You broke a welded diff?! That's a spicy meatball you have there!
@moogz24784 жыл бұрын
Just a tip: the way you have connected the welder to the diff will cause the current to flow through the diff bearing rollers, this will cause arcing across the raceways and rollers leading to pitting, burns and eventual failure. Keep up the good work! - been waiting a while for this one.

It’s a welded diff the thing is a hand grenade with the pin pulled, that said when I have weld a diff I prefer to use my old tombstone stick welder because you are never going to get everything perfectly clean because the metal has absorbed gear oil into it and Mig and TIG welders don’t weld dirty metal as well as a stick especially when you turn up the heat.

@jamesdoughty15224 жыл бұрын
@@tiny180 you talking about full spools or mini spools? I've never seen a full spool break unless a cheap axle snapped and shock loaded the gears, taking everything out with them. Or from a faulty setup...
@jamesdoughty15224 жыл бұрын
@@tiny180 interesting, I guess anything is possible. Since you're running laps, I'd almost think a tight limited slip might be better for your application? I've never ran oval track racing, just drag racing, mudding and rock climbing, so I'm not sure what setup would actually last better for you.

@disgruntledegghead69234 жыл бұрын
Get yourself some Grip Lock Ties, you'll consider them permanent once you lock em down. They're reusable too, aircraft grade zip ties. Nice progress! If only I could get rid of the wheel hop on my S10. It's a tough battle with leaf springs.
@disgruntledegghead69234 жыл бұрын
@Mr. Morningstar I considered traction bars, but I like the "sleeper" look. They do not fit that look at all. Someone had suggested mounting them more inboard, but that requires fabrication that I don't want to do considering how effective they really aren't. I used to be 4 cylinder 5 speed, and I could make the wheels hop if I tried. Not for long, but they would hop. Now that I have a 5.3 I can shake everything out of the bed and probably violently break something if I try. I am better off with a 4 link, but I haven't really decided which one to go with, and if/when I do I have to worry about many other things breaking after that. I appreciate your input though, not many people want to take the time to type their advice any more.
