I have my EV6 GT line RWD since January 2022. The ICCU was replaced during my service in december but I never had an issue besides not being able to preheat the battery. (solved after the ICCU replacement) At the moment I have over 67000 km and the car still feels fantastic. Last 20 years I had 4 BMW, 2 Mercedes and 1 Audi. Thanks for all the updates Brian.

Great update, thank you. By the way I agree my EV6 AWD is the best car I have every owned or driven. I have had BMW's, Merc's, SAAB's, a v8 Jag and even a 5.8 V8 hemi Jeep. More recently my cars have been new and both my last BMW and the Merceedes soft top had recalls within the first year. Still I hope this a one off.

I’ve just released a brand new video about today's brand new North American Kia EV6 ICCU recall. I really think they’ve got to the bottom of it now. kzbin.info/www/bejne/npPKh2NvpZdnqrc

I just had my EV6 ICCU and ICCU Fuse replaced yesterday. My 12 Volt battery died last week. Thankfully the turnaround time for the new part was quick.

I’ve had a similar problem with a Tesla model Y where the PCS (similar to ICCU) failed and the 12v (16v) battery was not being charged. Car off road for a month as no parts in the UK as it’s unusual for this to fail.
@deryckarnold9 ай бұрын
Weve just had our ICCU replaced in the UK because of this failure - the car issues a warning, that essentially means the car shouldn’t be driven further. Ours was towed in. Will be interesting to see if the replacement has the same inherent problem, and thus our car is recalled. Keep up the good work, it is interesting to hear what you manage to publish.

I'm delighted that Hyundai is being pro-active in repairing and improving the ICCU in its EVs. It is basically a similar component as the PCS in my previous Model 3, which started to break down, yet Tesla refused to cover it under its battery warranty, so the repair cost me thousands! Hyundai is obviously more responsible and supportive of its customers! I've got an appointment for the recall next week for my 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited. Cheers!

My EV6 was in for its First Service yesterday, (MY23) and it had a safety recall on the ICCU listed and carried out. There was 2 safety recalls on it in total but i didnt have time to read the first one upside down, but the Service lady confirmed the ICCU one.

It will be interesting if our MYB24 (11-2023) will be part of this. Here in Australia, we are usually the last to get updates by any manufacturer.

My 2022 EV6 EV ICCU failed with all the typical faults; large warning sign on the vehicle drive screen, red battery light on, and entered failsafe and would only accelerate to 25 mph. Limped it the two blocks home and called the local dealer. KIA USA sent a tow truck. I called KIA USA for this free service. And now have a rental (7 days and counting) till the ICCU is replaced (tomorrow?).

My ICCU failed a month ago (on a Friday). They examined the car on Monday, immediately ordered the part and it was delivered two weeks later. I picked up my EV6 with the new ICCU at the dealer exactly 19 days after failure..

Just dropped my 2023 ev6 GT-line off at the Dealership. It was no longer charging Level 1 or 2. I could charge at Electrify America level 3.

That does sound like the ICCU AC charging fault.

Glad this is a recall but will never buy another Hyundai/Kia. Had my 2 year old Ioniq 5 ICCU failure August last year. Unable to charge. Car still drove normally. Took THREE MONTHS to sort. Dealership was pathetic. No communication at all. Wrote to Mr Ashley Andrew, General Director of Hyundai UK! Was then looked after by their "executive" team. They were still useless but at least kept informed weekly.. that they were still waiting on the new ICCU part. Looked to sell the car when I got it back but huge depreciation. On EVs and all cars to be honest. Hyundai could not really give a damn. Then took another 3 months to get a small amount of petrol money back for use in their supplied courtesy car. And they absolutely refused to supply me with an EV as a courtesy car. Their local supplier (Thrifty cars) gave me an EV anyway at their cost! Was a beautiful BMW iX1. Did not miss the Ioniq 5 at all. Have my I5 back and it drives well etc. Been an EV driver for 7 years now. May well head back to ICE next. When EVs go wrong they are a hassle as dealerships are so poor. Will be expensive out of warranty. No thanks. Just everybody seems so clueless about it all.

