.

When Concorde (002) was based at Fairford in the 1970's it earned itself the nickname of "Smokey Joe" as it used to push out almost as much smoke as a B52!!..😂😂.....

Was the B52's fuel mixed with oil for lubricant reasons, hence the heavy black smoke, or was there a another reason, would love for someone to help me on this.☘️
