@@odinuniverse797 Both Lin and Thomas are better than a lot of current 2nd/3rd string players in the current NBA. I mean, Scalabrine was in the NBA for 10 years. Lin was in it for 8, regardless of his immensely superior performance, and the same with Thomas. Sure, if they were asking for more money like Kapernick, I could understand why they aren't on a team. But neither Thomas nor Lin are asking for anything remotely big when it comes to contracts. It's just unfortunate circumstances that happened with the both of them, rather than being failures as players. Again, plenty of current NBA players that are worse than both of them.
@odinuniverse7973 жыл бұрын
@@LunarPrism34 Isiah Thomas has not been performing well for the past three years and so he was cut. Lin was an average to below average NBA player playing arguably the most important role in basketball, Point Guard. Brian was playing PF and Center and it is likely that he was on the teams that he was on because he went extremely hard in practices, giving the starters higher quality practices. His stats are so poor that it is very likely that he was primarily a practice roster player. There are not plenty of NBA players that are worse than Thomas and Lin. There are plenty of NBA players that are young and are still learning the ropes and have the potential to be amazing. Lin and Thomas are not young and they have already learnt the ropes. And they are average to below average at this very moment. Big difference.
@LunarPrism343 жыл бұрын
@@odinuniverse797 Plenty of players in their late 20's that are still "learning the ropes". I guarantee Thomas/Lin would give their all in practice, and again, cost less than Scalabrine did. I get that there's bad players from time to time that exist in the NBA, or that there's young players learning the game. I've come to accept that neither Thomas or Lin will land a team because of the circumstances surrounding their respective careers, but I'll die on that hill. I'm not implying they'd randomly become stars that bring a team to a ring, but rather implying that they'd make an impact higher than certain players currently in the NBA (excluding younger ones, since I can understand that point)

He had more game than Booker while not even being as good as Booker and you think him being asian played no parts in that ? If jimmer fredette was asian they would have called him the next Lebron over there and that guy would have made as much money as Lin 😂😂😂 overrating someone just because they’re the same race or background as you doesn’t make them good just because you think they are. People only see the good in having Lin on teams like the jersey sales that comes with it and all the fan support from Asia but being a Raptors fans there’s a bad side that comes with it like the media from China trying to tell our coach to make Lin the focal point of the offense and just strange questions like asking teammates what did they learn about China from Lin. Idk, when he played on the raptors championship squad, he wasn't even playable for us in the playoffs. He would turn the ball over as soon as he stepped on court and didn't even play defense and it rubbed the raptors franchise the wrong way. We let him walk that same offseason. Lin is a regular season player at best, he is unusable in the playoffs when defenses turn up.

Thank you for the video. I watch Lin's game since Linsanity and believe he deserves an opportunity to back to NBA. Lin still keeps the record of the highest score in the first 5 starting games., and all the 5 games won, which makes it almost an unbeatable record. Jeremy Lin announced today that he will be returning to play in Asia. Apparently, he has until the end of the regular season to get picked up by someone. I hope his announcement draws out some potential teams to sign him. I'm a fan and would love to see the Lin we got when he was with the Hornets or the Nets. He was ballin' then. Unfortunately, he's 32, injury prone and his last effort in Toronto was not great to say the least.
@robwebnoid57633 жыл бұрын
I think he just did not fit in Toronto. There was a feeling he lost confidence in ATL & by the time he got to the Raptors, he just felt uncomfortable & awkward. There was really no good buzz. Of course the buzz coming to Toronto was here comes that player that made a big thing as a Knick vs Raptors with that final buzzer beater. But that was about it. And he was still trying to get over his last big injury from 2 years prior.
@Paulman23 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify, the closest report from (now yesterday) is what I think you were referring to: "Jeremy Lin was asked at the Collision press conference about potentially playing in Europe, but steered his focus on going back and playing in Asia. "My impact in Asia is something that I feel like I need to continue to work towards."" twitter.com/diamond83/status/1384928509890646019 So I think it was more in the context of would he go to Europe (or back to Asia). As you alluded to, I read that technically he still has before May 18th or thereabouts to get signed, because that's when the play-ins start (and the regular season ends).

This is a great point. China has a TON of influence on the NBA, and it's possible they didn't appreciate being slighted by Lin when he turned down that fat contract. What China wants, China gets.

He is a 32 years old player that for the most part is just above average starter in nba at his young. I am not saying he cannot play in nba, his skill is definitely gonna hold up. However, there are so much talent to develop for every team. He is not offering what old star player such as howard or rondo are providing, and he doesn't have a future like a lot of young talents. You can't tell me that Jeremy Lin isn't good enough to lead a second unit off the bench on any modern NBA team. This guy is so talented. In this modern NBA high tempo system, his play style is beneficial. On top of that, he is such low risk to locker room tension. Is high work ethic and humility makes it feel like a relatively small gamble to give him a veteran minimum contract and make it clear you need and efficient 12 and 4 from him playing combo guard off the bench.

As a J Lin fan: Why would bottom tier teams get him? Why not let your young talent play, hopefully get better, you finish lower, get higher draft picks? If any team would want him, it's the middle of the pack teams that are on the cusp of playoffs. But even then you gotta ask is he going to improve the team? The guard positions are very competitive as is. But the video itself doesn't address it either, which is just the most obvious and logical answer for any org in the NBA.
@J314953 жыл бұрын
The mental maturity doesn’t help much when his older legs (and reduced lateral quickness) just fail to keep up with most of young guards. Lin, while a great offensive player, is not great enough to offset his defensive liability, very tough to fit into any lineup at this pt.

A couple things that weren’t mentioned in this video. 1) of the 60 starting PG/SG in the NBA how many of them would you bench for Lin? 2) of the 60 starting PG/SG in the NBA how many of them would you trust Lin to guard 1 on 1? 3) how effective is Lin in catch and shoot situations? 4) how well does Lin move off the ball? 5) what kind of play-off veteran leadership does he have to offer? 6) how good is he at fight over picks? I could go on but I’m sure you get my point. Yes, Jeremy Lin is really good playing in the CBA against players who wouldn’t last in an NBA setting. Yes, he played really well in the G-League against players who aren’t ready for the NBA. Yes, he can score nearly exclusively while on the ball but what NBA team doesn’t already have a player who can do that? I like Lin but the reason he isn’t in the NBA is because there are better players starting at his position and there are players who are catch and shoot 3 and D guys that fit the need of NBA teams better than he does. They didn’t ask him to go the G-League to prove he can recapture Linsanity they sent him there to see if he developed other aspects of his game that he clearly hasn’t. The NBA has not failed Lin, Lin failed himself.
