I had a 2017 Mustang Ecoboost for over 6 years and I loved that car to death. I finally traded it in a week ago for a 2024 Mustang GT. You’re completely right; they’re both completely different cars. Part of me does miss the Ecoboost. Like you said, the low end torque that would throw me in my seat right away and the 25mpg I would get combined. The GT is awesome too, it’s just different. The sound is beefy and loud which is what I enjoy. But I do notice myself having to beat on the car more to get the power out. Advice for Ecoboost owners: don’t care about what others say. If you’re thinking about trading up just because you want people to accept you, then you got other issues. The Ecoboost is an awesome platform and those cars are fun! However, if you’re looking to get more performance or looking for the V8 sound, then yeah it’s a good upgrade. Just be ready to pay a premium for it! I was never one to associate myself with the mustang community as a whole, so the whole “the Ecoboost isn’t a real mustang” never got to me at all for the six years I had it.

I have my ecoboost for almost a year now, Im a huge fan of jdm cars and i grew up with jdm cars. Theres something about mustang that caught my eye when i was younger and now I have the ecoboost and trying to inspire it with the jdm appearance. I do contemplate a lot of times about trading it in for a GT. Still indecisive about it but at the same time, I want the turbo, higher gas mielage and cheaper insurance payment

Hi all! I daily drive my 19’ EcoBoost throughout the day 120 plus miles. I have a C&L bypass valve & Borla ATAK exhaust in addition to other mods. I just love all fast cars, especially the ones that can get around a corner, whether it’s domestic or foreign. Any way, I have driven with my windows down for almost a year straight without touching the radio. I haven’t wanted to listen to the radio, because I love the sound of my Mustang EcoBoost. To me, it sounds like a race car. More than once, I have overheard others in conversation wondering aloud how much WHP my car is putting down. Daily I receive multiple compliments for the appearance & sound of my car. It seems my car looks & sounds good enough to the uninitiated or ignorant. I don’t care. I just love driving & hearing my car. Don’t get me wrong, I root for the GT, GS4, & GT3 in any race I watch. I love the 8’s sound. I can’t afford it. If I could, then I would just want to by the GT4 or Dark Horse, because I still wouldn’t be satisfied. Point being, I’m happy & satisfied.

This was honestly a nice watch. I have a 19 Eco currently, planning on getting a 93 PD tune and mbrp race exhaust. I never go to the track or hit 100 mph. I love feeling the 0-60 pulls and mostly drive city so this is convincing me to stay on the Eco platform. Doesn’t sound like the GT would be worth it for me.

everyone that loves Mustangs wants the GT. I settled for the ecoboost for 1. it was least expensive to buy 2. the registration is half the cost of a V8 pa. 3. insurance is less and 4. fuel cost. Personally i cant justify extra cost for a v8 to hear its engine it does sound amazing but the eco still turns heads of onlookers :D and screw the haters if they dont like the ecoboost it's still a Mustang

lol I have a 2019 GT premium and I couldn’t imagine buying a Mustang that an eco boost or a v6. It’s just not the point of the Mustang. My insurance is 115 a month for full coverage. Yes it drinks fuel like a whore but the emotion, feeling and the sound is totally worth it. I’m also a car guy so it was a no brainer for me to get the GT.

I completely agree with you 100% about the comparison. The EcoBoost is a down low car, and the GT is a up high car. When I test drove a GT before buying the Type R, that was the biggest difference I felt. The biggest thing I realized is that I much prefer the torque of a turbo car over the sound of a V8. the GT has way more modding potential for high horsepower builds, but like you, I like 0-60, being able to feel the torque rather than high-speed runs. I'm really excited about what you think of the Golf R, AWD turbo car definitely sounds like a blast!
@daily_driven
@daily_driven 6 ай бұрын
Hey Man! Yup that's exactly how I feel! I do really love the low end torque of a turbo 4! I see why you went that route for sure. I do love the GT so its probably something I'll just get use to with some time but that Golf R is tempting Lol!

