Seeing this just made me smile. I grew up with a 76 Gran Torino Squire wagon, my parents got it used from a relative when I was about 2 in 81 and owned it for over 20 years, and 300k on the clock. It was treated as if it was a member of our family. Many road trips growing up it used to pull a pop up tent trailer for camping, and learning to drive very young checking crops on our farm with my dad.

My first car EVER ! bought it for 400 $ from my college couch three days after arriving for first time in the States..!!! How many trips with how many friends to how many hunting adventures and how many whitetails the huge trunk carried dripping blood from the cargo - tailgate - door - how many times was pulled over just because of this by nervous cops ...l It was a darker blue metallic but those very specs ..! Oh how I missed the comfort of this definition of American big car...! My friends all got no porches or Mercedes Benz - but Camaros - 6.6 Trans Ams and even Datsun 240 s !!!! Makes some rim ! But THAT WE ALL TRAVELLED TOGETHER WITH !!!! YEAH - was tending to lose it on the icy throughway - but so did the rest - and it was me wrecking the otherwise great Datsun 240 .....! Well .... Next - rather along for a while - was a two door 1978 Thunderbird - all damn inside out Emerald Green - and was not even my color - but its price was too bloody sweet ... Oh - I loved the States and your cars ... What if driving upstate - and heading to Montreal - in a manual Brown color Trans Am - with tons of the right sounds - and clocks up the dash - nice vinyls and poultry stickers up front - we was left behind - i swair - by a red and black bug - this English Mini damn Cooper - boy scout's honor - left us stick our 6.6 up our ass.... And you better believe it guys - 'couse I was driving that car and still can't cope with it - still trying to figure out if I had one too many of those 200 $ an ounce - THEN - lethal Colombian shit - but again TRUST ME- this is a case of plain outright obsessed refusal ...! we had 1976 in a silver metallic blue ( sky blue ) I think is what Ford called it. ame set up with the third-row seat but ours was a Gran Torino and was better equipped than the base Torino ( Nicer seats ). We had the option of a new seat fabric Ford called " Duraweave, a woven synthetic cloth-like fabric. . That wagon was amazing it did anything you asked it.

This car takes my husband down memory lane. A wagon exactly like this one became Mobile #1 at AM 580 CJFX Radio Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Purchased in the fall of 1975 from Keltic Motors it was delivered to Mr. Jack Shields who painted the gigantic call letters and frequency on the sides, hood and back of the car. Then it was equipped with Motorola VHF Radios so it could be used to report from any kind of community event. It frequently pulled a parade float. As you can imagine it then sucked a lot of gas. It was a smooth and faithful servant during the latter years of the 1970's. I real 1970's icon. Mobile # 2 was a 1973 Chevelle Wagon that on one occasion experienced an engine fire. It was located at the Port Hawkesbury Studios of this almost clear channel radio station. Deepest respect for the tough serviceable Torino.

I had one with wood trim. One rainy night I got off of work and the car refused to start what had happened was a screw head falling out of the points and the points weren't firing so I pulled out a matchbook and rolled it up and stuck it in to the distributor so the points would open and there that matchbook sat until I sold the car

Imagine THEN electric lift tailgate window !!! My own had a third line of bench plus this cargo -bed option - shit it's huge today - just as I remember it ! I finally crashed it on the crossroad against the Buick's boss of the town running late for class - THANK GOT I WAS INSURED - HIS MOTOR FALL ON THE ASPHALT !!! Brand F new 1980 Buick !!! Was in court too - no one could read my International driving licence written in Greek (!!!!!) They had me get a US for living there !!!
