I bought a 2024 Sonata SEL about a month ago & I love it! This is my 4th Sonata. My last 3 were very reliable, never broke & I imagine this one will be the same. The shifter is a little weird at first, but now I like it. I do have to be careful not to jump into the car too quickly because I have hit my knee on it a few times & I don't want to break it off. It is smooth, quiet & comfortable. It looks amazing & turns heads. The only complaint I have so far is all the little nooks & crannies in the grill, bumpers & wheels. They are a pain to wash & the car wash doesn't get them clean. It also drips water for days after washing it from the tail light bar, mirrors & doors. If you want it perfectly clean you have to keep a towel with you & keep drying it - I gave up. This car is one of the best cars I've ever owned & I've had a lot.

Currently leasing a ‘23 Sonata NLine and after selling my Infiniti, have been quite pleased. I *love* the aesthetics of mine equally with the refresh. I was strongly considering leasing a G80 Sport next but that refresh has my full attention after testing one while at my dealer for a maintenance interval. - Hyundai has really knocked it out of the park and admittedly I now find myself not even missing any of the luxurious features my Infiniti and Lexus models had standard.

I drove the 2024 Elantra for a couple of weeks and can tell you why I might pick it over a base Sonata. It's the lightness, the agility, plus lower fuel consumption. Nothing in its class is easier to drive. It reminded me of that every time I drove it. The fact that it has a roomy back seat is icing on the cake.

I agree, just traded in my 2021 Elantra Limited for a 2024 Sonata w/ the convenience package. I missed my baby, wished i kept it, but the collison sensor went bad twice, was under warranty, no charge.I was averaging 39-45 miles a gallon on the highway. I had less than 37,000 miles. I can't really contribute how the 24 Sonata drives, just yet. I just bought it 3 weeks ago. But I do love the front bumper redesign. I was looking at the 23 Sonata, but I disliked the honeycomb look. Love the spacious trunk storage area. Recieved the hard plastic foot floor covering for the front and back. Opened the trunk and there were the cloth carpets for front and back. Guess, I am going to return the WeatherTech items for a refund🤣. Will update any additional info in the future.

@@pmiron If your driving is mainly highway, you are certainly better off with the Sonata. For me personally, the majority of my driving is in town. Hyundai must be doing something right as they are now the third largest automobile manufacturer in the world. However, in my opinion Hyundai try to hard on exterior styling and change design cues to often, this of course impacts re-sale value as no on wants the "old model".

If I had a choice I’d chose the push button transmission. I have nerve damage in my fingers and being able to just push a button is easier for me. My beautiful 22’ Venza 😉 Zack has the traditional console shifter which is becoming harder for me to squeeze the release lever to change gears. But yes, the push buttons would be my choice 👍🏻

2.5L naturally aspired engine and AWD and in Canada outstandingly well equipped - that is the model to get for just a vehicle that is a great do all. Now they say it is "wonderful" until you drive the N-Line and then - wow this is how it should be BUT - it has apparently not nearly the "real world" mpg. The 8-speed transmission is very well established and durable - domestically Hyundai was taking a beating from people who just do not want to understand how to drive the dual clutch and anyone who frames how to drive them for lots of enjoyment and long life was largely spoken over - so good or bad it removes one of those "moot points" people just will not give up on.

Hyundai : « Hybrid didn’t sell well » ; if people think the previous model looked odd, the hybrid was worst with that chrome strip in the front bumper and the fuel efficient wheels. As a previous model owner (1.6T model), there are very few reasons to upgrade to this new model. I feel like the new design is as polarizing as the previous design, you either love it or you hate it (I like the fish design, not so much the current light bar everywhere trend). Having said all of this, if you are in the market for a good road and city sedan, the Sonata is an excellent, well equipped and dependable car.

there will always be a market for a sedan, just like there's a market for hatchbacks, minivans, and wagons. just because the industry only wants to make crossovers, it doesn't mean sedans don't sell. people just have gotten use to styling trends, so as long as they look good enough to drive everyday without feeling embarrassed, people will buy them. so the fact Hyundai wants to keep the Sonata around, i applaud them for it. that said, if Hyundai wants to sell more, they might wanna take a look at the styling. that front end could be a turn off for some people, the Elantra is another car that has a odd design. when it comes to styling, you gotta be careful not to overdo it with the styling, and grills are something people see from the front of the car, and if it looks too odd to people, than can affect a buying purchase.

