The shed out back was a laundry / wash room - the little tub was an old fashioned boiler to wash clothes, but there does appear to be 2 taps on the wall above it; maybe that 'chimey' to the right of it was an improvised water heater.. it sort of makes sense to concentrate all functions requiring water to be localised in one space: Curiously, the round kitchen sink seems more contemporary.. Great find !

Lovely area for a farm. Great explore. I wouldn't be brave enough to go in this or any abandoned house now.

If only those trees could talk ! They knew how to build homes back in those days. The kichen was cool ! The sink was a trip. Only saw some like that in Colonial homes from way back minus the bit under the sink. But they had handles on the 'sink' to pick up the water to dump. Also seen in old slave quarters in the south. You always pick the nicest music that sets the mood. Nothing like learning from the best on making videos. Someone sure liked the color green & so do I. A green bike? Cool. I have an Urban Ironhorse bike, mountain tires, red & silver bike, very sturdy well built one with a big basket in the front. Love it.

I can make some ok music but there are some beautiful free tunes on youtube library.

@@urbexindigo5164 Did you know that in France there is a monument honnoring the Australians for all of their brave efforts in the 1st World War? This year marks 100 years since the 1st World War ended. On 1 Sept. 1 Peronne fell to the Australians. States the Australian battalions led a magnificent headlong attack, which ultimately repelled the Invaiders. In the "2018 special edition" commemorative pamphlet published by the Communes of the Somme Valley, this organization's President wrote: "Let's never forget Australia."💖 War is horrible but it is nice to remember what was done & how bravely people fought & to never forget the price that is paid for freedom. Liked that old kitchen. The ancient stove with the cupboard next to it for the wood. Nice collection of shades of green there. Interesting that they got electricity installed but not water. I wonder if they liked the water from that creek? Perhaps they couldnt afford to get both installed. Maybe sourcing wood for the old stove was harder than fetching water for the sink? I think you are right that this has not been lived in for a long time. Was that draining board stainless steel though? That looked from about 1970 but could be earlier. We had a stainless steel draining board in the newly built house we moved into in 1966. I think the previous house had a wooden one, although that was built around 1960. Possibly an early Victorian cottage, built by European settlers in the region. The cottage looks like has had an extension later on where the concrete walls are seen on the outside. The front veranda section where the red brickwork posts are seen, looks like may have been added later on as well. Dotted here and there with some 1970s additions with the curtains in the same room as the good old Malvern Star bike. Low ceilings were common for the working class and the more grandeur homes had higher ceilings. Thanks Urbex Indigo for your interesting footage.

weird bodgy house. No plumbing in main house drain from sink stops at outside wall would have left a nice swampy spot outside the kitchen window. I was trying really hard to make sense of the floors. Hey Mike!! I wouldn't have known about this ch & his cool ghost ch if it haddn't been for YOU. "THANK U" very much. Your last vid was a trip, going into such a house where the support posts were slanted so much & sideways. My heart was beating fast, "just get out of there safely!! " talking to my phone. You gently walk on the floor & the desk shakes...oh my. That unbelievable gross bed!! I think someone died there & was left there for some time. Then you state not to touch anything, then you go through that box, was so funny. "Now Michel, don't touch anything." Then we go through the box !😁😃😆 You have a great sence of humor, always fun to see what you're up to. But when you showed us the outside of the house & those posts I nearly fell off my chair. Good on ya for setting goals & going for them. Brave of you to go in there. What was in that case? Ever find out? Might be info on the house. NO, don't go back inside that house ! I'd be stupid enough to slid under the house very quickly To get that little tin box. Wot might be in there, to hide it under the house? I find tin boxes lots of times, buried to hide from the British since 1812 with really nice jewelry, got a wooden box of silverware that was wrapped in a tarp. One lucky couple while walking their dog found accupple of tins with gold coins ! Are can tops worth anything, 😉cause I find tons of junk, but find nice stuff 2, metal detecting. Bet you would also around those old homes & places.

This was a smashing bit of modern archaeology! It really didn't present as much at first glance, but as the layers were peel'd back there was quite a story here. Or maybe I just have a vivid imagination....;) Where to start?... I couldn't miss that originally it a simple stone cottage that later had the concrete room additions. That fire place held a small treasure- an old coal grate with its Fireback - that, cleaned up -if it isn't cracked- it is worth something. (Same thing for that bicycle- some oil, a bit of of air in the tyre's and it could ridden off) The central core stone house is definitely old; those drop ceilings were add'd at some point of 'modernizing' (30's maybe?) the house- but one room kept its wood lath.... the electric light fixtures dropped down thru this ceiling during the 'upgrading'". Those low doors I have seem in many British cottages- dating back to the days of shorter people- but they also kept the ceilings lower, and thus the rooms warmer-- in theory anyway. I loved that built-in kitchen range, and did anyone notice the water heater tank on the left side with it's faucet tap? At least at some point in their history used had hot water. But it may not have continued- I saw no other hot water heating device. The electric stove was about as basic as they come, in contrast with that wood burning stove (I am going to assume it was wood and its hearth was that door on the right.) The stove's brickwork was well done, and says that somebody there once could do decent work- probably very early on-- but the subsequent occupiers weren't so prosperous or clever.... evidenced by that electric stove and other crude/simple items. I was mystified by the lack of running water in the kitchen....No plumbing!..... yet there is a creek outside; ground water must be only a metre or so below surface..... why did these people never dig even a shallow well? An electric pump and pressure tank are easy-peasy to install..... they had the electric power..... life would have been SO much easier with so little effort. I also noticed that while the kitchen sink had a drain, it just went thru the wall and dump'd immediately outside. This, plus the weird wash house with its place for some sort of canister toilet, a bathtub-sort of contraption (note the faucets but where came the water?) --- a primitive paraffin heater -- all say to me that life here was about as basic as it comes- bordering on purposefully austere. For example, why live without a well?.. or a separate outhouse? Maybe those subsequent occupiers were more Neanderthal than I'd care to think. . Thank you for posting this- it was a fun bit of anthropology/archaeology.....:)

Many many questions and wonders on this one and I think you may be on the money with the people just wanting to live as simple as possible because it certainly looks this way. The house is in a gully by a creek hidden in the trees so it would be a great way to just feel like your off the grid a bit. Walking out over the creek again it looks to be on a farmers property and I think they have used it as a bit of a storage shed by the look of the drums and odd things sitting around. I enjoyed it because it really felt like stepping back to an older mindset of thinking. Thanks for watching! :-)
@paulanull87316 жыл бұрын
Small FYI: Many times in those days the well was found and house built around it. The kitchen sink or very nearby inside the kitchen had a pump to use for water. It was used for dishes and hot water etc. The old pumps were valuable and often taken out to use else where.
