I live in the US, born here as well. I don’t understand why people want these huge houses. Expensive to build, maintain and higher utilities. My wife and I, even with kids, always keep going smaller. Getting ready to build our final retirement house ourselves at 400sf. The only thing that I would change with this house is how closed off the kitchen is, and open it up.

I agree! We’re building our own home right now and it’s just under 500 square feet for three people and pets and we’re so happy with it. I can see wanting a big house but the expense doesn’t make sense.

I love the thoughtfulness to the littles-the perch in the kitchen so they can see cooking, kid-sized comfy chair, kid-sized dining set, a little mirror down low in their bedroom so they can see their outfit 😍 But still a very beautiful house for the adults

The layout makes a difference size wise. We just moved from a 1000 square foot house to 900. The new house feels bigger. The basement height makes a difference for sure. We had a similar height to yours, and now have another foot. We went from a 1 1/2 story house with low ceilings upstairs to a bungalow with an open concept kitchen/living room so it feels so much more spacious. Your house is lovely!

Impressive having 2 kids in such a small space! Know how you feel! We bought a 4 bedroom house that has a one bedroom flat on the property. To save money for a year we are staying in the flat and renting out the house. Been crazy with a baby! The lounge and kitchen are the same room and then a little bedroom and bathroom. I really look forward to moving into the main house. You’ve given me lots of inspiration for decorating!!

Your current house is huge! Lived in a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom duplex for 6 years. 4 of us! Our kitchen was half the size of yours, the cellar was only a garage and tiny laundry room. We had no entry way, 1 tiny closet, and our living room was half your size. I could have made your house a permanent home for decades. We did finally move, because we now have 6 kids, 2 biological, 4 adopted and in process to adopt up to 2 more. Our current home, 5 tiny bedrooms ( 1 of the rooms is a converted laundry room) and 2.5 baths is almost 2,700 sq and with garage closer to 3,000. Our neighbors who have 2 kids feel their house, same as ours is too small..we feel as a family of 8 and still growing, we fit fine. But, I personally hate big homes! My current home is too big for me, would prefer to go back down to 1/2 the size if I could. Though, for 15 years, we have done everything at home, from work, church, school, exercising, haircutting, recreation, etc it's all done here...so this amount if space is perfect. But ya, love your home better imho...as smaller houses are the best!

I love to see videos like this. My house is 680 sq. feet and it is so fascinating for me to see where the extra space comes from in a house only slightly bigger. My bathroom is bigger than yours but my kitchen is galley style and much smaller. I am so envious you can have a wrap around couch. Our set up just doesn't allow for it. You have done such a great job decorating though. I love your windows! We do not have ANY window in our entire house that allows enough light for plants. We can only have snake plants. I will have to film a tour of my house as well.

I love all the storage cupboards in this home and the separate laundry room is bliss. It may be small by some standards but it contains everything you need.
