When my Ioniq 5 lease ends and the time comes to purchase another EV, my decision to stay with Ioniq will largely be determined by whether you are still hosting your Ioniq Guy podcast channel. (And if you became the BMW Ix Guy you can bet that BMW Ix would be my next car.) You are the model and standard for independent unbiased automobile advice. Thank you.

4:07 - You've earned my smash of the subscribe button. Much appreciated! Good thing I passed on a new 2023 Ioniq 6 AWD. Dealer slashed 15k off on it - now I think I know why. Good thing I went with a 2024 RWD instead.

I actually had a recall notice on this in August 2023 on my Genesis GV60 Performance, and my dealership had the car for a week to replace both rear half shafts. It must have been more widespread than they thought.

I checked for my vehicle. Dealership said it's not under my VIN number and corporate concurred. It must have been a particular lot of parts that only affects about 1165 vehicles. Definitely get it done right away!!

Figured try would be the best one to answer this question. When I use my phone to start heating up my car most of the time it works, but every 5 times or so the air conditioning comes on and it's freezing in my car. Do you know why it would do this? Thanks you!

Looks like my 2023 IONIQ 5 AWD ducked the recall. Hopefully the span of the recall is accurate and it doesn’t expand like the rear hatch spacers did to include mine. 💁🏻♂️

It's somewhat expected that the first production cars will be the "guinea pig" models to work out the kinks so the automaker can fix those problems for subsequent year models. I'm just glad I waiting until 2024 to buy my Ioniq 5 Limited. Hopefully it won't have as many recalls.

"Will be made whole" Really? Are you sure? My warranty repair that took over 3 months and had me in an ICE rental cost me over $700 in fuel costs that I wouldn't have had with my Ioniq 5 and neither the dealer or my Hyundai corporate case manager were willing to do anything about it. Wouldn't even give me a service credit in any amount for future use.
@imadude197811 ай бұрын
My GV60 had the driveshaft break while driving. It’s been at service since early November. Thoroughly unimpressed with the car, service and brand as a whole.
@pokerguvna97811 ай бұрын
@@imadude1978 sorry to hear that. To be clear - I love my Ioniq 5. Truly my favorite vehicle I've ever owned, drove, or rode in. But I definitely cannot wait for the elimination of the dealer model and the evolution of small mechanics into EV specialists.

Cool, my Ioniq 5 was manufactured in Feb 2023. I guess I'm one of the 206! 🙃 #reardriveshaftgang

Did the NHTSA search show that?
@CallMeIvan51611 ай бұрын
@@TheIoniqGuy No, not yet. I'm assuming it will take some time to update the databases and have information propagate out. But my door sticker shows that Feb 2023 manufacture date, so I have no reason to believe I'm not impacted (sorry for the double negative).

@@TheIoniqGuy In addition, I haven't seen any Ioniq 5 or EV6 owner say their vehicle popped up on a VIN search. And I read comments here on KZbin, in Facebook groups, the r/Ioniq5 subreddit, and the forums. I'm sure some of us ARE impacted, but we just don't have confirmation yet.

These recall videos always freak me out because there's never any news on the Kia Soul EV because it's not sold in America but it is sold in Canada. But nobody ever reports if there's issues with that car. Can't even find any information about any of this when searching Transport Canada's website.
@fleecystheking11 ай бұрын
The Soul EV (in its last iteration, exclusive to Canada on our continent) is a sister car to the Kona electric, actually. Apart from its battery, most of its components are shared. You can watch for Kona electric issues if you are concerned for Soul EV issues.

i think some ev are cool,, dont know why anyone would buy them thou .... imagine an ICE car that has a fuel tank level that daily lowers just sitting and the fuel tank gets smaller and smaller over time,,,,,, no one in their right mind would ever buy one ,,, never mind that the price of ev can be 50 % more over the same ICE model