A 2016 Mustang GT MT82 owner here. From my experience stock to FBO E85 tune, the low end torque as far as I can remember is very similar if not the same. Where you can really see the difference is in the high RPMs. Not that you necessarily have a ton more power but you are in the powerband for a longer period of time because now you can rev 500 to 1000 RPM higher than your stock tune. Once you start tuning you’re gonna get used to it and want more. Funny you mentioned VW. Prior to getting my Mustang I had a MK7 GTI DSG. Loved the car for the short time I had it. I think it makes for one of the best daily’s. I’ve considered trading for the new MK8 R. But I don’t want to regret my decision as the Mustang has given me 0 issues in the 7 years of ownership.

What you said about the stoplight to stoplight is exactly how I feel. The ecoboost felt more dramatic with the torque shove but of course at 5k+ RPM the GT boogies out of the ecoboost's life.

I had a 22' Eco Premium and just recently upgraded to my 24' GT Premium. I paid a pretty penny for it but I have no regrets. For the exact same reason you mentioned, the car community is pretty toxic (lol) so there's a lot of hate and skepticism when it comes to 4 cylinders in a Mustang. Before buying my 22' Eco Premium, I didn't really know much about Mustangs other than the brand. As I kept Googling and going on forums, I realized I might have made a wrong decision - with that, I went down the rabbit hole. Mind you, I was hunting to upgrade for about a year endlessly when I literally just bought my 22' Eco Premium!! Crazy to think that I'm shopping for a brand new car when I literally had a brand new car (only had about 6,000KM at the time). But at the time of trying to upgrade, I couldn't justify the price for the amount of what I'm losing in my Eco Premium (I would have been upgrading to a 22' base GT). Fast forward until recently, I finally pulled the trigger and got an amazing deal for a 24' GT Premium. It was my fault for even going on those forums because that really made second guess my Eco Premium but in a way I'm happy that I did because I got a car that I can rest peacefully with lol. Surprisingly the insurance is cheaper on my 24' GT Premium and I do notice more of a price difference in gas fill ups and frequencies (91 octane strictly compared to 87/89/91 on occasions in my Eco Premium) but like mentioned above, I have zero regret because the exhaust note is something that is priceless.

GT has a MUCH higher ceiling than the eco. For a 4cyl option I would rather go N or CTR. Whatever works best for you is all that matters at the end of the day but there is a reason why I got a S650 GT.

Question to anyone who is lowered: I was thinking about lowering my 2024 GT an inch all around. Is it easy to scrape your car if you’re lowered this amount? I want to get rid of the wheel gap but don’t wanna be horribly worried about every little bump on the road. Thanks!

Put an H Pipe on that GT for torque gains. I put a H-Pipe on my 2016 Mustang GT really made a pretty significant difference in regard to torque. I switched to an X Pipe and it was more high end horsepower.

8:42 So, I had eco for 5 years, installed on it mbrp exhaust and loved it till my 10speed died at 70k couple months ago. In the meantime I had new gt on order and have been driving it for a month now and 1k miles. The cost difference is hard to swallow and it is hard to justify, but the sound of the v8 is priceless. I 100% agree, that eco was so peppy and effortless at the lower end, but I guess if you can afford v8 you get the sound that none of exhaust upgrades on eco can make up for it. As of now no regrets, but this time I'm gonna make sure to sell it before warranty expires. Happy New Year and happy driving! P.S. What is the offset on your rims? They look really good!

Transmission just went out on the highway. I thought it was the engine that lost the power, I literally had to do an emergency stop. I restarted it, but it wouldn't go beyond 1st gear and was kinda jumpy. Dealership said internal parts got damaged. No idea what caused it.

What was the change in the cost of your insurance? I could have purchased a GT, but it’s my daily. Gas in California is expensive and I have a 60 mile commute to work and back. Yes, on the road, I get over 30 mpg in the Ecoboost. It’s modified and tuned as well. So that is why I went Ecoboost. I have zero regrets. And yeah, that low end torque is nuts.

Have the s550 eco, would love a GT but driving 70 miles per day with a lot of stop start would end up making the GT an extra $400 per month after fuel, car payment and insurance. Plus I have max trim, performance and mbrp catback on my eco, would probably have to settle for base GT. Maybe one day I’ll get the GT, but I’m more tempted by a Indian scout to go along side my eco
