I felt that way too when I was home with my daughter. I always had the best intentions during her naps, and then just ended up being tired and unmotivated to move. For me, it ended up being a part of postpartum depression and being chronically exhausted! It does get better, I hope it gets better fast for you!

I have this too! But mine isn't postpartum, I've just got depression. It's called executive dysfunction, where you have all the creativity and motivation in the world, but you just... don't do it. I often feel really guilty because I never get anything done, but I have to forgive myself because I know I can't help it, even if it would be so easy for a normal person to just get up and do it.

A lot of times weird, hard to identify feelings are grief. We talk about grief a lot in regards to people, but not so much when it comes to jobs and projects and such. You worked so hard on your show and it takes a long time to work through feelings like that when something you care about ends. Just feel your feelings, girl. I understand that feeling Coleen. I'm seven weeks postpartum and just last week I've started feeling more like myself and trying to get back into my online shop. I make handmade deco stuff and bracelets and before then I had zero drive to get up and make some, even though I have some time while my daughter is sleeping. Like you I have all these ideas but executing them can be so hard. I had a little push a couple days ago and felt really accomplished after but the days following I slowed back down and felt unmotivated. But we can't be too hard on ourselves. We are mothers and we're doing a lot for our babies, especially with breastfeeding. Finding time to relax can be hard, let alone finding time to focus on work. Don't beat yourself up about taking a break when Flynn is content.

Hey, Colleen, have you talked to your doc about postpartum depression? My depression manifests like that, I don’t always feel super down or some form of unhappiness, but I usually can’t function unless it’s to take care of my dog lol. When you said that you would lay down for an hour and not be able to move that really resonated with me. I hope this doesn’t come off scary or anything bc I’m definitely not a doctor, but just maybe take it into consideration if you’re experiencing other symptoms of depression as well. Take care ♥️

Please talk to your doc about ppd. I had similar experiences, and I denied my post partum until it turned into bipolar depression. Lack of motivation is a sign. Even if it's mild, even if it's a slim possibility, talk to your doc and trust your gut. Being scatter brained, feeling highly emotional or having mood swings, things like that are 'normal' new mom things but also symptoms. Not enough rem sleep totally messes up a new hormonal mom. I’m a new mom and I felt the same way as well but you have to think about your mental and physical health. You taking an hour to just take a break while Flynn naps is being productive. Flynn needs you to be your best self. This exhaustion will pass and you will be able to do the things you want. You’re doing a great job.
