I live in Dallas and visited Houston a few times. My friends here in Dallas kept telling me I woulnd't like Houston (i dont know why Dallas people hates houston lol) but I LOVED the city.It reminded me of the east coast in many ways. It was more diverse, better restaurants, more metropolitan, people are more liberal and it has just as many jobs (if not more) than Dallas.Dallas has been good to me but I ended up finding a job in Houston andd will be moving there this weekend. I'm excited!

I love Houston. Being from Keller in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, there isn't much to do here but the amount of diversity and culture in Houston is amazing. Uptown Houston is my favorite place to go in Houston, the weird street signs and shopping just never gets old. The Woodlands in Far North Houston is a very nice community and there is so much to do there from shopping to just relaxing in the abundance of nature it has to offer. I just love Houston.

Oh my god I have been living in Houston texas my whole life and the mall is SO DAMN BIG! It is amazing and it has almost every single little thing you need. It's so huge and you could get lost there. As of 2010 there goal for the mall is to move up from 7th largest to 3rd there adding a whole new big section and it is just huge. I love HOUSTON!!!

This district is somewhat similar to Atlanta's Buckhead district. I can't say I agree with Houston's method of planning (or lack thereof) with allowing highrises wherever since it decentralizes the inner core and spreads the city out. But, I do like how the Galleria has an urban feel to it instead of taking the usual Southern approach and buildings massive paved parking lots. I LOVE those illuminated signs! Thank you for this and your great info!

This is a really good video. I have been living in Houston for the past 30 years and I can honestly say that Houston is truly a remarkable city. Uptown Houston is surrounded by some of the most expensive zip codes in Houston and arguably in the entire USA. Homes raging from the 1.5 million to over 15 million. Also, Houston has been on an economic upswing for nearly 15 years.....HOUSTON ALL THE WAY!!!!

They are jeolous! Dallas/Ft. Worth & Atlanta are airline hubs, but that didn't put them on top. Miami is 2 small & not equipped for these storms & huge infrastructure projects. & although I hate the oil industry, Houston will always be swimming in $. I have lived there off & on my whole life, & traveling 2 Hotlanta & Big D just doesn't have the thrill. Miami - no clue & no desire. I'm n AL, & I want 2 thank ya'll 4 all the help u have give us w/storms & the oil. Doors all open 4 ya'll!

When I left Houston for the Twin Cities back in the early 60's, I believe there was only the new Sakowitz. There was virtually nothing there except pastureland. I was sorry to see downtown retail begin the exodus to Post Oak. But that is how Houston is. You don't know what's coming next. Whatever is next is always something wow.

Shocked to hear someone say they hate Miami. Houston's a great place to live, not so great to visit. It's cheap to live there and has the best job market in the country. The food is absolutely spectacular. If you're visiting there's the Galleria for shopping, Kemah Boardwalk, and a Museum District consisting of 19 different museums. For nightlife, visit Washington ave.

great video & awesome track. this makes houston seem really exciting but it is and its not, its really a great city with lots of diversity, great awesome restaurants, but i think you will enjoy the city more if you are in the know, they have stuff going on but its not so in your face like in other cities all the time so i think with the right connections you will enjoy it more or other than that, its okay. But Westheimer is amazing, Post Oak Blvd, Kirby at night is always so pretty

@CosmoPhotography I, on the contrary, think deregulated planning can be good. This uptown district is a vibrant, cosmopolitan, and very beautiful area with lots of beautiful buildings that would otherwise be, literally, the middle of nowhere. Boring strip malls, endless suburbs, and uninteresting architecture. Well, maybe that wouldn't be this specific case, as Uptown Houston is surrounded by really beautiful and livable neighborhoods (especially to its north and west).
@AlvinHDavernport13 жыл бұрын
@mpope409 If you consider that Houston's per-capita GDP is also higher than Miami's or Dallas', and Houstonians are more affluent on average, which is where I was going with the GDP figures. Also, having lived in both Houston and Miami, I can safely say that Miami doesn't hold a candle to Houston as far as shopping goes. The Galleria blows anything in Miami right out of the water. Atlanta's Buckhead District might be the only true rival to Uptown Houston in the South, IMO.
