Thanks for the great tutorial! QUESTION: If you then want to use this pattern on a POD product on Printify, what do you need to do? Do you download the one square and then use the Create Pattern toggle in Printify? Or do you download the 4 squares image you've assembled? I kinda wish you had covered what comes next... I'm new to this!
@thecreativekatstudioКүн бұрын
You can do either one. If you use the one square, the pattern on your Printify item will be larger. If you download the 4 squares version then the over all pattern in Printify will be smaller. I’ll work on creating another video showing how to use Printify and Printful for patterns.

The info on the gradient background is very valuable for me that creates surface patterns that are seamless. Also, may I know how we can make the background line-up or become seamless if it is textured? Like if I want to background to have canvas texture, or have dots, or have a canvas background, or any other texture. This is a big problem for me coz if I piece my pattern together it is broken or not seamless coz of the textured background. THANKS!
@thecreativekatstudio16 күн бұрын
Working with texture is a bit difficult because it's usually a random kind of pattern, so it's not going to line up. What you could do is try to find a texture that has a repeat to it first, and then try to add your other elements. There are also a couple built in apps on Canva for repeating patterns. You might want to try those as well.

New subscriber here! I have a question... why do we need to use grids to make the pattern?
@thecreativekatstudioАй бұрын
You don't have to use grids if you don't want.🙂 I did the tutorial this way based on some subscriber questions I received in the past.
@sarahmalm9684Ай бұрын
This is a very helpful update. I’ve wondered if using the quad grid to get the final pattern would help with eliminating the white line? Have you tried this?
@thecreativekatstudioАй бұрын
Using the quad option on the final pattern does produce some ever so tiny while lines. You're better off positioning it yourself and using the arrow keys to nudge it where you need it.

Great time saver! Can you use unaltered pro canva elements in a pattern design like this for sale as a flattened image? Or, do you have to edit each 'clipart' before including in the design? The terms of use are confusing about what you can and cannot do with 'raw' assets. Thanks.
@thecreativekatstudioАй бұрын
It depends on exactly how you are using those pro elements. Canva actually addressed this in a video a while back that explains it much better than their printed terms of use. You can watch it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIe1ZaZ_p7GXd5o

Wow thank YOU kat for this great video. Can you also make a video on how to make horizontal, vertical or diagonal line / lines seamless pattern in canva? I may have missed your video on it. If there's one already maybe you can share to me the link to video? Thanks again
@thecreativekatstudioАй бұрын
I don't have a video on that one yet, but I'll try to put one together. Working with lines and diagonals is a bit more complicated when trying to get them to line up.

How do you make a recurring patters that is not a perfect square shape?
@thecreativekatstudioАй бұрын
You can just use a rectangle shape, but you would need to adjust which of the grid layouts to use so it all lines up correctly.

Haven't used Canva since the update, so I'm feeling my way around. My pattern appears to look great until I test it. I've tried it multiple times. I notice that when I duplicate elements when building the pattern, that the new element seems to jump a bit. Thought maybe this was the issue, affecting the match on the edges. I've also done patterns before in Canva and Procreate and have had no issue lining them up. Any suggestions please... Anyone? Thanks
@thecreativekatstudioАй бұрын
Try using the command key if your on a Mac, or control key on a PC while you’re moving the elements.
@MisNatt85Ай бұрын
How do you create the seamless repeating pattern that goes to the edge of the frame? Mine does not line up.
@thecreativekatstudioАй бұрын
Try making the elements on your pattern slightly larger on the first starter image. Sometimes if the elements are too small, there are issues with the alignment.
@WhisperingWaveEchoes17 күн бұрын
HOw would you do this if you were trying to create a pattern out of an image you took with a camera?
@thecreativekatstudio16 күн бұрын
Images are kind of tricky because there are so many different colors in them. So I don't think this technique would be best for that. However you CAN use some of the built in Canva apps to achieve this. One app is called Pattern Maker. Another is called Replicator. Try those with your photos.🙂
@jaimeagius3517Ай бұрын
I've tried this over & over & still getting fine lines in my pattern
@thecreativekatstudioАй бұрын
Try doing it with larger elements to start the pattern and see if that works better. Sometimes really intricate patterns have an issue with this method.

My problem is a fine white line around the entire thing when it is uploaded to my print provider. It is very difficult to crop out because it is so fine.
@Jen_EtsyLadyАй бұрын
But I wasn't using a grid most of the time, so I will try your method. Thanks for the tutorial.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I have tried and tried and mine will not line up. I've created a test page twice and it's the same both times. :(
@thecreativekatstudioАй бұрын
What kind of pattern are you trying to create? Do a test run with a starter pattern that maybe only has a few things on it (kind of large) and see if they line up correctly.

Thanks for sharing but unfortunately the app is pro we only can do convert and export for free 😢
@thecreativekatstudioАй бұрын
The Design to Image app is free, however, the ability to change the export size is a Pro feature. What you can do instead is start with a very large design size like 5000 x 5000. That will help with resolution issue. As for the transparent background, there are a lot of free sites that will let you remove it. Adobe Express, Remove BG, and Pinetools all let you remove the background. You'll also find a link for a free trial of Canva Pro in the description if you want to try it out.🙂
