In this video we remodel an old bay window in the abandoned mobile home project. This was a big job but it is really going to change the look of the home. This is a major update to the curb appeal aspect.

I’m a woman in my 60’s with zero experience in building, but your videos fascinate me! Such wonderful workmanship. Anyone would be lucky to live in your finished projects!

Hi, Amy. Yes, it is very quiet there. I am starting to feel like it is my little cottage down by the creek. The creek runs just across the road. You can hear it running from the property but can't see it. You have to walk up to it. I will show it in a video, maybe the next one. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂

Awesome video thanks for sharing. I agree with you on putting just one window back. The other way was just one big air hole. You did a great job. Stay well and safe..

Hi, Stewart. This old guy was pretty tired at the end of that day. 10 hours. I'm not used to working like that anymore. But, I had to get it closed back up to keep that bear that has been roaming around there out! On the weekend it tore the window flower box off of my neighbor's place.

Ken, I’m looking forward to when you get to extending the Eaves on the mobile home because I was already planning on doing that with my double wide. You can show me how it’s done right. I’ve learned a lot from you over the last couple of years, thanks for all you do.

Mark, thanks. I appreciate you watching and commenting. Thanks for stickin' around. You will be amazed at how easy it is going to be to extend the eaves. It is very simple and totally changes the way the home looks.

Fun and inspiring to watch you at work; I've owned an older stick-build farmhouse and have owned/lived in 4 manufactured homes. I've long been attracted to the cost and space efficiency of factory built housing, and have come to consider modern site built home trends as mostly ridiculous. Presently live in a 12x60/1972 Florida single with living room factory expando slideout. 2 of the manufactured homes have been in Florida parks, 2 have been on deeded land. Just made an offer on a semi-rough 1981 single sitting a on half acre in Michigan. I'm retired and slightly bored, this could be my summer project for 2022, and beyond:). Learning a lot from your videos.

Now watching your channel. I've been renovating a 1972 single wide. TOTAL gut job. Among other things I've redone all my windows, I have one left to do. Since Kinro went out of business I've been putting Pella residential replacement windows in mine. Since I have 2x3 studs I had to bump my walls out by 3/4". Not to mention dealing with the metal exterior after. Not fun but I figured it out. Everything is buttoned up until I redo the exterior next year. At that point I will pull all the windows and redo everything permanently. They're good for now. I'm also putting in a sliding door next year, I'll frame that out this winter. I'm lucky that mine has a new metal roof with an overhang all the way around. One thing I can add: USE ROCKWOOL INSULATION. Fire proof. Water proof. Better R value. Bugs and mice hate it. Provides some sound proofing. Eff the pink stuff. Also, as I'm sure you know, I tell people on these channels to redo ALL your electrical. The lines are probably fine but the outlets and the boxes are garbage and the wires are not stapled. REDO IT!

Oh my goodness the price of lumber is ridiculous my word that is horrible $300..00 for wood? good grief. Save all the lumber you possibly can.

Season and lessons in life, they aren't giving that lumber away, that's for sure. I would not want to be building a whole new house right about now. Very expensive.

Why do they offset the front window like that? Our Reno trailer is the same.

Just curious about the 2 doors that both open up to the front deck. The sliding doors plus an entrance door doesn't seem necessary or cost effective. Sorry if you've already explained it.
@BCRenovationMagazine

Hi, David. Those doors are both original to the home. The main front door is only 32" wide. That narrow width combined with where it is in the hallway makes it very tight to bring things like furniture and appliances in. In other projects I have made a narrow door like that wider, to a standard 36" like you have in most regular houses, but in this case it would not be worth the effort because of the small hallway space that the door swings into. It would still be difficult to make the corner to bring something large in. The sliding door allows a lot of natural light into the room and some nice ventilation. The location of the door also allows a straight run into the large room so it is easy to bring large items in through there. Both of the sliding panels in the new door are removable so an almost 6 ft. opening can be opened up. Lots of room to bring things in. A sliding door is not a convenient thing to use as a main entrance door, so the other main door is nice to have for that. The sliding door also makes you feel more connected to the outdoor space of the deck, especially in the summer months when the door can be open and you can go back and forth. That's my take on it. 🙂

I had not considered negotiating that sliding glass door routinely going in and out. Good point!
@BCRenovationMagazine

@@davidpottier9379 , that particular sliding door is available with an optional key lock kit, so it could be used as an entrance door, unlockable with a key from the outside, but I think it is easier to use the regular swinging entrance door. Thanks for commenting! 🙂

I'm attempting to this and noticed mine has no osb or tyvek. (From the exterior) It goes siding, insulation, vapor barrier, drywall. Should I be concerned with weight if I was adding osb when residing?

Hi,Josh. I think you are OK to add OSB. The weight should be no problem. Thanks for watching.
