Probably but it also might be easier to wrap things up in the final book then it is right now. There are so many characters and storylines and everything is l starting to really connect and pop off soon so this is probably by far the hardest part of the story to write. He also started his sprawling epic in the 90s and even though he died he gave his best friend the story and taught his students his art style and we might actually see the end of Berserk even though the creator died before he could finish it. berserk is significantly less convoluted than game of thrones. in fact, game of thrones is one of the longest, most convoluted, most detailed, most intertwined series of book/story literature ever written. berserk is beautifully simple, with only a small handful of characters and an expertly crafted philosophical and moral background in a medieval setting. the entire story of berserk would be less than a single chapter of a single book in got.

@@psevdhome berserk achieves beauty with a very small cast of characters, a very tightly knit plotline, and almost no worldbuilding at all. the series is about the internal struggles of one man, and its beautiful. it also tells its story through art, so theres as much detail that you can see. asoiaf tells the story through long, verbose descriptions with as much detail as humanly possible, whilst also including internal struggles of every character they could possibly introduce.

Jordan was a great author who left notes, worked regularly and churned books out regularly. When he was faced with a terminal illness, he made sure it would be finished after him and left extensive notes and some key passages outright that he wanted to do himself... George gets offended when asked about the inevitable and hasn't released a new book in the series proper for about 2 decades now (Book 5 was split from Book 4) Jordan never left readers without a book for even 5 years.

You know, ever since I've heard this I've been thinking. Maybe part of the reason why he's taking so long and why he says the book keeps getting longer is because he realizes how old he is and that he might not be able to have the chance to finish a Dream of Spring and so he feels this subconscious need to make Winds of Winter as big as he possibly can and write it in such a way that if it is last book in the series, it can be seen as a good end for the story but also if he does have the chance to finish a Dream of Spring, then the ending of Winds of Winter is open-ended enough that he can connect the two. Kind of like how Mass Effect 1 would be a perfectly fine isolated story in itself but The ending was still open ended enough that it gave them the chance to make more games after it.

Maybe if *The Winds Of Winter* is ultimately as large as Mr. Martin suggests, something could be done once it's finished. Maybe release it in two volumes so that each one isn't gargantuan in terms of literal book size. I remember getting *A Storm Of Swords* when that first came out and that book was *HUGE*. It was so big and I read it so much it eventually got worn out. Pages started falling out and the spine literally almost split in half. Not because I was rough with the book (I was very careful with it) but the thing was just so large it eventually literally broke.

3/4 of the way is better then we’ve ever gotten. We know its a rewrite too. Best guesses for this is probably end of 2024 or the year 2025. This will probably be sooner since he has noted he finished writing tyrion

I gave up on ADOS years ago, but I really think that we’ll get TWOW by 2030! Frankly though I kind of wish we could just pull a Wheel of Time and let another author take over based on GRRM’s notes