I don't blame you. They have treated you terribly. One problem I'm seeing is all the technology that comes in all cars,not just EVs. They overcomplicate what would be a simple thing to repair

I cancelled my order for an EV6 gt after waiting 15 months for delivery simply because there are so many faults starting to appear with the Kia/ Hyundai product. Bought a BMW i4 e40 instead about 18months ago and not had a single fault, to date. Yes 7 yr warranty is great but I really don’t want to be making repeated visits to the dealer if things need attention. I’m also retired.

Just had 8000mile service done yesterday. 2023 EV 6 wind awd, asked about recall and representative looked up recalls and found nothing listed for the car even with all the talkabout it. I have no issues with the 12v battery, so ?
@evodessey9 ай бұрын
Looks like the Kia version of the recall is not quite ready according to forum posts i’ve seen. Also the date when they start sending recall letters out is April 29th in the US. Ioniq 5 owners are already receiving the update though.

99.999% sure that I’ve just had mine replaced after a spectacular failure (it had has the recall to flash it previously) after it got dragged across the country after dying at a HPC charger in Chester. Had a warning about the LDC and the 12v battery discharged (4 hrs into waiting for RAC to pick my up middle of cold night, thanks RAC), but as it died on charge it couldn’t detect cable removed so entire car was unmovable. Find out if it was tomorrow. Given they could source a part instantly (they opened doors Tuesday lunchtime and had it replaced Wednesday afternoon) I assume its this and it also suggests Kia UK have a lot of them, if you want to infer if a recall-replace might be imminent…
@mad4tar779 ай бұрын
I'm confused by this one, do you think it's just another software update (and replacement ICCU if the car has certain codes logged), or is it a blanket replacement of all ICCUs of cars with a build date between 2021 and late 2023 (or whenever the updated hardware on the ICCU came out)
@evodessey9 ай бұрын
I’m not sure either. I think it will become clearer once an actual Kia or Hyundai TSB is published. At the moment with what we know from Korean press and this US Hyundai recall is going to be very similar to the previous one. Maybe they have added more code for problem detection. We shall see.
@susihormon78219 ай бұрын
@@evodesseywe believe its still the same recall. Now it is "loud" and official. In Germany we have lots of owners who waited 2 month for replacement. Some had already a second fault. Korea is still guessing. Didnot find the medicine. in the ev9 they made the service easier. Easy access.
@evodessey9 ай бұрын
@susihormon7821 I don't think it is. I've seen the new TSB for Ioniq 5 and it's a new software version. EV6 has also just been recalled this morning in US so will know more once that TSB released
@susihormon78219 ай бұрын
@@evodessey we will see if the Software can fix it. nobody knows the codelines and what it does. And nobody knows the cause and if the iccu got weared out in the time before the update. It's a pity that Europe is so slow in this matter. Germany has almost one year longer e gmp on the road. And nothing happens. Eu Headquarter is a sleeping sloth

Feb 7th 2024 is the cutoff date. Normally takes 6 weeks for boat to get from Korea to UK. Your car may or may not have it. If you have Carscanner & OBD dongle you can tell for sure.

I’ve had 3 people ask if it’s changed my opinion of the EV6, having been out of action 2 weeks awaiting them finding availability to look at it at dealership, and the recovery to home was a 16 hr nightmare of abandonment by RAC. But no. It’s still pound for pound the best car you can buy in the uk today, and is the best car I’ve ever had, and it’s not even close. It’s irksome but they’re finding the problems. I had a mark 3 mondeo whose irksome bug that was discovered was that it shredded its clutch and destroyed the flywheel and starter, for which Ford had an advisory and still refused cover for customers, so it’s not that!
