This old single front cottage was built in 1910 and seems to have been abandoned since the early 90`s from what remains inside. There are old photos and other very personal belongings left behind along with some furniture an absolute vintage kitchen! This cottage is built with the pressed tin corrugated iron, lathe slats and plaster which the less common style in Adelaide as stone and brick were preferred by the more wealthy. I really loved finding and exploring this old gem spending 3 hours in here looking and photographing. The place seemed to have been last occupied by and older lady and a teenage boy so the father may have passed away , the boy had many swimming certificates and a trophy for hockey. The photos are reminder of how peoples life memories can be just left behind just like the home they lived in . Hope you enjoy. Facebook link here- / urbex.indigo

What a wonderful find! I thoroughly enjoyed this explore. The kitchen especially was incredible. It looks as if a fire may have been the reason they left. The power box was fried and there was what looked like fire in the walls of the hallway where you entered. The original touches in the hallway were so nice to see...the archway and shelves. That stove in the kitchen was new to me and I loved it. Thanks so much for this one. The older ones are my favorites.

Interesting how you mentioned that the black and white photo reminded you of your parent's photos when they were young - mine too. It seems in those days they got dressed up and went out either for family parties or other parties. It looked like fun times. I've never seen corrogated internal walls, almost like mine-orb. The house being 110 years old this year, has a lot of damage, I would have liked to have seen it before squatters moved in. Thanks for capturing this one.

@@urbexindigo5164 JPVIDEOS if you look under a video of his ...he has some cool camera gear, lights, mikes you name it it's there. If you're looking for good camera/& stuff gear. Maybe they have the same gear in Australia or it might be cheaper if bought in the states. Just trying to help out. If I can get back into putting a vid up soon wait till you sew the latest ghost pics from the Keepers house. Looks like a mother holding a skeleton baby with a white cap and a head of a man sideways next to them. Then there's this white thing in the window with eyes open, with a weird almost smile with like white lines almost like sparks coming off it. This time of year the lighthouse & it's keeper's house are locked up with no lights or 'alive' folks inside. The girl that works behind the counter in the summer says they're always being told crazy story's of strange stuff folks have seen ect. there.

Lived in cottage same build these were imported from England I believe as a flat pack Ikea style. Bloody hot and cold to live in and ceilings were insulated with seaweed. Those old Kookas were the best to cook on rented an old cottage with one was soooo good and going strong in the 90's called a gas fitter to clear the jets and you could still get parts to fix them!! This is a gem thankyou

Great little house! I've never seen one made of corrugated iron before. Kitchen was great and who would expect a flush toilet in an outhouse! The little hand with the chain is for use with clothes that have back zippers. The clip goes into the hole in the zipper tab and you pull up or down on the hand to zip up or down. My grandmother had one.

Having grown up in old timber clad houses, with old Kooka stoves, I can only imagine how uncomfortable a tin clad home would be. I am surprised it was even allowed. Freezing in winter, stifling in summer, no insulation. While it is interesting historically it would have been a trial to live in. Looks like an electrical fire, common with old wiring and modern appliances. Thanks for documenting it. It's an example of housing that once existed which most today would never have seen.

I have seen those old wood frame kitchen benches in different colour contrast, Green & White, Red, Blue or Yellow. Thirties Dream kitchen. The Fuse box panel looks as if it took a hit from a lightning strike. If so the old circuit interrupter probably saved a burn down. At least 110 years old, judging from the construction and fittings. @@urbexindigo5164 Hi Paul ! When I can get more footage I can put up a video and hopefully you can see some crazy ghost pics. I'm making a fun miniature grave yard for a friend. In a cut away mausoleum they'll be skeltons having a party, dancing & some sitting at tables that are the plastic things you get in pizza boxes. A headstone will have a leg & hands coming out of the ground, just some fun stuff. Will be cool for a Halloween display. : )

The bottle was mead. Honey alcohol. Whack of drinking and bad hair styles going on in those old photos. The house feels so sad. The graffiti and deterioration was typical of how long it had been abandoned in a neighborhood. Would have been a big draw for the usual criminally minded yahoos. The crowning touch was the Watchtower magazine. Jehovah's Witnesses had been by to visit. Lol. Kelly's Heroes was a 1970 WWII film. Sweet wee kitchen. With that style of construction it would have been bloody hot as blazes in there during summer. Love the play on words Early Kooka. Lol! Would have been a cute wee place in its day. Lord have mercy you are a brave one opening the appliances! Vegemite pellets??! I'm a fairly modern person, but an outhouse into the 1990s?! Yeesh! Thanks for sharing

Urbex Indigo . You're welcome! Thinking further, I wonder if the man that built this house was a laborer or contractor in house construction. This would explain why there were so many different materials; corrugated metal in the kitchen, plaster and lathe, the nice curved metal porch roof. Maybe he was allowed to take the overrun materials for free or almost.
