I reckon Mr Firth tries it on with people he thinks he can dominate assuming they have not the information to refute him so he tries mis translations like this to get one over on them. I have only a small understanding of Biblical Hebew yet I can detect and refute his mis translation easily.

My abiding impression of Mr Firth’s interactions is that he is determined to be right and to prove others wrong. But a minister or priest should show humility and respect even if he has not received it. How we interact is at least as important as what we interact with. I’m not a Hebrew scholar but I did bother to look up around 30 translations of Deut 23-17. None of them (including 2 Jewish ones) had anything close to ‘Holy boys’. The majority use sodomite or (male prostitute. Strong’s Lexicon has this: קָדֵשׁ qâdêsh, kaw-dashe'; from H6942; a (quasi) sacred person, i.e. (technically) a (male) devotee (by prostitution) to licentious idolatry: sodomite, The word is found 11 times in the OT and nowhere has it been translated as anything close to ‘holy boys’. So, a euphemism it may be but, in professional translations, somewhat wide of the mark. The ‘correct’ translation is but a small matter compared to issues of integrity, right action, humility and the truth.

Thank you Richard for bringing this clarification. It comports with my own work. Also, there are two PhDs, Profs of Hebrew, who agree with us and repudiate Firth's shallowness. "Holy Boys" is not a translation for "Sodomites." You'd think he'd listen and learn, but we are seeing what he's like.

Aside from the translation issues the lack of humility, the pathological lying, cursing out people by a bishops wife, having your wife partying with and promoting male strippers, destroying the lives of people who disagree with you without any remorse, etc , etc , all among the leadership of FCE. Sickening. And Firth fights for this? Enough said IMO.
