We had our camper stolen last year and had a tracker on the OSD port which worked really well. Last Tracking of the van though was at the local aldi car park 2 mins away. So , the first thing they done was check for a tracker on the OSD port and rip it out. Good to hear that this one has a 12v supply so can be hidden in the back!

Hi there, another great video - thank you 👍 Could you please post the link for the virtual tag? The one on your phone, as I can’t find it on their website. I have the tag but it doesn’t work for living in the van as it sets itself when the tag doesn’t move. Thank you

Save your money and just get a ghost alarm, they also do a shot bolt through your gearbox so it can’t be towed as it’s in gear
@Great-to-be2 ай бұрын
Price comparison needed, or do you work for Ghost?

We already have a cat 2 alarm on ours but we still use the carlock
@kieran7102 ай бұрын
@UrbanVanlife ghost alarm are better than any vehical alarm it shuts down the engine so can't be driven and theres a sequence of buttons to press to get the thing started again. But does cost close to 500 big difference in price.
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
When we where looking in to alarms the strike back growler we have fitted came in much higher than the ghost alarm . Mainly cos it can’t be hacked .

We bought the Carlock tracker for our Motorhome after seeing one of your earlier reviews for Carlock, best bit of kit I’ve bought for it, the Motorhome was in for its MOT and it told me when it was started and when it was finished, it is extremely well hidden and it takes up so little space and it also tells you the voltage of the battery.

Nice bit of kit, to add to other security measures. It’s all about layers of security. Bearlock , steering lock , pedal lock, wheel clamp, alarm plus tracker, fuel cut off switch. Takes me about half hour just to get off the driveway 😂
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
It’s a sad reality now that you have to have several different layers of protection just for piece of mind and yes it takes a while to start the van up with them all 😂😂

Was talking with a friend about this yesterday and how some/probably most vans get broken into with people thinking they are builders vans and are looking for tools to steal but instead find someone’s home with expensive electronics like my eco flow and laptop ect,that’s the main reason I’m sticking to my converted Kia 7 seater as people seem to take not 1 bit of notice of it
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
Another interesting point raised here, it’s not just motorhomes/campers that get targeted!!

Happy with mine The virtual tag on the phone made it far better and customer service were realy helpful wheni had a problem with it. Only slight quibble is insurance company don't recognise it as a pukka tracker, but for the monthly subs its still worth it
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
Yeah it is a shame about the insurance companies but I have heard people say that if they don’t have a cat 2 alarm the insurance don’t recognise any other type of alarm, it’s getting harder and harder to please the insurance companies!

Only problem is they STATE the battery lasts 12months . But when you take in to account high and low temps that can cause it to drop . I think I’d rather have a system that is connected to a constant power source . I’m guessing with you saying it’s the best you have tested both side by side

sometimes you ahve to think about en extra monthly cost as part of your insurance, also sometimes if you have a tracker just like an alarm insurance may lower your monthly rate

Peddle locks work a treat . Find the stop fuse and put a key switch on it in a hidden location. Easy to do . Better for it not to be stolen at all . Than waiting for your van to be found.

I find that PEDAL locks work better!

We have a clutch claw and a steering lock as well . But for the cost of £6 a month if they get past A/B/C we have a 4th line of defence I mean can you imagine if it was stollen

I gather from your post that you did not gain a qualification in neither spelling, nor the correct use of grammar particularly pertaining to the English language. Are you an immigrant by any chance?
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
Being able to use grammar correctly and spell correctly is not an indication of a persons worth or their nationality. Dyslexia is a thing for many people, intelligence is not only academia based and if everyone was the same, well the world would be a boring place. However someone who is throwing out vailed insults or what can be deemed to be a slur on another person does show their true character.

I wouldn’t want it back. You can’t tell the damage done whilst out of your possession. You already pay insurance. Why not use it? Just make sure you have the most valuable stuff covered in your policy.
@UrbanVanlife2 ай бұрын
Valid point however a lot of people aren’t getting the full value of their vehicle from their insurance company, something to be mindful of, some people have had their claims not fulfilled at all, we have decent insurance but we never know what could happen or what can invalidate your insurance, so for us we would want to tour vehicle back to then make a decision which direction we would take
