In early 2000s, road bikes are still a little bit expensive in China and the MTB is the most popular bike. Some people will choose to upgrade their MTB to make it faster, like replace the bigger chainring, replace a skinny tire and even install a drop bar. The concept of gravel bike is still not exist at that time, we call this bike Shan'ma（山马 which combine mountain and road）. This video brings me to those days.

Super film! Szkoda, ze nie pokazałeś dokranie śrub kluczem dynamometrycznym, to byłaby dobra praktyka. Film przydatny dla mnie, bo a) nie wiedziałem, ze przy wymianie jest taka filozofia, b) pokazałeś jak wygląda grawel z amorem i jak to pracuje. Mam grawela z płaską i amorem 6cm i zastanawiam się nad barankiem.

Dziękuję za twoje komentarze. Właściciel roweru doznał kontuzji ramienia, więc potrzebował amortyzowanego widelca. Taka wymiana zmienia geometrię roweru. Jeśli uda ci się znaleźć widelec z małym skokiem, to może okaże się jeszcze lepiej.

Nice upgrade! I'm planning to do the same for my hybrid bike. Currently I have 700C wheels and I was wondering what would be the best fork size for me? Can I go with a 27.5 fork or do I have to get a 29 fork?

Thank you for your comment. We put a 27.5 fork on this particular bike to prevent the handlebars from rising too high. If you don't use a very wide tire, then a 27.5 fork will be enough.

It's not upgrading. You actually convert the gravel bicycle to MTB. I would replace the fork with titanium one. Also possible to replace the handlebar to titanium, and even the seat post to titanium. Like that your ride will be much cofortable

The most tiring thing about gravel is this boring geometry talk. What's more is people wanting to take care of other people's bikes. If you buy the parts yourself and assemble it yourself, your bike is not a gravel bike, if you buy it in a store and put on a bigger tire, your bike is not a gravel bike. A concept that started out as cool as the gravel bike, a versatile bike that allows you to ride in different places, today you can't even think about your comfort.
