I agree with your opinions in this, but I want to add 1 thing: therapy is often needed to help people overcome these ingrained unhealthy ideas about health. It helped me so much. Sometimes we need help to get healthy - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.

Great video Suzie. Exercise is an essential component of a healthy life...plenty of research to support the importance of exercise and movement in our lives. At 73 yrs of age, unable to lose weight, reverse Fatty Liver, get my Hgb A1C and triglycerides into normal range, and a host of other medical issues, I was feeling defeated because seemingly nothing was working, my fitness and balance were absent...I needed something that worked. I started out doing keto and knew it was not sustainable for me to eat that way. A friend asked me if I heard of fasting. I hadn't but I researched it for about 2-3 wks and decided it was worth trying. That was 2.5 yrs ago. My focus, like you, was on being healthy. I wanted to enjoy my grandson and be as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Intermittent and extended fasting along with a healthy whole food low carb approach to eating has turned my life around. I dropped 55 lbs, I am no longer pre-diabetic, my Fatty liver reversed, as evidenced by 2 normal Ultrasound tests, all my lab values are within normal limits. I am able to exercise again. I practice hot yoga 2-4 times a week and follow a few You Tube exercise videos. I wanted to share this because fasting does offer tremendous health benefits when done properly and someone might benefit from it. It is actually a very sustainable way of life. It was not a straight line to better health, cause....I am a human! It is the answer to reversing Type 2 Diabetes and Fatty Liver Disease and PCOS and it's free!! The food, medical, and drug industries have a vested interest in keeping us in unhealthy, obese states. We have to fight the powers that be to discover how to achieve and maintain our optimal health. I hope someone will be helped by looking into The Fasting Method by Dr. Jason Fung and Megan Ramos. This is the approach I have chosen that works for me. When I was about to give up looking for the answer, I found the solution that improved my life and actually reversed disease.

Amen, agreed 👍 preach!! I'm practicing a 30 yoga daily and walking about a 30 minutes per day and making great food choices and have had success in my overall mood, attitude, movement and consciousness and yes second came the weight loss. So I hear u loud and clear. Thanks for expressing these ideas bc I feel them too. I've been overweight all my life and for the first time in my life at age 53 I finally can say I'm okay and I feel good with who I am and how I feel. Again thank u , love the rants, I am guilty of them too in my circle, 😆

I agree with you totally and know I need to do better. You can be thin and unhealthy, so true. My doctor recently told me that at 62 I have the labs of a 20-something, but honestly my labs were better back then. I went on a very brisk hike with friends for the first time recently and my legs hurt for days. I do vigorous yard work regularly and love being outside while I do it, but it isn't enough. I eat lots of fruit and vegetables and eat beef rarely, but I eat chocolate pretty regularly. I want to be the woman who at 62 is more fit than I have ever been, an older version of you. You are inspiring.

YAY! Yes! Absolutely! Promote a healthy body not a thin one. My nutrition is not sexy to anyone (Whole Food Plant Based) but it made me the healthiest I've ever been. I have tons of energy to work out and play with my kids. I have a fit and thin body but that's secondary to the fact that I FEEL awesome!

Love this video. You def didn’t look frumpy with the baby. Your lifestyle changes have inspired me bc they sound normal and attainable. I checked out Anna’s KZbin and you’re right- the workouts look awesome and there’s something for everyone. Just picked up some new weights. I used to work out in 2012 and my trainer was very strict with exercise and food and it discouraged along with how expensive it was. Your day of eating is just normal and not excessive protein shakes and not no carbs. It’s great to see. Thanks for posting.

I lost thirty pounds exactly like you did, except I do intermittent fasting because I feel it helped problems with two inflammatory diseases that I have. I do 16 8 and most of that time I’m sleeping. I have a drink or two a week and I do whatever excessive I feel like that day, yoga , Pilates , Hitt etc. I’m convinced it’s the way to go, look at people in Europe , they don’t give up baked goods. Life is too short, eat great food.

Hi Susie- I've missed watching you! I zipped through far too many of your videos this morning and have to get off this laptop. Am I crazy or did you recommend a protein bar somewhere? I can't find it! I'd also like to know what the flax seed (and other seed) is you're using on your oatmeal. Thank you!!

I’d say being obsessed with your body isn’t great, rather one should strive to have awareness of oneself and how you feel. Some people have eating disorders and/or body dysmorphia due to how media pushes diet and weight loss on people, especially women.

I agree with you about focusing on getting healthier and not only focusing on the external appearance. I lost my parents because they didn’t focus on health and weren’t willing to make changes. I’m finding it hard to commit to exercising. Any suggestions on how to make it a part of my life?
@CurlySusie2 жыл бұрын
Hi April B. I’m sorry to hear about your parents. I have one parent who without getting into details is “very hard on themselves”. I think fitting exercise into your lifestyle and committing to it is tough to navigate but I’d like to make more videos on that topic because it’s something I actually feel I can help people with. Stay tuned.

Forget “exercising” and just go outside for a walk. While walking, notice your thoughts about exercising. Label them “helpful” or “not helpful”. Just notice the story you are telling yourself about exercise. Exercise is not for losing weight, it is for endorphins, for fun, for relaxation, for sleep, for happiness. Good luck.

I lost 140 lbs in a year, on WW, and I have gained 55 of it back. 🤦🏼♀️ As soon as I tried to eat more of a regular diet, the weight came flooding back. It wasn’t WW’s fault, because they don’t tell you what kinds of foods you can or can’t eat, but for me, I found that if I wanted to lose, I had to cut bread, rice, pasta, sweets, and potatoes, and I could only eat around 800 calories a day. Even exercising, and trying to work those foods back in in a limited amount, I gained. Then I get depressed and throw my attempts at health out the window. I have to find something sustainable that works for me, and I just haven’t yet.
@lisaa39782 жыл бұрын
Go back to WW to lose the 55, since that really worked for you and is healthy. Then very slowly add calories to maintain. The first week, 100 more calories each day. If no weight gain, the next week, another 100 calories, etc. Limit sugar, breads and starches because those foods spike insulin, which puts the weight on.
@zulytown2 жыл бұрын
I have been following you for awhile but to be honest, I was offended tonight watching this video. What has worked for me, 6 years this month, may have not worked for you. Yes, I have eaten low carb Keto for almost 6 yrs this month. It's not a stupid diet, it's a way of eating and I miss nothing and I'm healthy and my doctors agree with the way that I eat. I'll stop commenting here. Ciao! Unsubscribed!
