It takes so long to recover after a flood, I lived through one in Michigan. If it wasn't for Baptist Disaster Relief helping me, I would not of made it. The volunteers were the kindest people I ever met in my whole life. I'm sorry everything your community is going through. Sending prayers to you & your community! Also, thank you for the updates, you do a perfect job filming & explaining.

Your efforts to share the reality of the flood are appreciated. Although I am not from your area and I do not know anyone from there I feel confident your focus on showing impacted areas on a map would certainly benefit those concerned about people they know. Thank you again for your dedication.

@Tracy Hipps I really don't understand why your rant included White Privilege. Thanks to the incompetence of Dam owners,government and Dow Chemical. All these flooded properties are contaminated with dioxins. It will eventually be cleaned up and or contained. But that will make another 10 years or more. So the White Privileged people and communities are stuck with homes, parks, buildings and property with little or no value.

@Tracy Hipps Get your facts straight , The state of Michigan was in charge of this property, they took it over 2 years ago! The dams owner was fined, in the past, for lowering the gates to prevent flooding, (didn't we learn that from California, big rains coming, open the gates to drain as much water as possible to prevent these kind of disasters) as some f'ing liberal nut blocked it because it would displace the mussels upstream in the lake! Guess what bet their are no mussels there now! The Free press and Mlive have this info easy to verify! Earthen dams require different control methods vs. dams like The Hoover Dam. Also the lake owners around the lake didn't want the gates lowered, in the past as it took too long to recharge the lake! Go figure. Physics always wins.

The thing I like most in your videos is that you have the confidence to take it slow. A nice, easy flyover so we can take in all the views. So many vloggers with a drone - rush, rush, rush - and don't allow the viewer to absorb what they are seeing. Your pacing is just excellent ! Thanks for all the updates.

The two rivers meeting looks like coffee and creamer trying to mix! That bridge is awesome - I love bridges and this one is very cool. I like your music selection too! Cleaning and repairing is certainly keeping people busy and is probably going to take quite long. It does appear to be very organized. Tremendous loss! What's the overall mood besides shock and a sense of loss? Again, thanks for another fantastic video!

Another great vid. I was there during the 2017 flood and remember that it did minor damage to the Tridge because a barge and scaffolding were attached to it for a rehab project. The flooding tore the barge away and left a lot of the scaffolding hanging. I don't know if anyone else caught it, but one of the homeowners threw away a fairly new looking charcoal grill. Why throw that out? I can understand appliances like fridges or stoves, but a charcoal grill has nothing a flood can ruin. All steel, easy to hose down, and can reach temps that kill almost any pathogen inside if you are worried about it being in sewer water.

hows it good for the environment? its not like salmon are using that river to spawn and with all that material being thrown into incinerators and landfills far outweighs any benefit from unblocking two dams in that part of the country now add all the new stuff people have to go out and buy and the electricity lost from that power plant that will be replaced by natural gas burning at least for the time being... but id say theres only a fifty fifty chance both those dams will be rebuilt
@Xanthopteryx
@Xanthopteryx 4 жыл бұрын
@@philtripe A dam like this is not good since you block the streaming water, and you block the rivers natural flow of sediment, and you block the rivers natural variation throughout the year, and you block the possibility for fish and other wildlife to migrate up in the river, and more.... This kind of event is also part of a natural river formation. You get meander bows, that are VERY important for life in the nature (aquatic and land), and they sometimes ends up in what could be called a dam or a small lake, and then it burst through and so on. And beavers can build dams and those do not last as long and leaks water that helps animals travel up streams. And the dam brakes. And you get blockage from debris that build dams, that blocks. Everything is part of the natures life, and everything is adapted to that. Not a compact solid concrete dam. If you do not build another dam there, nature will recover VERY quickly from this and it will be even better after.