Even after driving a BMW 300 series, I now drive a 2021 Elantra NLine which totally equates to fun driving expereience with good power performance but with much less price than the Bimmers.

The stick on the column ? Boo! I like the buttons much better. Putting the drive park , neutral on the stick/column takes us clear back to the 60s! Hate that.

My 2015 Sonata had rear parking sensors, heated rear seats, and rear vents. I went with the Santa Fe in 2021, and would consider the sedan next. Nope.

whats the point of having a hybrid when for example this 2024 Sonata is 7.6l/100km and the hybrid camry 7.4l/100km? So a more complex motor setup will lead to 100 extra in payment that people dont have to pay for. Sonata wins

I still think the 2011 to 2014 Sonatas are the best looking and the 2.4 had up to 200 HP in the Sport . You just needed to change oil frequently and check its level . Something that is not normal for your average Hyundai owner .

Definitely a more attractive car. Like you I found the previous generation hideous (carp for sure)! I have the 2022 Tucson PHEV like your mothers, is there any chance of a software update to enable wirless Android Auto/Carplay?

I much prefer the front of the previous model. It was sporty, elegant, and a little aggressive. I find the new front to be bland and generic. It looks like too many other brands.

I rented one of these for two weeks. The fuel economy was better than expected. The looks were polarizing. The technology suite was unnecessary busy. The looks were improved over the previous generation. That being said the seats were extremely uncomfortable. Both my wife and I experienced extreme discomfort on long road trips. The gearing shifter is horrible.

I like the exterior… a lot. The interior does little-to-nothing for me, maybe its the colour, design or abundance of plastic… I’m not sure. I have seen articles/pictures discussing a ‘shooting-brake’ N-variant… Wow! That would be about the only version (manual?) that would get me into a Hyundai dealership. At this Sonata’s price point (for a midsized 4-door sedan)… I would go for an Accord or Camry… or even the Subaru Legacy. Thanks for the video.

Sorry, I like the old style. All the manufacturers are doing now is trying to make their cars look like they are electric. Boring. FYI.. I got an Elantra N line. Very sporty and is almost as big as the Sonata ( my previous car)

The shifter on steering column is better. Not only because it saves space for other things. But on my Tucson, I’ve had my dog walk on the button while driving throwing it from d to n and a loss of power. Before you scold me, he was tied on a leash to the back seats but he ate through!

Odd they aren't bringing a hybrid here. The new Camry coming out is only available as a hybrid, with more power, better fuel economy and (IMO) better looks. I still think the Camry will be the one to beat (again).

Gigantic IPAD screens 🙄🙄🙄🙄 once again. Why are manufacturers obsessed with these distracting screens? What's wrong with separate analog gauges ? Even if they are digital. I cant imagine if one of these screens go downs, get cracked, scratched and you are out of warranty. Good luck.

150% agree. When the euro regs kick in and start dinging these all-screen cars for the distraction mobiles that they are, we'll hopefully see this trend stop.

Even my old Ford Edge had a large screen and ... they pushed the extended warranty because of it. Edit: Munroe Live states that the push buttons cost more money and Sandy loves the big screens for that reason.

@@bassandtrebleclef right there with you. I have an 8.8 inch screen and it’s more than enough. Last thing I wanna do is fiddle with touch screens doing everything for me. I prefer analog gauges and a few buttons elsewhere to do the extras when needed. I enjoy the driving experience and appreciate the input from my vehicle. Don’t need a gigantic screen or module doing it all for me. Just a personal preference. Call me old school.

@@ScubaSteveCanada I was still working on cars at a dealership in the city when these screens started showing up early on and I can’t tell you how many times techs would lose their 💩 trying to diagnose issues with them. Cars sitting in the service department for days on end. Like you mentioned as well warranty was pushed ten fold on them by the sales department and finance , and not everything was covered by it. Huge amounts of money leaving customers pockets for ridiculous repairs.

@@bassandtrebleclef More nanny state intrusion. If people are distracted looking at the screens, that's on them. We're going to regulate ourselves right out of existence.
