It's not easy time at all, and you get no real benefit from being there, (except that it's harder for other inmates to get their hands on you) plus you may be restricted on electronics and are definitely restricted on yard time.

I’d like to see the penalty be life in prison. The offender has permanently altered the victim’s life. If the victim has a lifelong consequence because of the offender’s actions, it’s only fair that the offender have at least the same. Plus it guarantees that they won’t harm another child.

Haven't finished this yet, but I so love Judge Simpson. He goes out of his way in efforts to mediate landlord-tenant issues. I've seen countless videos of him doing everything he can to resolve the disputes, but some people are just impossible. Would love to hear more judges say "Boot Him."

When I was a small child, my great aunt was married to (what I realize now) a pervert. I don’t remember if I ever knew his history, but I do remember when we went over for a rare visit my mother would caution me to NEVER, EVER get within reach of him (I think he was immobile) and when he asked for a hug to ignore him. I seem to remember overhearing my parents talking about him kissing little girls on the mouth. I fail to understand why they ever took me there in the first place, but I do know if he had touched me my dad would killed him.

Why does it seem like *every* landlord-tenant case has the Defendant claiming non-payment of rent due to alleged problems with the property?

Most states have a law that says that if there are certain types and amounts of problems with the property then you can lawfully withhold rent and instead pay the rent into escrow. When the landlord fixes the problems the landlord can try to get some or maybe all of the money out of escrow to reimburse themselves for the months where the tenant lived there but there were problems. Judges enforce the part about problems with the property being a defense to paying rent, but they don't enforce the escrow part. Sometimes they don't require any escrow at all. Other times they make a sort of gesture towards requiring escrow, maybe by ordering some partial escrow, but they don't require the full amount and they drag their feet doing anything if the partial escrow isn't paid. This lets people delay eviction by pretending that there are problems with the property.

Ya know, I’ve thought about how to get into the headspace to do something like this, and I think the way to do this is to look at it this way: Defense is MAKING SURE they find all the loopholes and objections ahead of time to make sure that what was accused actually occurred and was done by the defendant and there’s no mitigating reasons. They’re also MAKING SURE that this only has to be done once and that there will be no holes that would make a successful appeal. Looking at it that way, you want to do your utmost to find all the holes and reasons and so on and bring them up now so they don’t come up and let the bad guys do bad things more.

My biggest issue with Judge Simpson is that he repeatedly is too lenient with tenant's. The guy did NOTHING he was supposed to do and yet he was given more time. Then, because Simpson's ego was hurt when the attorney rightfully told him his ruling was crap, he explodes into tough guy. As for the pedo creep, he'll be dead soon enough. His health will go downhill quickly or the other prisoners will have their way with him. Personally, I think he should get a taste of his own medicine.
