Yes!! I have a 2007 LT PANEL i want to do this swap on. I never feel like having to rebuild drum brakes. Cool!

We were very fortunate that the dealership equipped our 2011 HHR with the Cobalt Z24 option when it was brand new..we bought our HHR in 2013 from a one owner who drove it lightly only with 24,000 original miles..it now has 110,000 miles👍

Hi there, I watched your video a few times and I am impressed with how well your conversion came out. You seem pretty mechanically inclined so I thought I would take a shot to see if you could help me out with a question I have. This is about my 09 HHR SS. Can you tell me how to adjust the parking brake? I am about to put new rotors and pads on my car and am pretty sure the parking brake will need adjustment after the installation. My car already has rear disc brakes. I can picture the pb lever will go all the way up with all that new slack on the cable. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Supercharged and bigger brakes, why no coil overs for suspension or is that next

Will this work for all year HHR? I have a 2011 and I can get the rear axle from a 2006 Cobalt SS do you think this will work? I know the supercharger worked off this car on my HHR with some modifications so wondering it this would work also. It would be nice to have disk rears
@josephcarlson1774 Жыл бұрын
Yes. It work on a 2011, and I also supercharged mine with all of the Cobalt SS and ZZP stuff.

Anyone know why the abs comes up and the ebrakes ?

Thanks for the video. Will this conversion require 16” wheels?

Thank you so much for all of your information, did you have to swap out any kind of computers or anything to get correct brake pressure at the rear?
@josephcarlson1774 Жыл бұрын
I didn't have to change anything. They use the same master cylinder without a proportioning valve.

I just made a plate template so people don't have to do the whole rear end conversion. But I still did it on mine for authenticity :P

This can be installed on Malibu 08-12??
@josephcarlson17742 жыл бұрын
I don't think so because they're different platforms, but I haven't looked into it.

what did you do about the abs lite my stay on after i did the same thing
@josephcarlson1774 Жыл бұрын
My donor axle had a bad sensor in the LR wheel bearing. Changed it and I was good to go.

Did you have to change master cylinder and proportion valve?
@josephcarlson17742 жыл бұрын
No, the part number is the same on the SS master cylinder and the HHR
@robertpeake67622 жыл бұрын
Cool thanks. Probably going to pull a part they have a g5 with rear disc brakes looks all the same as colbolt and hhr!

Is there any other cobalts that came with rear disc brakes besides the SS? If so can you use rear disc off of a 4dr? Great video btw, great information.
@josephcarlson17744 жыл бұрын
Yes, any disc break rear axle from the cobalt or G5 will work. After '07 the naturally aspirated SS was rebadged as just the "sport" model.

Joseph Carlson thanks for the info.

Did you find that you had to swap out the master cylinder/ proportioning valve, to get the brakes to function correctly, also I didn’t notice in the video, did you install the HD sway bar on the rear?
@josephcarlson17748 ай бұрын
I looked up the SS master cylinder and proportioning valve and they are the same part number as the HHR, so I just left my stock ones in place. The 07 SS I parted out didn't have any extra sway bar in the rear.

Does the SS have a different valving in the shocks/struts? Or are your KYBs better? Does the Master Cylinder operate the rear discs the same as the drums??
@josephcarlson17745 жыл бұрын
This HHR was optioned with the same FE3 "sport ride" suspension that is on the SS. I think the KYB's are better than the factory ones as well.
@josephcarlson17745 жыл бұрын
And its the same Delco part number between the master cylinders and there isn't a proportioning valve. Everyone I've seen do the swap doesn't have an issue using the factory master cylinder.
@cliffweatherbee69145 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Great information! Don't forget to do an update in a few months. I'm going to try and make a few videos on my Jimmy in the next few weeks.

@@cliffweatherbee6914 So im doing the same swap on my 2007 ion. I think if your car comes with abs your good but i think my ion 2.2 has a valve instead of abs because my rear brakes drag after the swap.
@Thermos0174 жыл бұрын
Is the rear caliper small enough to still get the spare on? I know the factory spare in my 06 HHR won't fit over the front calipers, it has to be placed on the rear drums. Also, are you running stock size wheels on that with the larger caliper bracket? There's not a lot of clearance between my factory wheels and the caliper in the front so i'm not sure I can do this mod with my current wheels.
@josephcarlson17744 жыл бұрын
I actually haven't tried the spare although the spare from the SS cobalt looks to be identical. I have test fitted factory 16" steel wheels and they clear without an issue.

Anybody else notice that the springs just removed their self. I was afraid it would jump out and hit you in the head.
@josephcarlson17744 жыл бұрын
Factory springs would of had a little tension on them, but these cobalt lowering springs just fall out.
