I fished here late 1960s-early 1970s as a member of Woolwich Garrison Angling Society ! I still have my badge ! I was a Police Constable there then ! Mr Wells was the then secretary ! We had annual weed clearing work groups ,with a small wooden row boat ! Tench & Cruician Carp were main species ! I only ever saw one mirror carp on hot sunny days ,approx 6lb ,never saw it caught !1962-63 winter devastated the fishery ! Mr Wells showed me photographs of enormous numbers of dead fish including huge pike ! Pleased to see its still there !!!

Back in 1987 when I did my Army training at woolwich we used to run round the assault course which was around the lake ,had a couple of swimming sessions in it too ,it’s a lot cleaner now lol

At the dell you see kingfishers, jays swallows,woodpeckers,wagtails , and in hear a owl in the evening; its a beautiful place to fish,but unfortunately the committee want to fell the tree's around the lake with total disregard,for the wildlife,members unite, please dont let this happen .

for what reason do the committee want to fell the trees??
@londoncityangler42008 жыл бұрын
It's to do with stopping silt buildup and getting more wind on the water, which in due corse will create more oxygen.

+alanrtment porter that may be true on large wind swept lakes but on s lake the size of the dell the main problems are the leafs falling in and decomposing in the bottom.

DO you realize that the polish catch our river fish and most take them home to cook them

Jack Tuynman do you have any proof that all the Eastern Europeans all steel the fish?? I spend more time than most traveling and fishing these kind of places and 90% of people are responsible anglers. In fact to be honey I've seen more dangerous fishing practices done by english people than anyone else.
